NHs Text message confirming positive

Vanillacronut · 21/12/2021 06:48

I have tested positive for covid. The message I have received from the NHS says that everyone I live with must self isolate for 10 days. It doesn’t say anything about exemption for those that have been double vaccinated and show no symptoms if they lateral flow for the set days. Does everyone really need to isolate? Does that mean that I have omicron as opposed to the Delta variant? I’m confused. My friends who are positive haven’t got that message about the whole household isolating. 😤

I think it may be omicron then.

legalseagull · 21/12/2021 06:49

How strange. Our text message didn't say this. Call 119 and ask Track and Trace?

Mybalconyiscracking · 21/12/2021 06:52

Are you in England? there are different rules in different countries.

Scottishskifun · 21/12/2021 06:52

Do you live in Scotland?
These are the rules here!
Would give them a call though as in England there is daily testing once household members get a negative pcr if they are double vax and there are exemptions

CeeceeBloomingdale · 21/12/2021 06:53

Where are you? Contacts no longer need to isolate in Enhland as it changed a week ago but it can be different in other areas.

Vanillacronut · 21/12/2021 06:53

I got my pcr results on Friday and that was just the normal one says that if people had symptoms and lived with me to get a pcr but then I got the attached one as a follow up this morning. It’s a bit late as our children have been negative on lateral flows so have been collected for walks outside (we are lucky to live right by woodlands) so have been going out and about to save their sanity!

That’s strange as the rules have changed: www.gov.uk/government/news/daily-rapid-testing-for-covid-19-contacts-launches-this-week

Vanillacronut · 21/12/2021 06:53

Sorry, live in England.

This was DDs text in the 16th (England)

When dd1 had a positive in November (before omicron) we had a follow up text worded the same. I would ring T&T to be sure the whole household does have to isolate.

I'd ignore if it's the follow up text then. We did as we were all exempt from isolation, double/triple vaxxed and dd2 under 16.

MattHancocksSexTape · 21/12/2021 06:58

I had the same follow up text.

The current rules are that household need to LFT daily so that’s what they are doing.

Flippydip · 21/12/2021 07:10

I got the same text this morning. I've assumed it refers to the rules in general unless your household is exempt (vaccinated).

LivinLaFeeder · 21/12/2021 07:13

I had the same text. My family are daily LFTing. I agree, there are confusing and mixed messages in the various follow-up texts and emails. I don’t think everyone involved in the process has caught up with the latest guidance.
Incidentally, I am fully vaccinated- double plus booster, and I have managed to catch it.

BlueyandBingo · 21/12/2021 07:14

I would follow up as I wasn’t even told to get a PCR last week when my DH tested positive, just to do daily LFTs… we have actually already booked PCRs as we knew it was going to be positive

Dimondsareforever · 21/12/2021 07:19

Looks like a follow up message confirming you and those who are SI need to continue to do so. I assume the first one you had stated who was exempt …

Hesma · 21/12/2021 07:20

Read it again… it says if the people you live with get symptoms they have to isolate.

MrsWombat · 21/12/2021 07:22

I'm sure I got the same follow up text a few weeks ago pre-omicron when I was positive and was confused as well. I remember thinking at the time that it was an automatic message that hadn't been changed when the guidelines changed. Or worded badly, i.e. the message was for all positive people in your household. Maybe call to clarify with them?

VerbenaGirl · 21/12/2021 07:23

Sure I read on another thread that they see markers indicating it’s Omicron but have a further test to confirm, which takes a couple of days more. Maybe they have seen the marker, so this is a holding message while they confirm the variant - due to Omicron being so transmissible?

SeasonFinale · 21/12/2021 07:25

If you read your whole text OP it goes on to say that people you live with only self isolate if they have symptoms.

Flyingbymypants · 21/12/2021 07:26

I think it is automated because they don't know the vaccination status of your household. I was pinged after a flight and as soon as I entered on the Web Page that I was double vaccinated, the guidance changed. They need to PCR and lateral.flow (assuming vaccinated)

lebkuchenforxmas · 21/12/2021 07:30

I've just gone back and looked at the follow up message I received back in November and it says exactly the same thing, not that I noticed at the time.
Not only does the second paragraph of that contradict what the first message told me, what T&T told me and guidance at the time, but the fourth paragraph of that message seems to contradict the second paragraph.

CheshireKitten123 · 21/12/2021 07:37

If you are not sure ring 111 and check...

Wrinklyeyes · 21/12/2021 07:38

I think the second part of the text means that if a member of the household starts to develop symptoms then the 10-day isolation period for them restarts from their symptoms/test day not the original Covid-positive household member.

But regardless, the whole text is not consistent with the change of guidelines even if it is Omicron. It’s as though they haven’t updated the content of the text message system.

Laufeythejust · 21/12/2021 07:47

DP got that text too. I hope I’m not meant to be isolating because I haven’t been! I’ve had a negative PCR and done 2 lateral flows a day since and all negative.
