Curious about what happens re info in school outbreak

Our primary school (so 4 - 13 year olds) has just had its first confirmed Covid case. Got a message Monday evening that there was a case. But no information on what class it was in. It’s a very small school so it wasn’t long until it was known.

Then yesterday evening another message saying there were 2 further cases - again no information on what class and that message said there would be no more messages on cases.

So I’m just curious what other schools so about information.

Primary School used to send a letter by email saying which class had had a case on thedaytheschoolwas informedofa positive result.

Then the letter became more general saying there had been cases in x, y and a classes but no dates or numbers.

Then we just got told of cases in our actual child's class. Now we get nothing.

Secondary School have barely communicated anything at all throughout the whole time. The only recent communication was telling us which year groups were back in bubble but still no actual number of cases.

I would prefer to be kept informed of numbers so that I have an idea of community levels. I'm assuming they're very high unfortunately.

As I understand it Secondary Schools do not have to provide any information unless/until Public Health get involved - presumably by which time there will be a pretty big outbreak and everyone will know about it anyway. Children kept at home because parents believe they have been in close contact with a confirmed case will be deemed unauthorised absence until they show symptoms or test positive.

To add to the fun, my DCs secondary has decided that a 2-hour welcome party for all the Year 7s is a great idea the evening before half term starts.

On the other hand, DC in 1st year of uni have all been moved to remote learning because of one positive case.
