In England!

It's my sons birthday on Friday next week and I literally have no idea whether he'll be in or out of school, able to have a friend round or if we can go anywhere 🙈

Just wondered if any things have been leaked etc?

Sorry if this has been covered, I don't have time to scan the page thoroughly!

Even as someone who thinks there should be more restrictions I don't think the schools will close again. But god, crying "Boris says schools DEFINITELY won't close so they absolutely won't" is hardly a convincing argument given the buffoon's constant u-turns. If that prick says it then it's tempting to think the opposite will be true given his record.

Yeah, what Johnson says means nothing. Might as well try and read the tea leaves as study his promises. It's the situation he's in that makes national school closures, even just for a fortnight, so unlikely.

The prime minister has told Nadhim Zahawi, the education secretary, that he is “absolutely determined” to send children back to school after the holidays. The two, who are understood to discuss the issue almost daily, believe that education is the government’s “No 1 priority” and school closures are “not something being considered”

Zaharia has also said that school closures could not be ruled out.

If schools are a priority, sod all has been done to demonstrate that.
@Tippexy, right, so he didn't say exactly what you said then? You made up those words, "No way, ever, not happening."

He/they said they "are determined." That's a whole different thing and circumstances could quite well put a spanner in the works. You know, like this time last year, when they also said schools would not close.
Mattew Taylor of NHS Confederation and Chris Hopson of NHS Providers have tried it on again recently

Well I commented on this thread saying we'd be ok and we were.

Mmm, wasn't a particularly wise intervention by them.

@HardyBuckette When i see the NHS logo now it makes me feel nauseous and i associate it with bullying and restrictions and gaslighting, Thats how i feel when i see that logo now and how ive felt since November 2020

I feel like that when I see "Thank you NHS & Key Workers" crap still around. It very quickly began to feel vacuous back in 2020. It feels even less sincere with the issues getting access to healthcare as the waiting lists stacked up from summer 2020 when the initial major concern faded.
Still not impressed that some the children with parents of selected occupations had a greater right to education than others.

Oh well. Thank goodness it got no worse than a virtue signal of masks over last winter.

Yes, that was appalling. Some children considered worthy of education and socialisation, others not. It's a very good thing that they won't be trying that again.
