Just heard on the wireless that from Monday 17th the isolation time will be five days. Another step towards getting back to normal and will help with staff shortages.

It's interesting. I see more adults saying that they have it or are still positive so have some time off. I think you're more likely to lie that children haven't got it to keep them in school due to them already missing so much. I think testing will be gone by the end of February. We might only continue to do it in card homes hospitals etc.

@puppetear

What’s the benefit, *@Caddycat*?
Many countries accept it as a valid covid pass to get into venues/events, as a valid reason not to have the next jab straightaway...

But those people who have to test for work, school etc don’t have to test, they have to record a result. You can record a negative lateral flow by saying it’s negative and they send back a text saying you are negative. The whole current system is built on trust, people coming forward to test, taking tests at home etc. Those self same people who comply with all of this suddenly become dishonest liers on day five of isolation and make up a negative test?…covid really does have some interesting side effects it seems to result in a complete personality change according to posters on here! I think if you really don’t want to isolate there is enough flexibility in the current rules, to cheat lie etc, the new rules don’t change that!

I think some people will just lie to use this to their advantage.Tell work they are still positive to get more time off, tell friends they are now negative so they can socialise with them.

I hope we get rid of testing altogether (perhaps apart from hospitals and care homes) - at least the environment will be spared all these thousands pieces of plastic.

@CurlyhairedAssassin

How are employers going to ensure that people don't take the mick and just say that their LFT was positive and it wasn't, just to have a few more days off? I'm not sure they could insist on seeing them? And crafty people could just show one from a few days earlier...
My employer is requesting proof.
Wizzbangfizz · 13/01/2022 16:32

Step in right direction - no axe testing as much as possible.

mrsnw · 13/01/2022 16:33

How can you prove you have tested positive or negative? It's a trust based system. We can all work it to our advantage some way.

Angel2702 · 13/01/2022 16:34

I don’t know anyone that was negative on day 6/7. I think those testing more regularly are likely to be positive longer, those testing negative on day 5/6 are likely those that are actually further along in the infection and just didn’t test in time to catch the first few days.

2022HowDoYouDo · 13/01/2022 18:07

Day 9 for me and just got a strong positive test result. My previous tests have only shown a faint positive, so I don't know what's going on? Really fed-up now.
