17 year olds and one jab.

DD had first jab in August at the GP surgery. It was when 16 &17 year olds were called and they were to get one jab only. At the appointment the nurse said she’d have two jabs. Fast forward and DD is now 17 and 9months which is the adult jab cut off. I went online to see if she could book a second jab and the day after her turning 17,9m, it allowed her to. So we went yesterday and queued for 1.5 hrs. She was questioned 3 times and everyone was confused as to whether she could have it but each person checked and then came back and said yes. We got to booth and the vaccinator said no. She was very nice and explained it’s not protocol at the moment and she wasn’t happy to give it. Apart from a wasted couple of hours I’m feeling confused as DD will be 18 in February and don’t want her to be unable to travel, for example , as she won’t have been double jabbed and she will be an adult then.
Can anyone tell me if there are plans to give second jabs once they turn 18? Nobody at the vaccine centre seemed to know.Thanks.

I read the rules and thought that was exactly within the rules…and tbh the uptake of vaccine in London is pretty low so any vaccinator that gets a young person happy to be shot in the arm…should shot the person in the arm ;-)

Yep, that's what we do. We have a pretty low threshold for accepting people! Just glad to jab people as long as it's within the rules (broadly speaking - for example we wouldn't usually ask for proof that someone under 50 is eligible for a booster).
It's very confusing as a vaccinator so I can understand why they said what they did but they should have consulted with someone else. I can't do under 18s because I'm with St John ambulance & we aren't covered to do them, but I would pass them on to someone else.
