AIBU to think teachers shouldn't advertise anti vax messages at school?

I will preface this by saying I haven't seen the offending message in person and will hopefully see it tomorrow.

Had a call from DC2's friends mum in the course of which she mentioned that DC1's TA isn't vaccinated. When I queried how she knew, she said the TA has an anti-vax sticker on the back of her car. I find this a bit off, she parks the car on the school parking spaces and all the children walk past the row of parked cars on the way into school.

Am I totally unreasonable to think she shouldn't be allowed to promote anti-vax sentiment on school grounds? The children are old enough to be vaccinated.

YABU she should be allowed to promote anti-vax.
YANBU a school is not the place to promote anti-vax, even on a teacher's car.

Oh - you’ve already said. Hmmm. It’s not actually misinformation, it’s more a choice. Maybe mention to the head, but I’m not sure there is much you can do! I’d be tempted to sign the reading record with a smiley face and thumbs up syringe pic, but of course I’d want to keep my child out of it - and wouldn’t.

It could quite easily be explained to any child who asked as an anti drugs sticker. As far as stickers go it's not the worst it could have been.

But honestly, this absolute obsession amd panic over someone else's medical choices is disturbing. People need to realise the same laws that allow you to not be intubated against your will, give birth when you don't want to or ask fir a new antibiotics if the one you are given makes u sick, also mean your much hated TA gets to not have the vaccine of she doesn't want to.

Those choices apply to people you don't like making decisions you disagree with.

Its that simple.

Force one and u give up the other. Be careful what u wish for

Beadebaser I did debate getting this, but they were already out of stock...

I am curious as to how you would know what car belongs to this TA.
There are 22 members of staff. 6 live local, and come by foot/bike, 5 use the bus (see them when we're on the bus) I would recognise the 6 of the cars (head has two different ones) that are regularly parked outside of school.

The sticker is a pictogram, it doesn't "say" anything.

Perhaps I’m playing devil’s advocate here, but is there a chance she doesn’t know it’s there?
The chances are high she does. When she first started as TA she suggested we take DS for therapy at her (since folded) private aura soma practice to help deal with his LD's.

It's a small sticker of a red circle with a red line through a vaccination/syringe.

Does it actually say it's a vaccination syringe or is it just a generic syringe?

slashlover · 18/12/2021 08:55

If it's this then that's an anti narcotics sticker.

OK, so she's into stuff like aura soma and holistic therapy. So that makes it likely its what pp have said its a generic syringe. But as you say (happily?) this practice has 'folded'.
Do you just really not like her and are looking for anything to get her into trouble?
