Booster side effects ongoing for over 2 weeks

JustMeNow1 · 01/01/2022 10:04

Hello,

I had the Pfizer booster over 2 weeks ago. First 3 days, I had flu like symptoms, mild headache and brain fog which lasted over 5 days.

I expected side effects (first AZ jab was bad!) but now, after 2 weeks, I am still experiencing headaches on and off (mild), nausea and severe fatigue and generally feel unwell.

I’ve gone from exercising 6 days a week and jumping out of bed at 6.30pm to having zero energy and barely being able to walk the dog.

I had a cold (not Covid) a week after having the vaccine which didn’t help matters.

Can anyone please advise on whether I should just ride this out and carry on with life or get myself checked out? I feel awful and the thought of going back to work is overwhelming!

I’m beginning to wonder whether the symptoms are from the vaccine now… or maybe something else.

Exactly the same here since my booster 3 weeks ago. Haven't been able to get out of bed before 11am most days (normally up and alert at 7/8) lethargic and feel like I could sleep for a week all the time. I haven't been sleeping so put it down to that but this is making me rethink. Also had a couple of nauseous episodes but that seems to have subsided now. Could it really been the vaccine?

Been testing regularly so not Covid. Booster was Pfizer, previous two AZ.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/01/2022 23:03

I am four days post booster and not feeling great. The first night I felt unwell, and a bit sleepless, the next night was much worse, like flu, everything hurting, weirdly unable to sleep at all, ringing ears. Now I feel a bit breathless, slightly achey and as though I am dragging myself around. I was ill for over a week with the first AZ and for over a month with the second.
I don’t think I can cope with another one. I hope this wears off soon.

Why are people doing lfts when they're symptomatic and then not getting a pcr?

HELPNEEDHELP12398765 · 02/01/2022 09:49

I've been feeling unwell since my booster 2 weeks ago too. Pounding headache, exhausted all the time, sore throat and ears are blocked on one side every day when I wake up (the only time I've ever had this before was when I had covid a few months ago). I've had 2 pcrs since the booster both negative, so it's either a side effect of the vaccine (I've had 3x pfizer) or it's coincidence and I've caught another virus at the same sort of time.

orderagain · 02/01/2022 11:31

I suspect you've had Covid, despite the negative lateral flows. You probably should have done a pcr test at the time of your cough. I'm
Not sure now, that a pcr will be that accurate, as you are probably on the road to recovery

Ladysamantha · 02/01/2022 21:00
@Ladysamantha did it go away?
Yes, I felt unwell for three weeks - the symptoms came on and went away gradually within that time.

I had lots of differents symptoms in that time. When I visited a&e they did an ecg, chest xray, pcr and blood tests and everything was Normal.
Dr says it was probably a reaction to the booster and that they'd had a few people coming in with reactions to the booster.

I reported my symptoms to yellow card too.

I had my booster back in September

RunAwayNow · 02/01/2022 21:08

If you only had your booster 2 weeks ago, then picked up a cold 1 week ago, you probably still have the cold! There's a really nasty one going around, I've been really laid low with it for 2 weeks and still not better. Negative pcrs and lfts and booster was 4 weeks ago, so definitely a cold.

Sorryusernamealreadyexists · 02/01/2022 22:38

This is exactly why I’m waiting until the very last moment for mine, horrendous side effects from both of the last ones that I wasn’t risking having over Christmas.

gilorga · 02/01/2022 23:16

@Ladysamantha glad to hear

Scottishflower65 · 02/01/2022 23:28

All my health stats deteriorated after booster and no sign of recovery.

1921census · 03/01/2022 05:02

I had my moderna booster on 17th dec and felt unwell for about 5 days ( very sore arm, armpit, fatigue, headaches, nausea) I then developed a slight sore throat (always worse overnight). I still have the one sided sore throat now. I’ve done LFT regularly since - all negative.

I’m not anti vax but am starting to wonder whether all these vaccines are good for us long term. I’ve had 4 vaccines this year when including the standard flu jab - I felt absolutely appalling after that one too, enough to spend a few days in bed.

Hope to god we don’t find out in years to come that these things have affected us in some way

SirVixofVixHall · 03/01/2022 10:34

Which stats have been affected Scot ? I am feeling a bit better, managed to go for a walk yesterday but then feel asleep when I got back. Ringing in the ears an issue . I still feel slightly tender all over. I felt weirdly weepy for days after the vaccine, and after the AZ too, I had forgotten about that.
JS87 · 03/01/2022 10:37

Try an antihistamine. Both covid and the vaccine can elevate histamine levels and they can give you brain fog and fatigue- if you get hayfever you often feel drained at the same time. I felt really tired like I get with hayfever after second jab and when I took an antihistamine perked up.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 03/01/2022 10:37

Lft in no way accurate , you've probably had covid
Amazed how people are saying for certain " it's not covid " using a self administered test which is about 60% accurate , when displaying all the symptoms

kittensinthekitchen · 03/01/2022 10:45

@JustMeNow1

What was the result of your PCR?

Toloveandtowork · 03/01/2022 10:49

I've decided not to have a booster. Had AZ vaccines and don't want the experimental mRNA ones being tested in real time and seemingly causing problems.

Eyesofdisarray · 03/01/2022 11:02

As it can take a couple of weeks to build up antibodies, it's likely that OP and others had covid or another virus. LFTs aren't 100% accurate.
Vaccination remains the best way to combat covid.
Why are mRNA vaccines being called experimental ??? There's a lot of data out there.
Hope those with viral symptoms feel better soon. Best wishes

Blubells · 03/01/2022 11:20

Why are mRNA vaccines being called experimental

Not experimental but certainly a new technology - only used for the first time with Covid vaccines.

HSHorror · 03/01/2022 11:29

Re the other poster with hand numbness - both me and friend have this after actual covid - prevax but it comes on months after covid.
Likewise ive had awful insomnia.

Op - do you have heavy periods as it could be anaemia as you use iron for antibodies

alisonsattic · 03/01/2022 11:54

Where's the source for this assumption?

They've been working with mRNA technology for 60 years, FFS. What would be enough for you? Or at least for you to stop trying to convince others against these vaccines?

The histamine link is very interesting, I’ve been wondering for a while if my peri symptoms are linked to histamine intolerance. I often get sinus issues, itchy skin / throat / mouth / ears and have IBS symptoms which can be also linked to histamine intolerance.

It did feel like the horrible brain fog and grot that I get in the summer due to allergies to pollen - I didn’t make the connection at all.

ChequerBoard · 03/01/2022 16:11

It's an irony that is not lost on me that the same people who that think a vaccine that has been around for 2 years and delivered to 3.7 billion people is somehow more experimental and unknown that Covid variant guest detected less than 2 months ago.

The let it rip merchants don't seem to be concerned about the unknown long term consequences of Omicron.

Eyesofdisarray · 03/01/2022 16:40

My 'why are mRNA vaccines being called experimental?' was really a rhetorical question borne of frustration!!
SARS viruses have been studied for years. The mRNA vaccines have been tested extensively and given to many people and yet people still don't trust them!!!!!
Good grief. We won't have to worry about long term effects of vaccines if we're not around; the here and now is surely what matters??

JuergenSchwarzwald · 03/01/2022 18:26

You are told not to have the vaccine within 28 days of having covid. I don't know why, but assume it makes you feel ill.

Is it possible that you had covid without knowing it in the days before your vaccine?

I am wondering about this with my son, as he has been off colour since he had his booster (two weeks ago).
