Experience of (probable) omicron variant in 75 year olds

Just spent the weekend with my parents and did a LFT when home pre return to work. Positive for my husband Sad

Probably been asked before but looking for experience of the disease in 75 year olds (triple vaccinated). Such bad timing - we don’t see them that often.

Thanks in advance

My FIL is 76 and had covid. He said it was like a cold and he said that “super cold” he had earlier in the year last year was worse

85 year (male) old relative had it over Xmas and gave it to us He felt "rough" for a few days (cough/cold symptoms) but was negative on day 6 and 7 and went about like as normal after that.

95 year old grandparent was asymptomatic and 75 year old in law described it like having a chest infection on the worst few days. Both triple vaccinated and had it over Christmas.

Just an update - so far they are all well and negative on LFT. So relieved. Thanks again all.
@AlandAnna hope DH doesn't feel too rough with it & your parents don't it (you either!!)

How many days previously had DH tested?
He was negative the Tuesday before we saw them on Friday morning. In hindsight we should have tested again. He definitely had onset of symptoms while we were with them. But it’s been nearly a week and they are well, so fingers crossed they dodged it.

If he had onset of symptoms why on earth did you stay there? I'm not kicking you as you must be doing that enough yourself, but the best time to use LFTs if you're going to is right before (on the day) you go to see someone vulnerable.

I really hope they're ok though and hopefully don't catch it, if they do fingers crossed that it's mild. Some really reassuring posts here.

It was only looking back after his positive LFT that he had onset of symptoms while there - slightly dry throat but otherwise well.

Bit younger, 71 but fine, heavy cold seems to have enjoyed the re discovery of viks vapour rub. Well enough abs testing negative on lateral flows after a week. Certainly a lot better than flu by all accounts.
