How long did omicron take you down for?

Apologies if this has been done before, couldn't find anything. Even a general Google gives too many responses about Covid in general.

I had Covid last March. Wiped me out for a month, was in bed for 2 weeks of that month.

Jabbed in between and now Covid again. Omicron I assume.

Currently on day 4.
Day 1- headache all day
Day 2- headache all day plus mild sore throat
Day 3- woke with sore throat, turned into aches and mild cough throughout the day
Today- feeling horribly achey, sore throat, mild cough.

Anyone similar that can tell me what day you turned a corner and which day you were fine?

I realise everyone's different but I'm feeling shit and if most people say day 5/7 etc then at least i can look forward to that. Given you can test and end isolation day 6 and 7 I assumed by then but it feels unlikely I'd go from how I am to fine in 2 days.

B vits and lots of magnesium ( in the bath and as a supplement) seem to be helping recovery..

isitnewyearyet · 06/01/2022 23:44

Three days of mild to moderate symptoms. Was able to carry out 80 percent of usual activities and chores during this time

greyinganddecaying · 06/01/2022 23:45

17 days and counting. Exhausted, headaches etc
Triple jabbed (booster was 6 weeks before positive test).

SeeminglyOblivious · 06/01/2022 23:52

35 and unvaccinated, no health issues but overweight.

Days 1 and 2 - horrendous headache constantly, mild on/off temp, sore throat, mild nausea and one bout of diarrhoea.
Day 3 - tiredness, other symptoms gone.
Currently on day 6 and feel fine.

Dh had different but similarly 'mild' symptoms for 2/3 days - high temperature, night sweats, headache, mild breathless feeling. Also now feels fine. He's also unvaccinated.

pastaparadise · 06/01/2022 23:58

My 83 year old dm, triple vexed. Slight hoarseness and runny nose on day 1 (+ve lateral flow, still waiting for pcr result). Nothing since and Day 5 now so hoping she stays well.

OddshoesOddsocks · 07/01/2022 00:05

Glad you’re feeling better! We are on day 10 and 11 here (me and dh), today was my freedom day!

Day 2-6 I don’t think we moved off the sofa, insomniac dh slept 12 hours straight!

Nights 5 and 6 were my worst, my skin hurt all over and I could’ve lie in bed or anything, I just wanted to rip my own skin off!!

Day 7 felt on the up and now feeling fairly normal but find I go down hill quickly if I do too much.

TheVanguardSix · 07/01/2022 00:11

I’d say actively ill for a week. But just when I thought I was out of the woods, the headache and sinusitis came back on day 10. It’s about 17-18 days now and I’m ok but exhausted and the vertigo has been unbelievable. I had unbearable vertigo all day yesterday/ last night- the worst I’ve ever experienced. I took Sudafed and that’s really helped. I feel much better today- vertigo is totally gone but my tinnitus is still bad.

Covidtrap · 07/01/2022 01:15

Currently on day day 3 and dont feel too bad just a stuffy nose and definitely dont have as much energy. Day 0 and day 1 where the worst for me. Fever, fatigue, terrible back pain, felt cold to the bone. Things seem to be looking brighter so hope it stays this way. Can i ask if anyone else in your household caught it how long was the incubation period roughly before they tested positive? Both dp and ds are still testing negative 3 days on from my positive result.

Today is day 6 for me and day 7 for DH (from first symptoms). 3 dc who we haven't isolated from at all (youngest of whom sleeps in bed with me and dh every night!) and all still negative so far.

Kitkat151 · 07/01/2022 01:33

Turned a corner on day 6 ( today) ... still not feeling great....but miles better than I was

ToManySnacks · 07/01/2022 01:35

People can only leave isolation early if two negative tests 24 hours apart and only IF you feel well and you havent got any other symptoms apart from a cough and loss of taste and smell as these can last awhile

If you still have other symptoms / fever etc
Do not leave isolation till atleast day 10

PinkButtercups · 07/01/2022 01:36

I was very lucky in the fact I had it mild.
Still in isolation though. Started off with a sore throat. LF negative. Then I had aches before I went to bed and my knee shed through out the day on and off. Blocked nose for 2 days.

DP tested positive and I did 4 days after him. DS 3 days after DP.

