Are people going back to wfh?

Wfhquery · 09/12/2021 07:16

We all wfh in first lockdown.
2nd lockdown most wfh but employer said anyone that wanted to could go in if wfh difficult.
We’ve all been back since isolation rules changed in aug.
Although we can work from home our employer prefers us to office work as it does make certain aspects slightly easier.
Expect we’ll have an announcement about what they are doing next couple of days but just wondering what are most employers doing? Are they going back to full wfh where employees can or carrying on requiring people to attend.
Personally I like wfh as I get more done as we are really busy but I like the cut off of a start and finish when in office

Employers in general won’t ignore it. The potential for claims etc will be too high

screwcovid · 09/12/2021 07:34

Yep got told last night

Baker90 · 09/12/2021 07:36

Ours were saying wfh as much as we wanted in run up to Christmas break anyway. Just finishing up last couple of bits we have to physically be in for then all wfh anyway so no big changes for us.

AnnaSW1 · 09/12/2021 07:36

I haven't stopped wfh since we were first told to in March 2020.

BlowDryRat · 09/12/2021 07:37

No. We had an email last night telling everyone we needed to be in.

whiteroseredrose · 09/12/2021 07:38

We were given the option to WFH if we wanted to until Christmas. Quite a lot of staff choose to come in anyway.

overthethamesfromyou · 09/12/2021 07:38

I'm about to log on and expecting a company wide announcement. I expect it will be wfh but come in if you need to. I expect we will go back on a rota system so we have distance between those who are in.

BurntO · 09/12/2021 07:38

My employer always is on the side of caution so will likely have all to WFH unless not possible

ChikiTIKI · 09/12/2021 07:39

Been wfh since March 2020 full time. Nhs.

SickAndTiredAgain · 09/12/2021 07:39

We will be I’m sure. We’d switched to hybrid working since summer anyway, plus it’s a well known company whose covid policy/back to work policy has been reported in the business news and they’ll want to be seen as following government guidelines.
They keep the offices open for people to use if they struggle at home either due to bad WiFi, no space, or poor mental health from the isolation.

GiltEdges · 09/12/2021 07:39

@AnnaSW1

Same.Technically I'd just started going in one day a week of my own choice, but only managed it twice and now employer has gone back to saying come in only if your role can't be done from home.
bumblingbovine49 · 09/12/2021 07:44

I have been working from home since 16 March 2020

Was due back 2 days a week on 17 January ( our office is being redesigned to cater to more people who are in less often permanently) but I suppose that may change now or maybe not . Who knows ?

Hollyhead · 09/12/2021 07:45

Nope, I despise wfh. I anticipate allowing my Team to do more wfh again if they wish, although some are customer facing so will have to be in this time.

SunshineThelma · 09/12/2021 07:47

We've not stopped WFH since March 2020 so no change here.

GnomeDePlume · 09/12/2021 07:47

I'm another who hasn't stopped working from home. In fact I am about to start a new job which will also be mainly wfh before the new guidance came in.

Some types of work are changing or have been changed. My work can be done from home. It always could but old school managers didn't like not being able to see the work being done.

hanahsaunt · 09/12/2021 07:49

We had moved to a hybrid model with a handful working in the office FT. Reverting to WFH from Monday per the guidelines.

MatildaIThink · 09/12/2021 07:51

I cannot work from home when I am working but I am off until January due to a project switchover, my husband can work from home but is staying hybrid. My brother can work from home but is staying hybrid and one of my sister in laws cannot and the other can but is staying hybrid. We all do a lateral flow every day, my husband, brother and sisters in law are all PCR tested at least once a week, often more due to work and when I am in work I am PCR tested three times a week so it is highly doubtful any of us is a risk of spreading it either.

ListenLinda · 09/12/2021 07:52

My work will but my manager and one or two others don’t want to wfh, so despite me wanting to, I will be in the office full time.

LefttoherownDevizes · 09/12/2021 07:52

Whilst we still wfh we could go in if preferred and just been told we can't, unless essential business reason to be in.

Work for a uni and interestingly they're asking all teaching that can go online to do so for last week and a bit, that surprises me.

usernotfound0000 · 09/12/2021 07:56

Never went back to the office! There was a plan a few months back to return in January 1/2 days a week but that was pushed back to April when cases started to rise.

Kshhuxnxk · 09/12/2021 07:57

We have a rotating so that we're all 2 meters apart. We have some wfh but to be honest no one really remembers who they are. Shame as one of them is quite young so really missing out on progressive g her career. I think that's the wfh home worry I would have if I was career minded.

milly74 · 09/12/2021 07:59

we can 100 per cent wfh or still go in, were hybrid working anyway i will go in 3 days a week

Darkpheonix · 09/12/2021 07:59

We only had people in, who really needed to be in.

Wfh, didn't work for some teams. Mainly, because the teams and their managers were really poor communicators. Their performance went down and they had to return.

So we are sticking as is. Those teams can't do their jobs from home. Everyone else can, so we are staying at home.

JaceLancs · 09/12/2021 08:03

As an employer I found WFH negatively impacted on our work - also many of my staff prefer to be in the office together for the sake of their mental health
From Monday I will offer everyone the choice (yet again) I will also have to adapt the work and swap things around for those who choose to WFH as not everything is possible to be done at home
I’m fed up with it - most of my day today will be now taken up with this and reviewing our Covid risk assessment and policies when I’ve got other things that need doing - so will probably have to work extra hours next week to compensate

My eldest dd who is studying at college had been told that they are likely moving online next week and staying that way after Xmas for a time.
