Surely it’s just the line of whatever chemical would turn red if it was positive? So it’s a negative test because it’s not red.

dementedpixie · 15/01/2022 11:44

I'd do another one. I would count it as void

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 11:45

But no other tests show this white line?!

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 11:45

Just this one DCs

Try another pack of tests.

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 11:48

The rest of us have used this pack - not drip feeding DH went red so he positive. Mine was clear as was other DC. Just this one coming up with a white line twice

Can you ring 119 and ask them? Won't have been the first time this has happened. I'm wondering if this is a very early indication of a positive result. DP had a very faint line in the evening and same the next morning when he was positive. I've tested negative every time so far and there's been nothing at all where the T line is.

FawnFrenchieMum · 15/01/2022 11:49

I’ve never seen that before. I’d probably book a PCR to get a definitive answer. Especially as you have someone positive in the household.

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 11:50

Yes maybe a very low viral road. The school has told us to assume every child is a close contact of covid as there is so much in the school and now with DH positive we are all close contacts.

Any more ideas?!

I'd book for a PCR. You can do that if you need to clarify void previous tests

EducatingArti · 15/01/2022 12:59

I had two like this while I was waiting for a PCR and the PCR was positive. All other LFT were always negative through the entire time I was isolating. I had hardly any symptoms so assume I had a very low amount of infection.

KiloWhat · 15/01/2022 13:09

I'd do a pcr

LadyPenelope68 · 15/01/2022 13:36

I’d get a PCR

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 13:53

Ok thanks peeps

This has happened to us loads. It usually happens when we’ve put too much of the liquid in, and it floods so the ink goes all over except the white line. The white line is where it would trigger a positive if any of the antigen is present.

So I always take these as negative.

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 13:57

Ahh thanks @Iggly that’s helpful!

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 13:57

It’s just cos only happening for this one DC!

OP posts:
Sleepyteach · 15/01/2022 13:59

Mine and DHs both went like this well after the 15-30 minute time limit and then the following day we both had strong, instant positives. (Positive line was there before the liquid got to the control line)

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 13:59

We are isolating now cos of DH over the weekend and I know the PCR centres are overwhelmed so I’ll LFT from another kit tomorrow and then see what result we get then I’ll PCr. As DC has no symptoms I’m not supposed to PCR

OP posts:
RenGreen · 15/01/2022 14:00

Yesterday’s and today’s LFT been like this for DC

OP posts:
Turquoisesea · 15/01/2022 14:00

I’ve had a couple like that and just assumed I had put too much liquid on. But if you’ve got covid in the house maybe worth redoing.

Watsername · 15/01/2022 16:09

That happened to me. After a while the pink background went white and left a very pale grey line. I went for a PCR as was coldy but the PCR was negative.
