I have had 2 injections. Heard yesterday that people in hospital were unvaxxed or unboosted do you think its true?

really dont fancy a third jab whats the likelihood of ending up in hospital thoughif you catch it unboosted?

I am part of the ons study and have been giving monthly blood samples for antibodies. 5 1/2 months after my second vacinne I had my first negative for antibodies. I had to wait 2 more weeks for my vacinne and then 2 more weeks for it to become effective. Just because you've had two vaccinations doesn't mean you have the antibodies.

Nyfluff · 05/01/2022 23:21

UK gov said that AZ had 0% effectiveness after 20 weeks, so a booster seems very wise.

Cherrytart23 · 05/01/2022 23:31

@elastamum

Honestly, do your bit for society and get a booster. Many hospitals are being overwhelmed, I'm sure you don't want to be in the position where you require a hospital bed, or a GP appointment but there isn't one available.
Easy to say do your bit but when ive had terrible side affects from doing my bit having the first 2 jabs the booster is not on my list of priorities.

My friend has covid in 2020 pre vaccine, not asymptomatic but no worse than a cold and contained working (from home) throughout. 2 vaccines and 1 booster later was hospitalised so…

Emmelina · 05/01/2022 23:41

Boris only opened boosters up to everyone over 18 on the 13th or so of December. I had already been boosted for medical reasons by then, but others I know are only now having their appointments even though they booked as soon as they could. It’s not necessarily that people haven’t got them by choice and then fallen ill, but that Omicron got there first.

OnceUponAWhine · 05/01/2022 23:45

I’ve had two, not in any rush to get a third vaccine/booster. I’m not in the demographic who is severely impacted. If I get ill, I’ll be responsible enough to stay at home, as I have done with colds, flu and viruses in the past. I consider myself in overall good health for my age, so if it impacts me in any other way, even with these positive factors, unfortunately that’s life. I’m not antivax in any way, but I am pro choice at this stage, as the most vulnerable are protected.

OP shouldn’t have health anxiety triggered by folk pumping out stats about those in hospital. OP isn’t unvaccinated and quite rightly is questioning the validity of a third vaccine in a short time, as many of us are.

JassyRadlett · 05/01/2022 23:47

With the boosters, does anyone know if it's the case that boosters are needed (as in three courses) to be effective at preventing hospitalisation now, or is it just the case that second doses are wearing off and the booster is just a top up to get it back up to two-dose levels?

A booster takes antibody levels to way above the level seen at the high point after 2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna, regardless of which vaccine was used for the first two doses.

Of course, we give many more vaccines to small babies in an 8 week window.

I can understand people feeling naturally worried about this as they equate vaccines with drugs and worry about cumulative impact when vaccines don’t work until hat way - they don’t accumulate in the body like some medications do. I do wonder what sort of information people would find reassuring about having three doses in a year?

Badassbreastfeeder85 · 05/01/2022 23:54

I'm not vaccinated and I've got covid and I've had worse colds to be honest

Sportslady44 · 06/01/2022 13:30

had booster today.

@Badassbreastfeeder85
You're lucky then. My previously healthy DH's experience prior to vaccination development was horrendous, involving a 9 month hospital stay , 4 months of which involved a tracheostomy connecting to a ventilator while he was continuously dialysed. So please don't make light of this and be grateful your life and your children's lives aren't changed forever.

done.

I think if you have health anxiety that is triggered by facts, it would be a good idea to get the booster that will help you stay protected.

Much better to ask questions, find out facts and make a decision based on that. Which the OP has done, and got the booster.

I have seen someone with the same claims as you - not in the demographic several impacted, in overall good health etc - die. She had only had one vaccine at the time - this was late last summer. It has destroyed her family, she was 37 and it's just been so horrible. She was very slightly overweight - I mean, a few pounds, you definitely wouldn't have looked at her and thought she was overweight, fit and healthy otherwise. It's just been so awful.

frazzledali · 07/01/2022 14:59

demographic SEVERELY impacted, that should say.

Cookiesandscones · 07/01/2022 15:06

@Sportslady44 I was 2x az and 1 Pfizer booster and I felt fine the next day I didn’t have a very good nights sleep after the booster but I couldn’t say it was down to anything but my anxiety waking me up to see if I felt Ill other than that I was fine with no side effects so don’t worry too much and hopefully you will be fine

MayaK · 08/01/2022 21:11

How are you feeling after your booster OP?
