DD had first jab in August at the GP surgery. It was when 16 &17 year olds were called and they were to get one jab only. At the appointment the nurse said she’d have two jabs. Fast forward and DD is now 17 and 9months which is the adult jab cut off. I went online to see if she could book a second jab and the day after her turning 17,9m, it allowed her to. So we went yesterday and queued for 1.5 hrs. She was questioned 3 times and everyone was confused as to whether she could have it but each person checked and then came back and said yes. We got to booth and the vaccinator said no. She was very nice and explained it’s not protocol at the moment and she wasn’t happy to give it. Apart from a wasted couple of hours I’m feeling confused as DD will be 18 in February and don’t want her to be unable to travel, for example , as she won’t have been double jabbed and she will be an adult then.
Can anyone tell me if there are plans to give second jabs once they turn 18? Nobody at the vaccine centre seemed to know.Thanks.
