The telegraph are reporting more parties... The night before Prince Philip's funeral.

  • party spilled out into garden
-someone broke Wilf's swing in tthe garden Confused -someone sent with a suitcase to buy booze from the co-op

When the telegraph of all papers are reporting it, he's surely done for now?

Apologies if another thread on this, couldn't see one

Boris Johnson, who may be able to deliver them another election victory,

I don’t know what you’re on but can I have some? He’s a complete electoral liability now.

VikingOnTheFridge · 18/01/2022 14:08

As stated earlier, do you really think that anybody would regard Cummings as a reliable witness when it comes to breaking Covid regulations?

The thing with Cummings is you always wonder what dirt he's got. I don't trust him but I also think there's a reasonable possibility he wants Johnson to come out and lie so he can then release something else.

the80sweregreat · 18/01/2022 14:10

They are playing the interview now , Beth isn't holding back.
He looks so tired , sunken eyes.
No wonder his kept his mask on to lie through !
When is this inquiry going to be published?
Seems to be a lot riding on it

the80sweregreat · 18/01/2022 14:15

You can't see Boris Johnson's lips moving now his out of ' isolation ' and keeping his mask on so maybe he thinks we won't notice he is not telling the whole truth ?
Just a pair of worried eyes

vera99 · 18/01/2022 14:15

Probably the best summation I have seen this year watched it five times already - truly brilliant takedown. PMQs is going to be a must-see tomorrow once again.

Curiousmouse · 18/01/2022 14:19

@Florianus what's Cummings got to do with that article?? Johnson says he didn't follow the rules became nobody told him what they were. As if he was t in charge. Other people lying or not has nothing to do with that, regardless of anything you said earlier.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 18/01/2022 14:28

Both those Led By Donkeys clips are extraordinarily powerful. He HAS to go.

the80sweregreat · 18/01/2022 14:36

Rishi sunak has walked out of an interview with Sky ( I think ) concerning the PM now !
He looked rattled.

Wow. I reckon they’re all rattled.
VikingOnTheFridge · 18/01/2022 15:03

Rattled and also excited in Rishi's case, one imagines.

I’m not sure, he’s bright enough to see the Tory leadership is a poison chalice right now.

It is, but he's also pretty much ridden his luck to get this far. He isn't a PM in waiting type who can choose his moment. And it was evident from him trying to disappear last Wednesday that he's wanting to keep his powder dry and stay out of the way.

That's not what most of his MPs think. So far there have been only 6 MPs expressing no confidence in Johnson. That's miles away from the 54 needed to trigger an election.

The point, if it really wasn't clear, is that previous prime minister Tony Blair lied to parliament on a much more serious matter and he remained in post for another five years.

And Johnson was not "in charge" of the parties. They were organised by the No.10 Chief of Staff for the benefit of the civil service staff working there.

Curiousmouse · 18/01/2022 15:24

No, it isnt about that, or anything that another party has done. It's about developing rules for a serious pandemic, remembering them, and following them yourself.

Not sure where you’re getting your figures from. I read that there were over 20 letters already in with numerous more - especially the 2019 intake - waiting to see what Sue Gray says. MPs’ inboxes are crammed with furious emails and more than one Conservative association has no confidenced him.

[/quote] Not very well informed, though. For example, civil service staff who work at No.10 do not give their names to police officers as they enter the building - as claimed - they merely show their pass to the doorman.
Blossomtoes · 18/01/2022 15:27

Blair wasn’t responsible for the deaths of 150,000 British citizens and he didn’t make rules for the population and flagrantly disobey them himself.

Nor did Boris Johnson. The rules to which you refer were made by parliament.
VikingOnTheFridge · 18/01/2022 15:32

There have been 6 Tory MPs who have publicly stated they've sent their letters. This obviously can't be assumed to be the same as the total number.

Blossomtoes · 18/01/2022 15:33

I don’t think you understand the role of PM @Florianus.

Well there'sa saving to be made. Nonetheless for a PM or a cabinet, Parliament can.just crack on 🤣🤣🤣

The figure (6) is the number of MPs who have said they have written to the 1922 committee. Anything more is purely wishful thinking as Graham Brady (Chair of the 1922) is famous for never revealing the number of letters received unless and until such time that the minimum (54) is reached.

It was reported in the press yesterday that many MPs came back from their constituency meetings reporting that most of the public were totally disinterested in what happened at gatherings held more than a year ago, and were much more concerned with current matters such as the likely impact of removing the energy cap in April.

VikingOnTheFridge · 18/01/2022 15:37

Some of the amendments to the covid regulations became law before coming before Parliament. I can't be arsed to look it up, but it would be interesting if someone checked whether any of these incidents occurred in those periods.
