Would you go for a PCR?

I have one booked, but DH is pissed off about it.

I've got an 8 week old DC with bronchillitis and is quite poorly, I also have 2yo DC with a chest infection, equally quite poorly and is on antibiotics

2yo running a temp, lots of snot (sorry!)

I then have developed a raging sore throat, very slight infrequent cough and heavy headaches. DH is coughing his head off.

DH and I did lft's last night and are all negative. However, I wanted to confirm that we are negative with a PCR.

DH has point blank refused, I said I'll go ahead and get one and he says I'm paranoid and reminded me there are other bugs going around this time of year. He's right, I've caught many. I just generally don't suffer with a sore throat and I've heard so many hit and miss stories about the LFT plus they aren't meant to be used with symptoms.

Wwyd in this situation?

I have health anxiety since having DC 8 weeks ago I am a little scared about him being sick, which is now the case. I have anxiety stemming from my eldest being hospitalised when very young so I don't know if I'm being OTT about this

@PurpleDaisies we are anyway as two DC's are sick, he's not working at the moment he is on shared maternity leave so we've not been out of the house since symptoms started thankfully so no one has been at risk

I did in a similar situation. Deep down I was sure my cough was just from my cold but I had to be sure so had a PCR.

Good to know you've been to A&E with your youngest. But don't hesitate to go back if YOU feel you need to. My niece (baby) has just been in with it for a few days, she looked perky enough, but needed the oxygen, then her mum got it. Thankfully both home & doing fine now.

Well done for getting DH to take a PCR.

I hope all of you are feeling well soon! X

I'd rather know, to be honest, and would get a PCR test if it were me, with those symptoms. Your husband must make his own decision, it does rather sound like he's in denial and doesn't want to know if it could possibly be Covid! Let us know how you get on!

Isnt it strange, my DH was "off" with me as i took a test as was coughing. Test came back positive and then he was even more irritated as then he had to take one (no symptoms and was negative). Coudnt work out why. Is it a man ( burying head in the sand) thing?

Karwomannghia · 19/10/2021 10:03

Yes, head in sand moment, can’t cope with potential illness or talking about it!
