So masks back in shops and on public transport, where most people are double jabbed and can distance, yet not in secondary schools where majority unvaccinated and unable to distance at all. But don’t fear we can open a window.

I fully appreciate that masks aren't great to teach in.

It's just that, as a vulnerable primary school teacher, being told to 'get on with it' because I should just 'wear a proper mask' and 'have rules about the way my pupils move around' is mildly irritating when neither of these things is possible!

I don't think secondary aged children will follow rules anymore.

Children and young people tend to follow rules, even when they don’t agree with them. That’s why there aren’t riots in schools every day.
The majority of the young people I’ve worked with are realistic about the rules and recognise that they’re designed to keep them and their families safe, even if somewhat imperfect. They put up with the inconveniences with humour and good grace.

I was talking about secondary school pupils. You should get a PP3 mask if you're vulnerable.

My teenagers wear masks in the corridors, they don't at lunch, in class, at home or when socialising. We can all go to the cinema, pub etc. I'm not stopping/ restricting their lives anymore. It's not just about the vulnerable, it's about everyone.

cantkeepawayforever · 29/11/2021 19:47

I am not allowed, in my workplace, to wear any mask at all except for the very short periods (perhaps 45 mins in a 10.5 hour day in the building) when I am in the corridor or mingling with adults outside my class.

What type of mask I am not allowed to wear is irrelevant. I am not allowed to wear one. Obviously outside 8.30 - 3.30, my contacts are more minimal, but between those hours, they are intense and continuous and with a wholly unvaccinated group - without face covering or social distancing.

My own children - now young adults - wear masks willingly to protect me, in the same way as I willingly isolate in school holidays before visiting my elderly parents. Why would I not?

Looks like she will sit her first public exams which will determine whether she gets in a RG University with no mitigation and harsher grade boundaries than the previous two years.
I think universities will be well aware that there is a difference and we'll see an increase in entry tests for oversubscribwd universities.

No. Their peers are mainly sheep, who have gone along with the false government rhetoric that everything is 'over'. My children are the very reverse of sheep - they wear masks when and where nobody else does (but where the research says they should) with pride, and will explain in detail why to anyone who challenges them. They also open windows and keep appropriate distance.

@MyBeautifulFlower she has had offers but they require certain grades which are no fifteenth to other years. Yet the Govt have said that it willl be harder to get these grades than it was in 2019 and 2020.
She now needs her Teachers and all Teachers at her school well which us more likely if mitigation is in place.
