Passenger Locator Form

I’m on holiday in France and have just realized I need to complete this form and book a test for when I get back home to UK. Does anyone know if I need to do this even with a recent positive COVID test? I have a ‘Recovery Pass’ as my Covid ‘passport’. Isn’t any test likely to show positive in the next 90 days? TIA

Yes you need to do it, and yes there's a risk you'll test positive and need to isolate again. Travel is really tricky right now.

KimKimKim32 · 28/10/2021 21:18

Thank you. So frustrating, I can’t find any mention on gov.uk. How did you know this - have you recently travelled?

At what point does the PLF get checked?

Recently came into the UK with all relevant paperwork and no one looked at it. Airline checked recent PCR but that was a requirement to fly, not a requirement of the British govt.

CliftonGreenYork · 28/10/2021 21:20

Yes you do. I am currently at Caen ferry port waiting to go back to England from France and had covid 2 weeks ago.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/10/2021 21:21

We have just come back from Spain - both COVID vaccination and passenger locator forms were checked in Spain at the check in.

Ours got checked before we boarded the ferry.

The form is linked to your passport, when they scan your passport at border control, they can see your completed form.

It is tied to your passport number. The border control agent accesses it electronically when they check your passport.
Pachonga · 28/10/2021 21:25

Thanks. I went through the unmanned passport control so definitely scanned and I suppose any problem would have been flagged there.

KimKimKim32 · 28/10/2021 21:50

Thanks everyone. I have paid my £25 for a test whose result will be completely meaningless due to my recent Covid. I’m thinking of it as a holiday tax. Looking forward to working my way through the PLF tomorrow, within the 48 hours.

Don't all travellers have to do a day 2 test? Is that what you have booked?

KimKimKim32 · 29/10/2021 18:31

Yes, I’ve booked and paid for the two day test. I had been hoping I wouldn’t have to do it, as I had Covid two weeks ago, and so my test is likely to be positive. This will mean a day (at least) off work whilst I wait for the PCR. Oh well, I know I’ve been lucky to get away for a quick holiday.

Day 2 tests can now be LFT; you don't need a PCR.
CyclesPerfecta · 29/10/2021 19:19

Had Covid 2 weeks ago, PCRs are still showing positive, but LTFs are negative. You should be fine, if you booked the LFT test.

tilligan · 29/10/2021 20:36

So now we can return to work before we even take the day 2 LFT!! Who thinks up these bizarre rules?!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 29/10/2021 21:19

I had all that checked at check in. On the way out I checked in online, so paperwork was checked at the gate before we boarded.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 29/10/2021 21:20

Oh, and i filled in the passenger locator form on the taxi on the way to the airport. I'd bought the tests before we left home.

flipflump · 29/10/2021 23:31

@tilligan the same people who abolished all restrictions in this country. It’s safer to holiday abroad than the U.K. but you don’t need an LFT returning from popular seaside resorts.

borntobequiet · 30/10/2021 09:21

This is the link to the government website

www.gov.uk/find-travel-test-provider

Many of the providers listed have very poor websites. Boots’ website continually froze on me. Eventually I went with Nationwide Pharmacology because their order form actually worked.

EasyJet staff (at Faro) checked that passengers had a copy of the form (which requires a test booking reference) and I’m not sure they’d let people board without one. I felt very sorry for them with the extra work required and had a minor panic myself when I put in the wrong password to access my digital copy of the form.

borntobequiet · 30/10/2021 09:22

And border control didn’t want to see it, presumably because of the EasyJet check.

Mine was checked at check in/ bag drop for my return flight.
MumofSpud · 30/10/2021 10:54

It is a pain - just back from Germany. Everything checked at both ends.
I thought (smugly) as seasoned travellers it would all be sooo easy - it wasn't!

I think it is because you can only spread Covid by Day 2 and not the second you are exposed to it?? Am happy to be proved wrong though!

When you arrive at UK passport control and they scan your passport, you PLF comes up on their computer.
