Horrific nausea still going on 23 days after testing positive - any tips please!

I tested positive for Covid on the 3rd Dec. Luckily my symptoms were pretty mild and I'm mostly better. I just can't shake the awful nausea though. It's not all the time - it comes in waves. I'm feeling very sorry for myself today though as my Christmas dinner was toast. I just can't eat anything and the thought of food is still making me feel sick.

Has anyone else had nausea that's gone on this long? Does it ever end?! I'm thinking of trying to find a chemist that's open tomorrow and trying some anti-sickness medication. If it carries on for much longer I think I'm going to have to try and get a GP appointment but obviously that won't be possible for a few days now.

Does anyone have any tips or medication they can recommend please?

Thanks for reading.

Have you any underlying issues ? Covid can exacerbate existing ones.

Thank you all for your tips, advice and kindness. I've managed to get some salted fries down me today and I feel a bit better. I live to eat and I'm finding a lot of the joy of Christmas has been sucked out, having to force bland beige food down me. I know many people have it a lot worse though.

I'm going to find an open chemist tomorrow and get some anti-sickness medication to try. I wasn't sure if I could take the migraine relief ones as I don't suffer from migraines but I'll see what the pharmacist says.

It does seem that an unfortunate few of us do have this lingering nausea with Covid. I have found something online that suggests it can be a symptom of long Covid if it's going on for more than four weeks.

Thank you again. I don't know anyone in RL who's had this so it's reassuring to know I'm not alone.

Sorry to resurrect this.

@Piggyinblankets how did you know you were dehydrated enough to need treatment.

Currently suffering with awful nausea and vomiting day 9 of covid. Can't keep much down at all. And feeling very shaky/dizzy.

Dr has given me stemitil but I'm still being sick

I had terrible nausea. It went on for about 3 weeks so not as long as your symptoms. I never threw up though - I just spent a lot of time thinking I was about to.

Have you had any problems with your ears? I got a secondary ear infection (Covid really is the virus that likes to keep on giving). I ended up on antibiotics for my ears.

I don't know if the sickness was caused by the Covid or the ear infection but the antibiotics sorted out my ears and the nausea also got much better.

I had nausea continuously for about three weeks and some vomiting.
It reminded me of being pregnant Hmm

I honestly doubt that stemetil will help unless you have vertigo / ear pain as well.
Mine just slowly eased off.

No no vertigo.

And yes it's just like being pregnant. I'm hungry but can't fancy much as feel so sick and then invariably once I've eaten a tiny amount it all come back anyway.

Just a bit concerned about dehydration. Couldn't even keep fluid down this morning

Had long version and nausea lasted 4 months. It was very much like pregnancy sickness though and eating made it feel better after the initial week and ice in drinks helped. Also lucozade (even though they've ruined it since the sugar tax) helped.
