My day 9 and 10 lateral flow tests looked like that at the end of having covid.

dementedpixie · 15/01/2022 16:15

@RenGreen

We are isolating now cos of DH over the weekend and I know the PCR centres are overwhelmed so I’ll LFT from another kit tomorrow and then see what result we get then I’ll PCr. As DC has no symptoms I’m not supposed to PCR
You can do a pcr with no symptoms if you are querying a void lft
merrygoround23 · 15/01/2022 16:20

Ultra negative

Decaffe · 15/01/2022 16:21

I had that white line on a FRER a few days ago. Very strange and no idea what to make of it!

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 16:41

Ultra negative

I think you've put too much liquid in so the red from the C line has run. The white is where the T line is. It has stayed white because it would only go red if the virus was present.

WeAreTheHeroes · 15/01/2022 17:57

@Watsername

That happened to me. After a while the pink background went white and left a very pale grey line. I went for a PCR as was coldy but the PCR was negative.
You're supposed to discount changes after 30 minutes of putting the liquid on the cartridge.
RenGreen · 15/01/2022 18:58

Thanks everyone going for the too much liquid idea…but not sure why only with this DC happened twice

It doesn’t always happen - sometimes it does, sometimes not 🤷🏻‍♀️

The LFTs aren’t that reliable anyway. So I would always go for a PCR with covid in the house!

fuckweasel · 15/01/2022 20:09

I've just had this on a test yesterday and another today. I work in a school where covid is rife so wouldn't be a surprise if I was positive. Going to do another one later or tomorrow and see what happens.

RenGreen · 15/01/2022 21:08

So confusing - DH PCR come back positive! He had to do PCR as has underlying condition….we deffo have covid in the house …

OP posts:
RenGreen · 15/01/2022 21:08

So DC could be positive … but DH line was ridiculously strong from the same kit

Honestly, LFTs just aren’t accurate. I would absolutely get a PCR

Gunpowder · 15/01/2022 21:17

We have Covid in the house at the moment. DD2’s LFD was like this the day before she had a positive test.

Haroweller · 15/01/2022 21:22

Happened to my neighbour yesterday, she did 3 more LFT all negative and a PCR which has also come back negative.

I think it was probably a faulty batch

Hmmm!! Will do LFTs from a new set tomorrow then PCR if they’re also funny

So my sons been coughing and not quite him self so I did I lateral flow test. The background turned pink and there was a distinctive white line along the positive bit! Does this mean negative as white line or has all the dye gone in the background so line is white? Don’t know how to add a picture

frenchiemummy92 · 09/02/2022 04:38

We've had a few do this with only my eldest DD. She had also been a close contact. Happened for a few days then stopped. No idea why either

Madmog · 09/02/2022 08:20

Carlie0408 had one that went like that after the 30 min limit. I then used a different brand nine and 12 hours later. One came up with the faintest line, any other time I'd have missed it but I was feeling poorly and DH had Covid. Second one three hours later, which had a clear faint greyish line. Work require a PCR which was positive.

I'd keep at home and get a PCR, especially as you mention one of the three main symptoms.
