Are you getting the booster if you’re not vulnerable?

Just curious. Are you?

I am able to receive a booster. I am early 30’s with no health conditions that I am aware of.

I feel like the push for the boosters for healthy folk isn’t really there; in fact I am seeing more and more professionals say it’s unnecessary at this stage. Of course, safety is my main concern and much like before the first two, I am feeling somewhat anxious about it.

Yes, I've booked mine for a couple of week's time. I'm a carer for a family member and I'm pregnant now, so a bit more vulnerable, and early 40s so I feel that's not young enough to be complacent. I wasn't unwell after previous vaccinations so for me it's no big deal to get it. Planning lots of days out and events over the Christmas period so it will be nice to feel relaxed about socialising and mixing in crowded environments.

Not sure what planet some posters are on
No one knew one way or the other about waning so no promises were made about waning or boosters either way
There are flu jabs every year
Evidence is being seen in Israel etc about boosters etc, it’s a no brainer
My only hesitancy is that we are on boosters with other countries barely starting vaccination
We are incredibly fortunate
Same moaners will complain if restrictions come in

Yes, I will indeed complain if I'm given a choice between incapacitating myself every six months or never leaving the house. I'm glad these vaccines exist for those for whom the benefits outweigh the harms. That may be most people, but it isn't everyone.

If the flu shot reliably made me sicker than the flu ever did, I'd never get that one, either. Nor would anyone with half a brain ever suggest that I should.

Sadiequeenofscots · 09/11/2021 01:35

Yes - 39, work in health/social care and had my booster last week, along with my flu jag

Wellbythebloodyhell · 09/11/2021 06:44

You should only be offered the booster if you are vulnerable anyway, whether that be by age or underlying health conditions OR you've been selected because you work/live with/care for someone else who is vulnerable so your being offered it to increase their protection as well as reducing the chances of yourself being ill so you are able to care for them . Moral of the story - if you've been offered a booster then there's a medical need for it somewhere in your circumstances

vjg13 · 09/11/2021 06:45

The 3rd jab will be rolled out to all age groups eventually. Possibly a fourth at some stage too.

HelloDulling · 09/11/2021 06:51

I wish! I work in a school, and DH is CEV, but I’m 45 so not eligible.

Chakraleaf · 09/11/2021 06:53

I had 1st dose Jan and 2nd dose in March. I was offered booster but not had it yet. I'm so unsure. I'm 34 with no health conditions

I’m having mine asap.

Shrubbyelk · 09/11/2021 07:16

I’m eligible to book my booster from next week due to my age. I have no known underlying conditions. Work in a school. Currently at home after testing positive on Sunday. Feel dreadful but grateful that I had my vaccines as I could be feeling a lot worse. Managed to avoid covid from the start (still went to work for keyworker provision), but think that my protection has worn off.

Branleuse · 09/11/2021 07:17

Yes I will get the booster as soon as i can and any future boosters offered to me too. Ive also got the flu-jab this year when usually I dont bother and have consented for my children to all get whatever vaccinations offered.
So far weve all managed to avoid both covid and any side effects to any vaccines.
Im amazed how weird people are being about the vaccine tbh. Baffling. Im sure they have their reasons of course, but it reminds me of all the MMR bullshit

MrsMariaReynolds · 09/11/2021 07:26

Would love to be offered the booster as we've had no end to Covid circulating since we returned to school in September. We currently have 5 members of staff (primary school) away with Covid, and goodness knows how many children.

But I'm only 44, not vulnerable and schools are never prioritised.

It’s not all about you though! Covid jabs are to protect more vulnerable members, but obviously you have no sense of societal responsibility.

Whathefisgoingon · 09/11/2021 14:10

Thanks all. Went and had it this morning!

Great news.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 09/11/2021 14:18

Yes because my DS1 is CEV and I'd like him to be able to leave his house.

pommedeterre · 09/11/2021 15:53

Obviously will take it. Cannot fathom why people wouldn't.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 09/11/2021 16:42

Good on you!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 09/11/2021 17:44

Mine is booked for next week
Had my Flu Jab today
56 and CV

You're deluded. Don't blame someone else for that.

When people are made ill by a vaccine whose side effects government and the drug companies accept no liability for, you need to get real.

User135644 · 10/11/2021 09:33

I'm happy to get one every winter - like the flu vaccine - but every 6 months is not sustainable.

Who is saying it’s going to be every six months?
bumbleymummy · 10/11/2021 09:53

Haven’t Israel introduced a 4th dose already?

PurpleDaisies · 10/11/2021 09:59

They’re having the same thoughts we are. There might need to be a longer term programme from Covid vaccination like flu. I can’t see anything about them having decided what time from that will be over.
