Booster side effects ongoing for over 2 weeks

Hello,

I had the Pfizer booster over 2 weeks ago. First 3 days, I had flu like symptoms, mild headache and brain fog which lasted over 5 days.

I expected side effects (first AZ jab was bad!) but now, after 2 weeks, I am still experiencing headaches on and off (mild), nausea and severe fatigue and generally feel unwell.

I’ve gone from exercising 6 days a week and jumping out of bed at 6.30pm to having zero energy and barely being able to walk the dog.

I had a cold (not Covid) a week after having the vaccine which didn’t help matters.

Can anyone please advise on whether I should just ride this out and carry on with life or get myself checked out? I feel awful and the thought of going back to work is overwhelming!

I’m beginning to wonder whether the symptoms are from the vaccine now… or maybe something else.

I'm still suffering with fatigue and joint pain 5 months after my second jab. I've been bed bound at times.

JustMeNow1 · 01/01/2022 10:29

@flipflop76 that doesn’t sound good. Have you had any medical advice?

I'm still suffering from fatigue 15 days since my Pfizer booster too. Waking up feeling tired after 8-9 hours of sleep and just don't feel right. Initially had an elevated resting heart rate (I use a Fitbit so can see trends over time) and mild chest tightness that seemed to go after a week or so but I'm still concerned.

First two jabs were Moderna and I've never had covid.

JustMeNow1 · 01/01/2022 12:26

@nordica hope you start to feel better soon. I guess everyone is just reacting in a different way…

Please report this on the yellow card scheme . I am sorry you are going through this, and people want their children to be exposed to this as was reading on a previous thread!!! Hope you get better soon

Meadowblossom · 01/01/2022 12:37

Could you just have picked up a virus at the same time? It’s only been 2 weeks so I would just wait - viruses often take longer to get rid of. Not sure what anyone could do if you went to get checked out.

JustMeNow1 · 01/01/2022 13:02

@Meadowblossom I did pick up a cold, so unsure whether this is contributing to everything. I just feel very strange - never felt like this before with a cold. I will wait it out and see what happens!

Did you all test? Covid is so rife atm I know two people personally who went to get their boosters and came down with covid shortly after. They all thought it was just side effects until they took a lateral flow and realised it was actually covid. They both ended up with bad cold symptoms too rather than the traditional (out of date) core symptom list.

JustMeNow1 · 01/01/2022 17:32

@IDontKnow00 yes the whole family have been testing over the Christmas period due to seeing elderly relatives. Nothing picked up on LTF.

I just posted on another thread about my Moderna booster side effects. I had a really bad reaction to first AZ but that subsided after 24 hours, barely nothing after second AZ but my booster has left me feeling dreadful two weeks on. I had really bad arm pain the day after my vaccine that moved into the lymph nodes in my armpit. This week the pain came back and was ten times worse. On Wednesday the pain moved to the left hand side of my chest and a strong crushing pain that was so scary. I phoned my GP and he called for an ambulance. I had ECG done and blood pressure and everything looked normal. But I still have pain today in my armpit and shoulder. And also the vaccine has effected my central nervous system and have tingling in my arm and hands. I also can’t sleep through the night since I had the booster and my head feels constantly foggy.

I’m not having another RNA vaccine ever again. I’ll only have a booster if I can get AZ.

AchillesLastStand · 01/01/2022 17:49

Should add that I haven’t got Covid. I’ve done multiple lateral flow tests as well as a PCR, and I never left the house for 7 days over Christmas and had no visitors.

Blubells · 01/01/2022 18:04

Some of these 'booster' side effects sound much worse than catching Omicron?!

ChequerBoard · 01/01/2022 18:10

Have you actually had a PCR test because those sound like Covid asymptomatic and not 'side effects'?

It's really easy to decide things are side effects if the jab when they could just as easily be a total coincidence.

Unless a medical professional has actually assessed you and decided that your issues are caused by the jab, you are just guessing.

IDontKnow00 · 01/01/2022 18:35

It's so strange how the vaccines effect people so differently. I felt absolutely nothing after my booster apart for a sore arm in the evening. I keep hearing of people suffering for days after it though. Must be common both ways and seems unpredictable who's going to feel what.

JustMeNow1 · 01/01/2022 18:37

@ChequerBoard - agreed it could be total coincidence. I was interested to hear if anyone else had had a similar experience. I have finally managed to order a PCR and it should be arriving tomorrow.

Please please can you yellow card?

Northsoutheastwest76 · 01/01/2022 20:59

Yes to yellow card if PCR negative.

Loustew12 · 01/01/2022 21:46

So sorry you are feeling like this. Make sure you report it to the yellow card system. It is the only way they can collect data on adverse events. The office of national statistics reckons only a fraction of adverse effects get reported.

This is what I managed tool do too - cold plus Pfizer booster. It took about 3 weeks before I felt really better but I am definitely fine now. It was slightly better in week 3 fwiw.

Feeling unwell after a vaccine isn't automatically a yellow card event. It's just as likely OP picked up A N Other virus shortly before she went for her vaccine appointment or indeed, contracted Covid which is yet to be ruled out via PCR.

Yellow carding genuine adverse advents is very important. Flooding the system with spurious co-incidences just muddies they waters and makes genuine issues harder to spot.

SantiagoSky · 01/01/2022 22:02

I had 3x Moderna each time with moderate side effects after 24 hours that went away after 48 hours.

JustMeNow1 · 01/01/2022 22:30

Thanks everyone, I will yellow card if PCR negative.
@tickly that’s great to hear!

Ladysamantha · 01/01/2022 22:30

I had side effects for three weeks after my booster. Fatigue, chills, breathlessness, insomnia, chest pains.
I had 5 PCRs in those three weeks and all were negative each time. One of them was when I ended up in A&E.
I had the Pfizer BTW.

gilorga · 01/01/2022 22:52

@Ladysamantha did it go away?

Fl0w3ry · 01/01/2022 22:56

This is interesting to read. Me and my DH had Pfizer a couple of weeks ago and we have been wondering why we feel really fatigued and keep falling asleep. I didn’t even link it to the vaccine, but wondering if that might be what’s causing it now.
I also still have a mildly sore arm from it, though it was very painful for the first few days after it.
