Heart palpitations after booster jab

crapatthis1 · 18/12/2021 21:08

Hi guys

Has anyone else had this? I've experienced this every night without fail since my booster on Tuesday. (Had AstraZeneca the other times)

I do have a recent history with heart palpitations a year ago after a traumatic experience but what I've felt the last few days feels different. Like my heart is stopping or swelling , then feels really hot and only when I'm literally about to fall asleep. Before it was just mild heart fluttering here and there (scary in itself).
I went to A&E last night after calling 111 as it was really quite scary, like my heart was stopping and I couldn't sleep. They did an ECG which seemed normal. I do have a 24 hour ECG booked in January.

Just wondered if anyone has had this?

OP posts:

My friends husband died of a sudden heart attack after having the vaccine this year. And she also now has developed a heart condition. They both had the vaccine at the same appointment. She's early 50s and he was 60. I've had my vaccines and will be having the booster but surely there has to be something in this?

LifesABotch · 19/12/2021 08:29

@Sarahschild

Pericarditis and myocarditis are so common in Australia now after the vaccines that they have now created an item number on Medicare. Easier to be claimed on. To the poster who said its anxiety from coffee and stress, you're an idiot. The OP could be unwell and you say that?! You sound like an Australian doctor. Hope you get the treatment you deserve OP and not get fobbed off like they to us all here.

OP yes I had Pfizer about 10 days ago and yesterday was my first day of heart feeling pretty much normal. Mine wasn’t bad but fluttery feeling especially after doing any exertion (eg going upstairs).

Myocarditis and pericarditis are known side effects of Pfizer so any doubts go back to A&E - or at very least call GP on Monday and specifically mentioned vaccine side effects. Any decent doctor will know this is a possibility.

RunningInTheWind · 19/12/2021 08:33

I’m almost reluctant to say it - because writing it makes it real iyswim. But my heart hasn’t felt “quite right” for a few months. Granted I’m probably slap bang in the middle of peri and I’m quite an anxious person… but I’ve passed on the booster and bought a shit load of vitamins instead. Taking a wait and see approach.

I had an ECG in may for an unrelated matter and that was fine… but something feels off.

MiniMaxi · 19/12/2021 08:37

@howley1 off topic a little but can I ask why you mentioned falling asleep on your left hand side? When I do that I without fail suddenly feel panicky like I’m about to pass out.

eightmaidsamilking · 19/12/2021 08:38

I couldn’t be bothered to type this earlier but I spoke to a friend who had a suspected heart attack after a vaccination. She had had a really bad cold, felt better and got a jab shortly afterwards.

It wasn’t a heart attack it was myocardial inflammation. Coronaviruses can cause heart inflammation and the consultant she saw said she had just had more coronavirus than her body could take with a nasty cold and then a vaccination.

Apparently some people get it once and never again in their life, he expects her to fall in that category.

I feel rough Explorer, just about to cancel my lunch out today.

RedToothBrush · 19/12/2021 08:42

Would be interested to see what ecg returns

howley1 · 19/12/2021 09:03

@MiniMaxi when you lay on your left hand side you're more likely to feel the beating against the chest wall, and so any irregular beats are more likely to be felt. which feels odd an then makes u more aware of it. if u sleep on your right the heart "falls" more into the centre of the chest so not as easy to feel the beats.

i was also told (by my cardiologist) left hand sleeping can stimulate your vagus nerve, which can send electrical signals and cause an increase in fluttering an generally feeling odd. he said it was harmless just obviously wasn't very pleasant to feel.
ive made a conscious effort to sleep on my right more and don't notice palpitations at all in bed now.

Beachcomber · 19/12/2021 09:15

Please everyone who experiences this sort of thing report it. And insist that you are properly examined with a 24 hour ECG.

We keep hearing about how we have a responsibility to get vaccinated and we also have the responsibility of reporting side effects.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. 💐

CalmDownBoris72 · 19/12/2021 09:48

I was palmed off with anxiety also which I found really annoying. We have private healthcare so decided to push the GP for a cardiologist referral so I’ve had an Echo, scan and 14 day ECG.

My 14 day ECG was normal and only showed ectopic beats. The consultant, while brilliant, wasn’t willing to engage with any suggestion that it might be linked to Pfizer so I think they’re following a hard line there.

My symptoms have improved since July but are still there sporadically. I’m worried my booster will cause the same issue again.

I take high dose magnesium, have cut caffeine, drink maybe once a month, reduced sugar intake, stopped high intensity exercise and I’m still now 100% symptom free.

