... what was the time delay between the infections?

I had it in the second half of October and am wondering - given how different the new variant is - whether I'm likely to catch it again very soon or whether I should still be 'safe' for a while longer. I have seen many posters refer to getting it twice but they all seem to have had it in 2020 and then again in 2021, perhaps a year apart.

And before anyone asks (1) I had two AZ jabs in April and July and (2) will be getting a booster jab within the next couple of weeks.

I fully expect to get COVID again in 2022 with or without the booster, but would also expect only mild illness due to previous vaccination and infection. (TBH only going to get boostered because of the hassle from family and friends if I refuse it.) Just not sure how early in 2022 I should expect to catch it again.

Yes had covid late October and again just now over Christmas. Symptoms pretty similar both times... achy and flu like

Your chance of getting it in the coming days/weeks as someone who isn't fully vaccinated is higher than it's ever been.

That's why everyone is being encouraged to get their booster now it they haven't yet - because two jabs aren't enough, and more than one in 30 people are estimated to have symptomatic Covid at the moment in the UK.

If you had your second jab in July, you'll have little to no protection.

Do get your booster booked as soon as you can or just turn up somewhere offering walk-ins. Even as a mild illness, it's annoying to be stuck indoors for a week or more.

End of July 21, have it again now. Both times lasted over a month but I have lousy immunity. Also had it March 2020. I'm bored rigid of being stuck in bed!
I wear 3 masks! Made no difference at all! Also had 2 vaccines. Whatever happened to natural immunity? I guess we are all so utterly different.

Each time has been different, this time there’s more sickness and sinus issues, the first two it was mostly a headache and fatigue. LF negative each time, have taken multiple! No idea why. Really fed up now, praying there’s no 4th!

Also, have both vaccines and about to get the booster. Only came available for my age group a few days before this bout or I would have had it

2020 feb
2021 October

And testing as I suspect it's doing the rounds again in our house.

I'm only single jabbed as the first jab Pfizer had me back in hospital so I'm actually so worried about having the 2nd and boosters as my body seems so so sick and exhausted that even the jabs are impacting me.

I'm wondering that as I had a positive test on December 1st (presumably delta as there was very little omicron about in my area then.) My dh caught it from me. It was like a bad cold for both of us and I was left with a lingering cough which has only just cleared up.

My two ds's managed to avoid catching it from us - I assumed their vaccines being more recent than ours had protected them.

Fast forward to yesterday and ds1 did an LFT before going out for NYE and it was positive. He's completely asymptomatic. He went for a PCR which has also come back positive. Today ds2 has tested positive on a LFT. He's got a bad sore throat but no other symptoms.

So I'm guessing that it's omicron they've got and wondering how likely it is I'm going to get it again after a month. I only had my booster on Thursday as I was supposed to get it just after I originally tested positive.

I'm not even sure work will believe me if I have to isolate again so soon.

Summersdreaming · 02/01/2022 11:09

@Khara that would be rubbish luck. I'm the only one positive in my house and we haven't stayed apart. DP and dd both negative- dd is 12, no jabs and never had covid as far as we know, so fingers crossed you swerve it this time.

Sonata13 · 02/01/2022 12:16

@SSCCLL really feel for you. You sound like me. Hugs.

Sorry for not coming back to the thread before. Am even more interested in this topic now, as we were deliberately exposed to COVID on Sunday by my idiot BIL who was still getting an instant strong positive result on his LFTs but left isolation early anyway and came to a family meal (grrrrrrrrrrrrrr). I guess if we don't come down with it in the next few days, we can assume that our immunity held up!