Anyway, I was going about my business as I was LF everyday because I was a close contact. I done one test that morning which was negative but straight after I done another and swabbed my throat too. I know you shouldn't on flowflex but I did. Showed up positive straight away. PCR also confirmed it was positive. Sometimes worth swabbing your throat too.

PinkButtercups · 07/01/2022 01:37

Ached* not shed.

coastergirl · 07/01/2022 01:48

I had covid end of nov/start of Dec 2020. Body aches and tired but nothing else. I was fine to go back to work when isolation ended.

Started feeling rough this time on Christmas day, tested positive. So much worse this time. Bad cough, temperature, reduced taste and smell (but not completely gone). I just generally feel really unwell. I'm now on day 14 and have only just had a negative lft. I'm still finding that if I do too much (not much at all) I feel awful again.

foxgoosefinch · 07/01/2022 02:18

@Plantsandpuddlesuits

Probably not usual but day 9 here and only able to stand for about half an hour then need to have a sit down!
Me too - symptoms were relatively mild for the 6-7 days that I was testing positive, but they are annoyingly persistent. Still getting quite bad back and joint aches if I’m standing or doing anything on my feet gif more than a few minutes. I’ve still got a dry cough, don’t feel 100% and am very tired.

ToastCrumbsOnAPlate · 07/01/2022 10:32

I started with a sore throat , fever and aches and lost and regained those symptoms until about day 10. Now I'm on day 19 and still not great. I'm exhausted and short of breath with some wheezing. The gp prescribed me a 5 day course of steroids yesterday after a check up as I still can't walk more than 5 minutes without needing a rest.

I'm in my 40s , double vaccinated and I have very mild asthma that hasn't needed extra treatment in about a decade.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 07/01/2022 10:34

I'm on day 5 now and have felt fine the last couple of days, just a bit tired

Pleasedontdothat · 07/01/2022 11:48

Day 7 - I woke up feeling a lot better but have just cleared out two kitchen drawers and it’s completely wiped me out - everything’s aching again and I need to lie down - I feel pathetic..

SmallestInTheClass · 07/01/2022 12:08

Day 1-3 headache, cold symptoms (runny nose, sneezing). Out of bed, but not doing much, spent a lot of time on the sofa.
Day 4 - felt better, did some light housework, wiped me out, back to the sofa.
Day 5-6 headache and a mild cough (LFT was still v strong positive)
Day 7 - felt normal for the first time
Day 8 - return of an awful sinus headache, tried to WFH but gave up after a couple of hours and had to sleep it off.
Day 9 - debilitating headache continued, didn't move much from the sofa. LFT was faint positive.
Day 10 - felt much better, able to WFH for most of the day. Still tired but more normal.
Day 11 - similar to day 10.
I'm not assuming anything at this stage and will be taking it easy for another week or so at least. Doing anything too much seems to be putting my recovery back.

blueberrytea · 07/01/2022 12:26

@Dollface20 That's interesting about your anxiety, mine has been sky-high since I tested positive on New Year's Eve. Still feeling jittery and on edge now.

ToastCrumbsOnAPlate · 07/01/2022 13:01

I can understand the anxiety some of you are feeling. It's the unpredictability of it all.

For example , my relative is clinically vulnerable and unvaccinated at the advice of her gp. She had covid back last summer and shock it off within a week and a half. We're assuming she had the delta variant

While I , younger , double vaccinated and with very mild asthma have struggled to bounce back and had to see a gp on day 19 for steroids. I'm assuming I had omicron too as it's everywhere now.

CrazySnakeWoman · 07/01/2022 13:06

Interesting reading others experiences.
I’m on Day 4 since symptoms started and feeling progressively worse. I seem to be a bit better in the day and then my temperature rockets at night.

Triple-vaxxed. Had covid last summer, too.

soyabean · 07/01/2022 14:54

Hi I’m on day 23 and still feeling ill.
@greyinganddecaying mine sounds a bit like your experience. From your username, wondering if it’s connected to age? I’m 59. A bunch of colleagues got it at the same time as me but they all felt either not ill at all or better after a day or two.
I am exhausted by washing up or going for a 20 minute slow walk, and have persistent headache as well as earache, sore throat.
It’s the fatigue that is really hard to cope with. And anxiety about when to return to work. I have a sick note this week.

soyabean · 07/01/2022 14:57

PS I should say I presume it’s omicron but I don’t know for sure.
