Where do you think you caught it?

Over the last week I’ve heard of so many people getting Covid. Obviously over the last 2 years there have been huge numbers.

We don’t think we’ve had it in this house. I WFH full-time, 2 teenage children school/college, 1 with a part time job, husband works full time for the police. We do adhere to masks etc, but also eat out regularly, supermarkets etc. We don’t meet up with friends much and our families are overseas/100s and 100s of miles away.

Is it just luck or are we doing something different (I’m thinking the socialising)? If you’ve had it/have it right now, how do you think you picked it up?

If I worked out the numbers right, only something like 18.6% of the population of NI has caught it

Pre jab/Delta I knew no one that had caught it, just friends of friends, relatives of relatives etc. Recently, loads of people I know seem to have it.

We've certainly no where near peaked, and I'm worried about how the NHS here will handle the surge in numbers. I don't think I've had it yet.

I’m a teacher who worked all through the lockdowns as I worked in a nursery class so we were open. I’ve two school aged children as well but have dodged it so far even though my colleagues have succumbed.
I have done a couple of anti body tests (through the Zoe ap) and they’ve been negative so I’ve definitely not had it!
Wonder how long my good fortune will stand!

@orderagain

**My theory is that those who seem to have missed it fall into 3 camps 1) the ultra cautious - still not going to shops etc2) those who don’t have school age kids and don’t have to go out to work. 3) those who are acting normally, working etc But I think these ( like you) have actually had it. Either early on before testing was available or they were asymptomatic**

interesting theory. However I think I fall into a 4th camp. I'm not being ultra cautious. Been out and about a fair bit, restaurants, they're etc. I work in health care seeing 20 or 30 patients a day, so getting constantly exposed. And I've also conducted antibody tests, so I know I didn't get any antibodies prior to my first vaccine a year ago ( ie never had Covid).

I think no 4 is probably along the lines of probs my have some sort of inherent immunity, which makes me less susceptible.

By the way just to add, I'm not entirely sure how healthy this thread is, although interesting. I think focussing on how you got Covid, or who gave it to you, could potentially be problematic. At the end of the day, a virus is gonna do what a virus does

I work in essential retail, have all the way through. Dd got it, we didn't isolate in the house as she is young. I've tested negative and never got it. So I guess I fit in that forth group too?

I went to a discotheque (this was in the summer) and 3 days later had a scratchy throat. I was with 5 other ladies and none of them got it but I assume it was there.

I don’t know many people who have had it but it seems to be train and work place. The ones with secondary school age children from school.

We haven’t yet to have it in our house (I’ve just jinxed it) that’s with a secondary age child who is friends with others who had it, and a 18 uni student who has gone to clubs and pubs. & a husband who travels fo London via train and work in an office, also travelled by plane due to work needs. It’s odd it’s like waiting for our turn ….

ason caught it as nhs walk in in centre where we had to go to get antibiotics for tonsillitis… employee walking around without a mask, actively encouraging kids to take their masks off.
He tested negative on the day we visited, positive 4 days later.
