Anyone double jabbed and had booster and since tested positive? v

I had the booster 3 weeks ago. My young dc have tested positive and I'm feeling a little achey, been sneezing every 2seconds and runny nose. Had a very sore throat 2 days ago but it's fine today. My pcr (done at same time as dc) came back negative but I'll book another tomorrow.

I just had a good check over of the PGD and a primary dose of Moderna (now known as Spikevax® Grin) is 0.5ml and a booster 0.25ml so a third primary dose is 0.5ml. Pfizer and AZ are the same amount for everything.

Asplenic people have been confusing a lot of us recently!

needtogetfit21 · 29/10/2021 17:47

Thanks for clarifying but why the difference @ImAVaccinator ? It doesn't really make sense? Or am
I missing something?

@ImAVaccinator what I'm trying to ask is, would I have been better getting the Pfizer or Az then?

Well, and this is inferred from reading the PGD and talking to my friends not an official line, it's a compromise between strong side effects and effective coverage. I'll try and find the line in the PGD because it made me chuckle.

Having a third Moderna was a good idea.

needtogetfit21 · 29/10/2021 18:00

Ok thanks. I had AZ for the first two doses.

@ImAVaccinator sorry to butt in- I had AZ for my first 2 doses (given the first dose days before the advice changed to not give to my age group!). Would the booster be AZ or another do you think? I'm due it next week

ImAVaccinator · 29/10/2021 18:08

There is a preference for mRNA vaccines for booster doses so majority are getting Pfizer @rooarsome.

mumwon · 29/10/2021 18:12

@ImAVaccinator what surprised me with our booster (dh & went in together as having vaccine at the same time) dh has multiple medications & amongst his (many) other conditions ITP - so I typed out a sheet which showed all his issues & medications -for his AZ they took careful note & typed it out & mentioned his ITP
This time the vaccinator wasn't the slightest bit interested & didn't even look at it - we had Pfizer for our booster this time
It seemed a bit casual there this time to be honest

mumwon · 29/10/2021 18:16

by the by he sailed through this time as well (cross fingers)so far = I had quite a sore arm & a head ache for a couple of days - nothing to worry about I had worse with the Typhoid vax - now that was singularly unpleasant!

Thank you for that Smile

@mumwon As time has gone by we have a better understanding of what to look out for, at first everything was checked! I still love a typed out list personally, very helpful, also balances out the 'you know the small red pill' comments (although I love those also, the trust that we have encyclopaedic knowledge of pills at that level).

PokemonGoGoGo · 30/10/2021 10:24

This has just happened to me. I had AZ for my first 2 jabs, then a Pfizer as my booster. My son tested positive 13 days after my booster and I developed symptoms a day later (14 days after booster) and had a positive test 2 days later (so 16 days after vaccination). Started with a cough, slight aching (I thought it was because I'd done a workout), runny nose, loss of taste/smell, tired.

needtogetfit21 · 30/10/2021 11:42

So my second pcr has come back negative and I'm feeling better. It feels like it was maybe brewing but perhaps since I've had the booster it has stopped in its tracks.

We are self isolating anyway as my dc are very young. And will keep up the daily LFT's until their isolation ends, unless ofcourse we develop symptoms.

I must say I'm very suprised

@ImAVaccinator Local centres are offering both Pfizer and Moderna- would you recommend one over the other? What about for teenage dcs? Thank you!

ImAVaccinator · 30/10/2021 18:10

Under 18's currently only have Pfizer licensed for them but both vaccines excellent.

ImAVaccinator · 30/10/2021 18:11

Glad you are feeling better needto.

My 17 and 9 months year old had 2 Moderna - not sure she should have really?

I had AZ for first two and Pfizer for my third primary. I believe the guidance is for MRNA for booster or 3rd dose unless there is a medical reason to give AZ.

Surprised that you feel better? You've had several tests and been negative. It wasn't covid.
ImAVaccinator · 31/10/2021 17:46

@CiderWithLizzie 'Spikevax' aka Moderna ok'd for 12-17 year olds too I see now, where I work we are just doing Pfizer for them, up to this week at least (things move fast in the pandemic vaccination world!). We get new Patient Group Directions for each individual vaccine all the time and have to read and sign but this thread is brilliant at making me go back and reread everything.

CiderWithLizzie · 31/10/2021 18:15

That’s good. D’s had her first dose in august but when she went back to have the second the screen flashed up in red to say she shouldn’t have it. Luckily they gave it to anyway!

needtogetfit21 · 31/10/2021 20:06

@Mosky No, I am suprised I haven't caught it from my dc. Both very young and the 2yo has been cuddling into me etc whilst feeling poorly. I thought Covid was very infectious and I'm inmunoconpromosed so I never for a second thought it would be in our household and I would escape it.

Not that I'm complaining and I guess there Is still time (day 6 for dc)