I’m 34, have always been healthy and very active. This is shit and I hope it isn’t this way forever.

MiniMaxi · 19/12/2021 09:50

Thanks @howley1! Yes def try to fall asleep on my right otherwise I freak out!

bozzabollix · 19/12/2021 10:01

I think I had Covid before testing was available, I had palpitations for months after. I think the booster replicates ruddy Covid a bit.

Beachcomber · 19/12/2021 10:14

It's really important to report. Even if you feel you are being fobbed off the reports filed count in the safety data being reviewed by the medecines agencies in charge of approval.
All this information is vital. The real life data is where any adverse events missed in the clinical trials can be picked up.

And it is very important for the agencies to know if there is a culmative effect (more or worse incidents as the number of doses increases).

💐 To everyone experiencing this

Lndnmummy · 19/12/2021 10:25

I got a condition called Pericarditis after my booster jab. Completely out of the blue. I had wonderful care and it was dealt with quickly. The cardiologist said it is not uncommon at all. Please get seen OP.

And no. Its very very different from anxietyHmm. Stop spreading misinformation that might prevent people from seeking the help they need.

Lndnmummy · 19/12/2021 10:26

@Beachcomber yes exactly!

ButtonSister · 19/12/2021 10:27

@blablablack

Don't mean to scare you but my friends husband had a heart attack and the doctors said it was caused by the vaccine. I was so shocked.

It has not put me off though I've just had my booster. My friend only had her first vaccine and didn't go bk for the second as she's too scared now.

What an irresponsible doctor to say this, unless there has been a PM and inquest into cause of death.
Lndnmummy · 19/12/2021 10:30

There are several cases of both
Myocarditis and Pericarditis following jabs. When I was seen no one was trying to suggest it wasnt related to the jab. In fact they were really on it and said it was vital that they followed up and reported it. As I said upthread I was diagnosed with pericarditis (had the pfeizer jab).

IroningBoardz · 19/12/2021 10:59

I also developed an arrhythmia after my vaccines and had a cardiology referral etc, I am now on medication for it.

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 19/12/2021 11:17

@SeaToSki

One thing you can do that helps with any arrthymia is take a magnesium supplement
Thanks, I do take supplements and make sure my diet is varied.
TSJ19 · 19/12/2021 11:35

Hi i had this after both my Pfizer jabs. Its very scary. I am also permanently exhausted. I have a telephone appointment with a cardiologist next week. I had an ecg and a heart monitor for a day after my first jab and that showed nothing. I feel worse after my second one which i had in October. I delayed having it for ages as the first one made me feel so ill. I am very reluctant to have my booster.

TheFormidableMrsC · 19/12/2021 11:38

This has really put me off having my booster today which will be Pfizer. I already suffer with heart palpitations as a result of immunotherapy I had this year. I'm not sure I want to risk it. It's also impossible to speak to anybody who says another other than "you must have it". I feel very off about it. Also a single parent to a primary aged autistic child.

hamstersarse · 19/12/2021 11:40

There is no doubt in my mind this is happening regularly.

Don’t do hardcore exercise which raises your heart rate.

LifesABotch · 19/12/2021 11:44

Hope you're feeling much better! How long after your booster did it start? Completely agree with you that it is irresponsible to suggest it's anxiety! It feels very different to being anxious, or even panicky. It feels like something is wrong with your heart Xmas Confused
howley1 · 19/12/2021 11:47

please don't be put off unless you are having serious issues and are advised to avoid it by your gp.
palpitations are entirely normal in everyone to an extent and happen for so many reasons. your body is having an immune response to the vaccine as it would ANY virus which also causes them. plus one of a hundred other reasons,from having a cup of tea to lying in a funny position, to having eaten veggies!

Beachcomber · 19/12/2021 12:03

@howley1

I think it is really irresponsible to encourage people who suspect that they have experienced an adverse event to keep on vaccinating.

These vaccines are new and use novel techniques. They are in use on exceptional emergency status authorisation. The safety data is continuing to be collected in real time. These are not 20 year old flu vaccines using traditional methods and which we have long term safety data on.

Pericarditis and myocarditis were not detected during the 2 dose clinical trials but they have now been added to the adverse events list thanks to the public. Which would indicate that the manufacturers do not have comprehensive data on the incidence of these events with boosters added into the mix.

I have NEVER heard of people being encouraged in official medical advice to get a booster of a vaccine that they have had a cardiac event with.

Surely we should hope to see updated advice soon on what the way forward is for people who have vaccine induced cardiac events. If that advice is to give them boosters anyway then the world will have gone completely mad IMO.
