So husbands PCR has come back as inconclusive. He was in close contact with people in his office who are positive . Has anyone else had inconclusive and what was the outcome with further tests? Have got a lot going on this weekend !

From the FAQs online....

What does an “inconclusive” result mean?
The UW SARS-CoV-2 Real-time RT-PCR assay targets two distinct gene regions (see SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Qualitative PCR [NCVQLT] for details). When one of the two targets, but not both, is present above the threshold for positivity, the test is reported as “inconclusive”. This is usually seen with low amounts of viral DNA. In practice, “inconclusive” results should be treated as presumptive positive COVID cases with a low viral load present.

Onceuponatimethen · 03/12/2021 20:39

The only person I know who had inclusive then tested positive

Nootkah · 03/12/2021 20:40

@amsadandconfused So basically, according to the above, it is highly likely to be positive, but might not be. Needs to test again ASAP.

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/12/2021 20:42

He needs to take another test. You can’t go to events with one of you “inconclusive”.

cloudcett · 03/12/2021 20:43

I know two people who had inconclusive pcr results. Both then tested positive the next day. Sorry op. Hope your DH isn't suffering too badly

Tootiredforallthis · 03/12/2021 20:46

My dd had an inconclusive result and tested positive two days later.

Kipperlipper · 03/12/2021 20:49

Daughter tested positive after inconclusive

Fallagain · 03/12/2021 20:55

DH had this on his very first test because he hadn’t realised your not supposed to drink before hand. Retest came back negative.

DigitalGhost · 03/12/2021 20:56

My 18 month old had inconclusive then tested negative 24 hours later.

Skyechasemarshalontheway · 03/12/2021 20:57

My son tested inconclusive twice then negative on the 3rd all a day apart as we had to keep doing it until we got a result.

TheCanyon · 03/12/2021 21:01

My db is in a family of 8, 1 tested positive the rest inconclusive, 5 others tested positive a couple days later. Luckily didn't get the cystic fibrosis kids.

A busy weekends lovely, but it doesn't come above others, he isolates and retests.

Whyislifesohardsometimes · 03/12/2021 21:05

My partner had an inconclusive test, retested and then received a negative result.

Yuppie20 · 03/12/2021 21:06

I had inconclusive and was negative on 2nd go.
I had 6 negative LFT and had a positive PCR 🤦‍♀️

Ormally · 03/12/2021 21:09

Family sequence: DC first (on busy weekend - lots of T. & T. follow up), DH 5 days later, myself inconclusive (but with all their symptoms) then positive. All of us except DC still ill. Don't take the risk with people at the weekend.

Nootkah · 03/12/2021 21:11

Inconclusive is different to unreadable or void. Some of the descriptions above seem morenlike unreadable (e.g. Contaminated with food, or blood, or mucus)

You seriously tested your 17 month old daughter? Poor baby
Tinkywinkydinkydoo · 03/12/2021 21:30

I know two people who had a positive test after an inconclusive

MangoM · 03/12/2021 21:34

@KalvinPhillipsManBun
If your baby develops a fever or cough while at nursery, most nurseries won't accept them back without a pcr test. I'm sure @DigitalGhost isn't just testing their 18 month old for fun Hmm

jumpbounce · 03/12/2021 21:39

@KalvinPhillipsManBun

17 month old's can get covid as well. People are so dramatic. You do realise they sometimes test sick babies, especially if they are admitted to hospital for strains of flu and RSV etc? Long before covid ever existed and not too many people were jumping up and down over that! My own DC has been having swab tests from only a couple of months old and it was years before covid existed.

ShortDaze · 03/12/2021 21:40

My teen dd tested inconclusive twice, the third time I took her and did the swab myself rather than letting her do it. She gagged and wasn’t very happy about me doing it, but it came back negative.

Iggly · 03/12/2021 21:43

It could mean a number of things. Priority is to retest. I had an inconclusive, did it again. Negative.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 03/12/2021 21:44

I had inconclusive. Tested again the same day and came back positive.
