So husbands PCR has come back as inconclusive. He was in close contact with people in his office who are positive . Has anyone else had inconclusive and what was the outcome with further tests? Have got a lot going on this weekend !

You seriously tested your 17 month old daughter? Poor baby

It's a swab not a lumber puncture Hmm

santasmuma · 03/12/2021 21:48

LumbAr

MindyStClaire · 03/12/2021 21:48

My first test way back when was inconclusive, negative the next day. Think I just hadn't swabbed enough.

And my 16 month old has had three or four tests because of random coughs and temps she's had with doses from nursery. Not a big deal at all, she slept through two of them.

underneaththeash · 03/12/2021 21:49

DS2 had an inconclusive after a high temp on Sunday, followed by a positive PCR on Tuesday and then positive lateral flow. DS1’s PCR was inconclusive on Tuesday, he’s had a few positive lateral flows and is symptomatic, do I imagine his PCR will be positive.
DD had a positive pcr, lateral flow negative and slight stomach ache.

EekThreek · 03/12/2021 21:56

DD1 had an inconclusive result so got her retested again that day, the results came back negative. Because DS had tested positive, we all did PCRs 4 days later and she was negative again, but then had a positive LFT 4 days after that and finally had positive PCR the next day.

So 8 days, and 3 tests, before testing positive after inconclusive result.

@Learntoloveyourself You really didn’t have to read my post if you are so sensitive!!
Thank you for all the replies that answered my question. Yes husband having repeat PCR tomorrow and yes have cancelled plans for weekend until we get his result on hopefully Sunday . The replies have helped me with other decisions I need to make because he probably is positive.

It was either test her or be banned from nursery for 2 weeks. Pretty sure she found the MMR more upsetting tbh.

Hi, OP. We're moving your thread to the Coronavirus topic now.

GlomOfNit · 04/12/2021 16:52

I tested after DS was named as a very close contact at school (we thought it was best to get tested ourselves, and he has SEN so there was no guarantee we'd manage to stick something up his most anyway). He tested positive, I tested inconclusive. I got another PCR the next day which was positive. I had a very mild go of the illness (though have had a few weeks of rapid heartbeat since) and assume this is all down to a very low viral load. Some recent research from the Zoe team suggests that 1 in 5 people didn't go on to develop antibodies after testing positive, and that this correlates with those who had very mild illness. Which, personally speaking, is a bit of a PITA.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/12/2021 17:01

It means you have to test again, and isolate til you do. Because it’s inconclusive- they can’t say for sure either way, so it’s like not having had it yet.

I’m not sure what’s wrong with testing a 17 mo? Otherwise they’d have had to isolate anyway.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/12/2021 17:32

Does blood on the swab make a difference? When DH had a test last week they couldn't get a throat swab so they did both nostrils instead and I noticed blood on the swab.

dollywoodlooksgood · 04/12/2021 17:45

You need to retest unfortunately. I’m currently really pissed off as I know of someone in my DD’s class who sits next to a confirmed positive case and has had an inconclusive PCR. The mum sent him to school on Friday because she had something on (a leisure activity that she didn’t want to cancel). I don’t expect she will retest - she’s quite selfish like that. So if he’s positive, which I suspect he is, they may well end up ruining someone’s Christmas.

To update on my earlier post in this thread - the kid who had the inconclusive PCR result and the mum sent him in because she had a leisure activity she wanted to do? Well, he was positive. And probably infected plenty at school. Selfish.

cheninblanc · 06/12/2021 17:33

Mine was inconclusive after a close contact in the house, repeat test I'm still waiting on results of. 9 days later....
