Are you getting the booster if you’re not vulnerable?

Just curious. Are you?

I am able to receive a booster. I am early 30’s with no health conditions that I am aware of.

I feel like the push for the boosters for healthy folk isn’t really there; in fact I am seeing more and more professionals say it’s unnecessary at this stage. Of course, safety is my main concern and much like before the first two, I am feeling somewhat anxious about it.

Yes

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/11/2021 12:17

As soon as it is offered and not one second later.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/11/2021 12:19

had mine a few weeks ago.
was pleased I did when one of the kids got COVID and I remained well and tested negative.

Onthegrid · 08/11/2021 12:25

Had mine this weekend right on schedule even though I wfh and don’t socialise much. I will be visiting relatives who live in cities in the weeks up to Christmas and I will take as much protection as available.

If I can avoid Covid that would be great, or just have mild symptoms please

Switch82 · 08/11/2021 12:40

Hi I’m the same as you - mine was gestational diabetes. I’m not diabetic now but I’m predisposed to it and high risk. Therefore it’s recommended even those who had GD to get boosted.

yikesanotherbooboo · 08/11/2021 12:42

I was very grateful to have it as someone in healthcare. DD and DSil have just had covid they are healthy and double jabbed; never felt as Ill before. They were in close contact with my DSes and DDil none of whom caught it. This , to me is a good reason for boosting my immunity and reducing the chance of passing it on.As I have said many times, I would be devastated if I passed Covid onto a vulnerable patient and could potentially have reduced my risk of doing so. Almost everyone at my place of work has now had their booster, the only advice I would give is to time it so that you have days off afterwards in case you feel I'll for 2-3 days.

BunsyGirl · 08/11/2021 12:46

Not at the moment because I’ve just had Covid plus it’s less than six months since I had my second vaccination. If they do become available to my demographic I intend to delay it so it covers travel for next summer - some countries have already stipulated that you must have had a vaccination within six months to be able to enter the country.

EdgeOfTheSky · 08/11/2021 13:04

Absolutely I will, when my turn comes.

Why wouldn’t I?

I’ll do what I can to keep my defences up to avoid catching it, and play as much a part as I can in ending / managing the pandemic.

It is about brainer for me.

Delatron · 08/11/2021 13:08

I will jf advised. 45 no health conditions. Double jabbed in June so I guess December will be when it may start wearing off.

I’ve been in close contact with cases a couple of times recently and stayed well so very pro vaccines at the moment. I’m self employed so weeks off work would be a nightmare for me.

Though if we haven’t been offered by Spring and cases are low I may rethink.

AnnPerkins · 08/11/2021 13:14

Well yes. The immunity wanes after a while so I'm having the booster for the same reason I had the first two jabs.

Mine is booked for this Thursday.

leafygarden42 · 08/11/2021 13:16

I've had the booster - as I'm over 50 and work as a HCP. No problems with either that or flu jab. Seems like a sensible precaution to me.

My DH will be getting his booster soon too.

YellowMonday · 08/11/2021 13:18

Absolutely. I'm 35 with no risk factors and I'll be having my booster in Jan when I qualify.

I'm in AUS, and while our initial roll out was an absolute disaster, we luckily have the stock now to kick off the booster program next week.

Zandathepanda · 08/11/2021 13:24

Dh, Dd and I had it yesterday at 182 days after the 2nd. Slightly sore arm still. Headache came on like the other times but just took paracetamol. Now gone. My armpit on the side of the jab is ever so slightly sore which I am very happy about as I hope my body is reacting and making lots of antibodies. Very happy to have had it. We have done everything we can to protect ourselves.

AvailableNow · 08/11/2021 13:43

Why wouldn't you?
I'm in my 60's and had my booster last Friday. I'm very grateful.

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 08/11/2021 13:53

I was delighted to have my booster last week. I originally had 2 x AZ but the booster was Pfizer.

Brightwell12 · 08/11/2021 14:17

I had it 6 weeks ago, NHS nurse

whatswithtodaytoday · 08/11/2021 15:12

I would definitely have it - it's being offered to everyone who is past 6 months in Europe, and I assume will be here before long. I'll be due it in late December and will gladly take it (I'm 40).

I have seen that Fauci believes these will be three-stage vaccinations in future, so this is actually part of the normal schedule rather than a booster. Either way, Covid is clearly going to be a major problem this winter and we're all best avoiding it if we can.

MintJulia · 08/11/2021 15:14

Yes, mine's booked.

womaninatightspot · 08/11/2021 15:21

Probably not. About a month after my second AZ vaccine I started developing headaches with stroke type affects. It might be coincidental but I've been so ill (hospitalised twice!) that I'd avoid anything that has an inflammatory effect including vaccines at this stage.

Fifthtimelucky · 08/11/2021 15:32

Yes. I booked mine this morning for early December, which will be 6 months after the last one. I also had a flu jab last week.

Until last year I had never had a flu jab as I'm very healthy and not susceptible to colds or flu (I'm 60 and I haven't had flu since I was 13). I am reasonably confident that I would get over Covid or flu without any difficulties, but don't see any need to put that to the test. Better safe than sorry!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/11/2021 15:36

Yep, most of my friends have had Covid even though they've been double jabbed and 3 have long Covid, no one said it was 'just like a cold / flu' in fact they said it was awful . I will definitely be having anything they want to give me and I say that as someone who had a bad reaction the the first AZ jab!

SpeedRunParent · 08/11/2021 16:39

Yes, absolutely.

Maverickess · 08/11/2021 16:48

Well I'm trying to, currently being bounced around from service to service as no one appears to know what's going on or able to facilitate outside of my job (social care, unable to attend at the time given for the booster/flu jab). There's a bus near me at the end of the month though my employer is being awkward about me taking the time off (about half an hour) to go and get it done.
In all honesty I want to keep myself as covered as possible, having caught it twice from outbreaks at work I'd rather know I'm as protected as can be from it because in all honesty I can't afford more sick time.

Superstar22 · 08/11/2021 16:57

I’m 35, full health, had first in Jan, second April, third last week. Work in NHS but currently remotely; no contact with patients. Could be called in to close working any time. I’m so lucky to have been offered it. I’m delighted I’ve had it when close friends/ siblings don’t get the chance. I’m not taking it from vulnerable people so I’m happy to have it. My two primary school kids need me to be well. My husband is in NHS and very much patient facing; so he’s triple jabbed but it’s still a concern. My parents (waiting on their third) need me to be well. I don’t want to chance it.

Totally take it. It helps you, snd others around you, not least the NHS by taking another person who may need a ventilator/ treatment/ hospitalisation and putting them on the “likely be ok” list. We need everyone jabbed. Our health staff are absolutely shattered and distraught. Hundreds a day are still dying.

CrumpleHornedSnowcack · 08/11/2021 17:00

yes, I can't wait to have a little top up but unsure if it will be offered as under 50 with health condition but not cev
