What’s happening in your workplace tomorrow?

Whathefisgoingon · 26/01/2022 20:54

Mine has totally ignored WHF through out and are removing social distancing and mask requirements as of tomorrow. We work in an office with around 100 people and windows barely cracked.

Like nothing happened.

What are your employers doing? If you are CEV, what are you doing?

No change in my workplace. A few people who can't wfh for various reasons (me included) or who need to be there for something, will be in the office, distanced and wearing masks with windows open. The vast majority of the team will be wfh as they have been non stop since March 2020. I do work in a non clinical role in a hospital though, so I imagine my workplace is not a typical example.

crosbystillsandmash · 26/01/2022 21:03

I work in an overcrowded, poorly ventilated classroom with 27 children, none of whom wear masks.
So for me, same as every other day during covid!!

CoffeeRunner · 26/01/2022 21:06

I work in a large GP surgery. All staff will be in the building & all will be wearing masks at all times.

Just like every other day since March 2020.

Stellaris22 · 26/01/2022 21:07

I work in a local version of a supermarket. All restrictions going, including signs.

Me too - except I'm off ill with COVID.

My super skilled colleague has just had to give up teaching due to long COVID. What a loss.

TooWicked · 26/01/2022 21:12

I'm self employed, I officially ditched the mask when I clocked off today, and my clients won't need to wear one from tomorrow, although they are obviously welcome to carry on wearing them if they prefer. I work 1:1 in a reasonably sized office, and will have the windows cracked as I do most days anyway as I like the fresh air.

I can't lie, I am not one bit sorry to see the end of masks.

BeyondMyWits · 26/01/2022 21:12

Work in a pharmacy... no change. Most people will wear masks, some won't... don't care really, I'm behind a screen, got my own mask.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 26/01/2022 21:12

I work in the office of a visitor attraction. We've removed all our signage to say that masks are mandatory and will be letting visitors manage themselves.
In our office we have all been very careful so a lot of us will still be wearing masks and the windows are always open. We'll just be carrying on as usual tbh.

Iggly · 26/01/2022 21:14

No change until half term then we are back. But with a new hybrid working model with a mix of home/office working allowed.

dingledanglewoowoo · 26/01/2022 21:18

I work for the NHS so no change at all. In fact we are about to move from FFP3 to FFP2 masks for the first since March 2020 Confused

mamaduckbone · 26/01/2022 21:19

No change for me either - still freezing my tits off in school with all the fucking windows and doors open. We've not had many positives though and no major outbreaks so the ventilation is clearly working. More likely to suffer from
Hypothermia.

itsgettingweird · 26/01/2022 21:23

No idea - I'm isolating with covid Grin

However considering so are 70% of the same classroom we won't be removing masks in corridors and meetings and returning as if nothing is happening any time soon.

But schools never really had any mitigations anyway beyond "open a window".

Katie517 · 26/01/2022 21:27

Office back open, no masks. Booking system and our desks are massive anyway so plenty of space. Everyone in 50% of the time minimum. People are looking forward to going back in and socialising again, large office in the Beauty industry majority of staff are under 40 and not in the slightest bit worried about covid.

RagzRebooted · 26/01/2022 21:30

Same here. People keep asking us if we'll stop wearing masks next week. I say I doubt we will stop this year!
Monkeytennis97 · 26/01/2022 21:30

Teaching around 100 pupils. They won't be masked. I will. FFP3 mask and a mic headset to help them hear me. Windows open as far as they can. Same as every day since September 2020 (except for the Jan-March 2021 lockdown).

BrokenCopper · 26/01/2022 21:44

We still can wfh, I only go in if I need to complete my task in the office. Tables are still marked with crosses but no one is social distancing or wear masks. It's a large open office, most still wfh so it's not too bad unless they decide that everyone has to work in the office.

sarah12398 · 26/01/2022 21:58

I work in construction. To be honest the 2 years of Covid hasn't had a huge impact on us: 15 weeks of fulough, which we got a payment for, rare cases of staff having to isolate..

unfortunately since Christmas we now have 20% of our workforce testing positive for this lesser strain.

As a new business and wanting to care for our staff, I'm at that position where I need to tell them that I pay them full wage for their first quarantine, and Sadly, they have to opt for SSP / use holidays to top up...

As a small business I'm in a quandary: protect the business/ protect the staff..

it's heart wrenching as an employer..

Whathefisgoingon · 26/01/2022 22:18

@sarah12398 you sound a whole lot more considerate than others!

My employers don’t pay sick pay and won’t let us wfh whilst isolating even though the role can be done from home.

I went to a garden centre cafe yesterday, a customer asked the staff if they were going to remove the screens this week. Staff member said not at the moment. My DS1 works in engineering and has to wear mask when leaving his work bench, they all wear watches that bleep when someone is closer than 2 metres away, he says they are continuing doing the same. DS2 works in a very large spaced office, where out of 40 staff only 7 or 8 are in regularly. The boss has tried to get them back hybrid working, with no luck, my sons been in every day since July last year, he hated working from home, it just didn’t work.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/01/2022 07:36

Nothing. I work in manufacturing and we've been operating as normal throughout. No masks, no ventilation.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 27/01/2022 07:45

not heard, but imagine nhs will continue with masks

Whitefire · 27/01/2022 07:59

I'm currently off, but we have all been back in the office since last year with nothing in place. Before "freedom day" we had screens, spaced desks, signage, one way systems etc, but they all went the day covid disappeared. Continued in office during last WFH advice. LFT's twice a week came back since the new year but they have also gone from today.

Covid? What Covid?

CleanUpTime · 27/01/2022 08:05

Our office has stated wfh 3 days a week. Office 2
No masks and desks which are side by side can now be used- previously there had to be a space between workers not that there was anyone in! Masks can be ditched now.

EileenGC · 27/01/2022 08:13

I’m not in the UK so it all stays like it’s been for almost 2 years now.

FFP2 masks compulsory anywhere indoors, from the age of 6.
Can’t WFH in my job so everybody is in. Most people working in office environments are on a hybrid model.
6 compulsory PCRs a week at my workplace. On top I take 1 antigen for an event that doesn’t exempt you from testing with booster.
Covid passports everywhere that’s not an essential shop - full vaccination or recovery, plus booster or antigen test no older than 24 hours for entry anywhere indoors.
No social distancing measures have been in place since September 2021.

I’d love to see some restrictions go but I sure hope our government waits until the numbers are low before they take such measures. To do it in the middle of a wave’s downtrend is just unimaginable here.

toomuchlaundry · 27/01/2022 08:16

DH’s firm have adopted a permanent hybrid model, so can fully WFH, partly WFH or permanently in the office. If permanently in the office you have an allocated desk, otherwise you book a hot desk. They have reduced office space by sub letting one floor. They are recruiting people from other parts of the country who don’t have to move and can simply WFH.

All COVID mitigating measures like masks etc will go, but the office is never full now so desks can be distanced
