Has anyone had Covid and been truly asymptomatic?!

They say between 35-50% of people are asymptomatic but I haven't seen any threads about it on here. Were you? Did you truly have not even a sniffle or a slight scratch in your throat?!

Yes, DH (mid 40s) was totally asymptomatic, as was DS. They only knew because DS tested as he was a close contact at school and then DH tested positive a few days later. No coughs, sniffles, sore throat, anything. I had very mild symptoms so I reckon we all had a very mild dose of it.

IWasHotInTheNineties · 16/01/2022 21:29

My sons class . . . ALL of them. One of the other mums tested their son on Friday as they tested the whole family. He was positive (asymptomatic) and when she told the group chat we all tested ‘to be on the safe side’ and now there will be no one in tomorrow morning! No symptoms in any of them it seems.

Hopeandglory · 16/01/2022 21:30

I tested due to being a close contact and was positive, about day 4 realised that my sense of smell had gone but other than that no symptom and I did shed loads of work as I was housebound and bored.

Veryverycalmnow · 16/01/2022 21:32

Had it without symptoms first time round. Got it again now with flu- like symptoms.

tothefareast80 · 16/01/2022 21:38

Both my sons and husband had it last week after a trip to the US. All asymptomatic and only knew they had it due to post travel PCRs. I also didn't get it. Very odd

CrunchyCarrot · 16/01/2022 22:12

Yes I was completely asymptomatic. I am neither young nor healthy - have autoimmunity - although am thin with a good Vit D level. My DP had Covid very mildly, I was sure I'd get it and it would be worse. I didn't (or so I thought). It was only months later when we both did an antibody test that both of us tested positive that I realised I had had Covid too. This happened back in July 2020 so we had the original variant.

Randominternetbitch · 16/01/2022 22:22

Yes me DH over Xmas. We all tested before meeting elderly relatives, both mine and hers came back positive, confirmed with PCR. Didn’t even have a headache let alone a sniffle. I felt far worst after my booster. DH and DS never caught it.

MrsAvocet · 16/01/2022 22:30

My 18 year old son had no symptoms to speak of. Well he maybe coughed a few times but were it not for the fact that everyone else in the house had recently tested positive I don't think he would have gone for a test. He wasn't unwell at all really. We all tested positive within days of each other but reacted completely differently. DH was critically ill and (obviously) hospitalised and my other DS and I were moderately unwell at home.

WaystarRoycoCEO · 16/01/2022 22:38

I tested positive last week. No symptoms, just a regular ltf as I work in a school. I have remained completely symptom free. My eldest unfortunately has tested positive and was unwell Fri/sat with headaches and temp but is now totally fine.

A friend of mine had an antibody test come back positive for previous infection - she has absolutely no idea when she might have had it. And I also have a number of friends who’s children have tested positive and not had a single symptom.

Whatsyourfavouritescarymovie · 17/01/2022 13:04

The lady who lives over the road from me had it, she had a positive LFT and PCR, absolutely no symptoms at all, she said she felt fine, only reason she took a test was because she'd been in contact with someone who had symptoms. She carried on as normal, didn't bother isolating which a lot of people seem to be doing now anyway, I'm assuming it was the omicron variant as apparently that is more likely to cause lower or no symptoms than other variants.

Stringervest · 17/01/2022 14:11

DD had it in September, picked up by a PCR due to contact with a positive case. No symptoms. DH picked it up on a LFT at Christmas, confirmed by two PCRs (government and ONS). No symptoms. I haven't caught it either time.

TenoringBehind · 17/01/2022 14:20

My ds. No symptoms at all. He joked that he’d never felt so well as when he had Covid.

Woffle · 17/01/2022 23:29

Interesting, thanks all!

Child age 10, no symptoms at all. If he wasn't tested then no idea he had it.

bluesky45 · 17/01/2022 23:39

My 4 year old has it now, completely asymptomatic. We tested him due to lots of cases in his building at nursery. His younger brother has a snotty nose which started before the cases in his brothers nursery class but is testing negative.
So I have 2 DC at home, one of whom is "ill" but acting totally fine and one of whom is actually ill but could go out and about if there was someone to take him!
Totally counter intuitive!
4 year old only tested positive on Saturday though so it's possible he will still show symptoms yet, I'm hoping not though.

Woffle · 25/07/2023 13:43

I just stumbled back across this thread - two months after starting it, I had asymptomatic Covid! Crazy how things work out as I was in the vulnerable category.

Yes except for a painless weird rash. Dh and DCs all poorly.

RaraRachael · 25/07/2023 14:32

I had Covid and felt nothing at all. I wasn't testing on a regular basis and only got tested because OH's work colleague was positive and he got tested. If it hadn't been for him I'd have been carrying on as usual,

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 30/07/2023 21:01

My 88 year old Uncle. He only knew he had it as his partner wasn't well and tested because she had a hospital appointment. He tested a few days later and was positive. He was fine, outside cutting his grass and carrying on as normal and said he felt like a fraud when I got his shopping for him!

Twiglets1 · 31/07/2023 09:03

My friend works in an old people’s home. At the height of Covid she told me that they tested all the residents and quite a few of the oldies tested positive with no apparent symptoms at all.

Now barely anyone is still testing for Covid, asymptomatic people could easily have it and not know 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lovemusic33 · 02/08/2023 15:07

Me, first time I had it. It was during the days of drive though testing, dd1 was unwell so we went to the test centre, I tested to make dd1 feel better about doing it. My test came back positive as did DD’s. I had no symptoms at all. I have have it twice since with symptoms.

Marmunia10667 · 09/08/2023 20:05

Yes, only had a bit of a headache for 4 days. Unvaccinated though. Seems vaxxed people are suffering more!

minny80 · 09/08/2023 20:12

December 2021: I tested myself with my son who had a cough, he was negative and I was positive. No symptoms at all

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 09/08/2023 20:16

Had my first jab; mild symptoms the day after like many people did. Symptoms lasted half a day. Was offered a test a day later by the Zoe app and it came back positive.

inloveonholiday · 09/08/2023 20:27

I was symptom free for the first three days, testing positive and not believing the bright red double lines.

Then I got a slight cough for half an hour and muzzy head on day four.

Muzzy head remained on day 5.

Fine again after day 5.

I tested positive for 9 days.

I recently had an ordinary head cold (not covid) and ended up in hospital with breathing difficulties.
