For everyone who has had had or has currently got Covid is there anything you are finding useful to have stocked in medicine wise?

Partner positive, I was sent out for lemsip, nurofen, a hot water bottle, a microwave heat bag thing, sudafed nasal spray, lots of aloe tissues.

I have also made two vats of 'ill soup' - onion, red pepper, carrot, fennel, garlic, chilli, celery, can of tomatoes, lots of dried herbs, few handfuls of red lentils. He has no taste or smell, but can eat that with a dollop of yoghurt and some cheese grated on it, and at least know he's eating something healthy.

IncessantNameChanger · 03/11/2021 20:01

Lemsip. I wasnt even that ill but it helped with the aches and pains at the start.

Tidypidy · 03/11/2021 20:02

For us it's milk we ran short of due to all the cups of tea. Also good stock of paracetamol is useful and a decent thermometer.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 03/11/2021 20:04

DH asked me to stock up on pizza bases... Perhaps thats the fever talking

PlugUgly1980 · 03/11/2021 20:21

Paracetamol for the adults and calpol for the kids. Both DH and I tested positive at the same time with two young children later testing positive. I've never been so grateful that I had a good stash of paracetamol when you're both taking them, you soon got through a small box. Same with calpol for the kids, although wasn't too bad as our youngest has remained asymptomatic so didn't use as much. Also tissues, three of us all started with constant streaming noses and sneezing.

Honey and lemon for the cough x

BlackeyedSusan · 03/11/2021 20:26

Oximeter
Thermometer
Paracetamol and ibuprofen
Strepsils etc for throat

Food you just heat up Eg tins of custard/rice pudding/soup

Or just add water to: cous cous sachets or cupshots

Dried/long life milk

Bread in freezer or a substitute for bread such as crackers etc

Night nurse. And squash, lots and lots of squash. Never known a thirst like it.
Good luck, hope it isn’t too bad.

DayKay · 03/11/2021 20:32

Oximeter
Paracetamol. Lots. I took quite a lot as had the worst headache I’ve ever had for 3 days.
I made anti inflammatory drinks with lemon, turmeric and ginger.

iloveredwine · 03/11/2021 20:40

Ice lollys here helped with we had no appetite

Chocs44 · 03/11/2021 20:44

Definitely lots of paracetamol, hot water bottles and tea bags.

TreaslakeandBack · 03/11/2021 20:44

Lemsip

Bread for toast
Night nurse
Benylin

Bookridden · 03/11/2021 20:49

Oximeter
Fruit Pastille ice lollies
Ready meals

WonderfulYou · 03/11/2021 21:08

I didn’t have covid but had the other bug that’s going around that’s similar to the symptoms.

I’d say honey and lemon for the sore throat.
Paracetamol for the headaches and fever.
Cough medicine for the cough.
Tea, hot chocolate, ice lollies etc to drink and eat to soothe your throat.

zeromango · 03/11/2021 21:12

Following as awaiting PCR tests and will book an online shop in preparation incase we test positive

CovidLungsGiveMeHopePlease · 03/11/2021 21:12

That would be VASELINE for sore lips, I wasn't making a sexual reference (ffs, bloody autocorrect Hmm)
Bookaholic73 · 03/11/2021 21:16

Chocolate & Wine are the only medicine I found helpful.

PurpleDaisies · 03/11/2021 21:21

Milk and some for the freezer
Bread and more for the freezer
Paracetamol
Strepsils
Tissues
Lots of easy food. Filled pasta, bag of stir fry veg, jacket potatoes etc
Treats.

I wish I’d had some plain crisps.
Nice things to drink.

My appetite has really taken a hit so I’m having to force myself to eat. That’s never happened.

Spongeboob · 03/11/2021 21:36

Online shop, if you're symptomatic waiting for results

Tigresswoods · 03/11/2021 21:48

As previous posters have said, Calpol & paracetamol because once you're ill it's amazing how quickly you go through them AND how few sainsburys will deliver to you in one go!!!! 😖

murcimari · 03/11/2021 22:40

OMG, these are the items you all stocked up on? No wonder so many people on mumsnet are so bl@@dy ill Shock
Lemsip totally prolongs covid, especially if you start taking it at the first sign of illness.
You should also let fever run its course, it's your body's way of killing the virus. A healthy grown up should be able to bear a temperature of up to 38.8C without any problems.
Consuming dairy is a big NO NO when having cold-like symptoms. Other foods to completely avoid are bananas (also increase mucus) and seafood. Cut out sugar completely for the duration of the illness.
Consuming any of the above does nothing else but prolongs your illness!

Instead of all this modern-day garbage recommended by the others, none of which will serve any purpose in your recovery, stock up on:

vit D+K drops, zinc, liposomal vit C, Allicin Max, Vit B3 (Niacin), Quercetin and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and drink lots of bone broth

  • available from supermarkets and farms selling online.

Good luck to you.

Well known diet of the non 'modern day garbage' consuming cavemen Hmm

murcimari · 03/11/2021 23:03

@ RuleWithAWoodenFoot

Grin Grin you're hilarious ..... although none of us were laughing when my husband ended up in hospital on day 8, after taking two whole boxes of lemsip in the first 4 days followed by even more paracetamol afterwards and drinking nothing else but cups and cups of milky tea.

BlackeyedSusan · 04/11/2021 00:37

correlation does not prove causation.
