Anyone had their 3rd jab?

Has anyone has their 3rd jab yet? I've been invited to mine next week. I had terrible side effects after the 1st but none after the 2nd. I was just wondering if anyone had any side effects after it?

My arm hurt the minute the needle went in. It's still sore 2 days later. Pains in my elbow and wrist. This didn't happen last time. I felt fluey the first night afterwards.

garlictwist · 15/10/2021 05:13

Can anyone get the booster providing it's been six months? Sorry I haven't really been reading up on it. I will be six months in January, can I get one then?

Northernsoullover · 15/10/2021 05:28

I had my booster on Tues. I had a sore arm. That's it.

mmgirish · 15/10/2021 05:50

Yes I have - not in the UK. It was best reaction of the 3. Just a sore arm.

maggienolia · 15/10/2021 08:28

Had 3rd jab on Wednesday morning. Definitely more tired yesterday but this morning...armpit pain and chills, feel like death warmed up.
This has been the worst of the three.
Not much will get done round here today.

Silvercatowner · 15/10/2021 08:48

Yes - full vaccine not booster. Bit of a sore arm but nothing major.

radness75 · 15/10/2021 09:01

I had my 3rd pfizer 3 weeks ago and i just had a sore arm for 24 hours after. With my first 2 pfizers i had a sore arm for about 10 days each so 24 hours was a breeze this time. Incidently i am in a trial meauring my antibiodies every month and i still had lots of wonderful antibiodies 8 months after my 2nd vaccine so not everyone is losing antibiodies after 6 months which is good news. Im hoping i have lots more after my 3rd!

Thirtyrock39 · 15/10/2021 09:02

Yes about three weeks ago and just a sore arm for a couple of days

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/10/2021 09:06

My parents, mid-80s and late 70s, both fine. Husband due in a couple of weeks and me in a month or so.
Feel very lucky.

LittleG69 · 15/10/2021 09:49

There's some people talking about their 3rd jab here and others talking about boosters. They are different things

I had my 3rd jab this morning - feel fine (so far!)

DoucheCanoe · 15/10/2021 10:00

Ah sorry, mine was booster.

I didn't realise they were different Blush

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/10/2021 10:17

Neither did I. What’s the difference? Never heard of a third “jab”. Aren’t all of the vaccine courses complete after two?

Twospaniels · 15/10/2021 10:26

Yes I had my booster on Wednesday evening. By Thursday afternoon I had really achy legs and arms and was really cold. Jab site sore and swollen gland under armpit.
Went to bed early dosed with paracetamol and woke up this morning with the achiness gone, but armpit still a bit swollen.
Had Pfizer all 3 jabs. Didn’t get the achiness with the first two but did get the swollen gland with the first two.
These relatively minor side effects are worth it not to have covid I feel.

The 3rd jab is a 3rd full dose for immunosuppressed people whereas the booster is just a booster. The thinking is that immunosuppressed people will not have had as much immunity built up from jabs 1 and 2. So immunosuppressed people could end up with 4 jabs if they are also entitled to a booster.

You will have had two covid jabs approx 12 wks apart. Now theyare offering a booster 6 mths after your last jab

A doctor friend has just told me this is wrong. A 'booster' is simply a 3rd dose.

catwhispererpsps · 17/10/2021 19:06

Sore arm but felt fine.

Yes I know. But the booster is the same vaccine in the same quantity as 1 and 2.

So, what’s the difference?

www.crohnsandcolitis.org.uk/news/third-covid-19-vaccine

Your doctor friend is wrong:

"What is the difference between this third dose and a booster dose?
This vaccination is being called a ‘third dose’ as it is being recommended as part of your primary COVID-19 vaccination. The first two doses of the vaccine also make up your primary vaccination. This third dose is only being offered to people who are less likely to have had a strong immune response to the first two doses.

The booster programme is separate from the third dose. The booster vaccine dose is being offered to people in certain groups from September. The JCVI will review whether people who have had a third dose as part of their primary vaccination need a further booster vaccine, at a later date

What do I do if I am offered the booster before my third dose?
If you are eligible for both the third vaccine dose and booster dose, we recommend that you take whichever is offered to you first."

GreenLunchBox · 17/10/2021 20:36

I believe the 3rd dose is given from 3 weeks after the second dose but at the moment the booster is 6 months after the second dose.

What is third jab if not a booster? I don't understand
Cantstopthewaves · 17/10/2021 20:42

I've just rtftBlush.

Still don't get it.

yikesanotherbooboo · 17/10/2021 20:46

DS has had a third jab and I have had a booster in line with current recommendations.
When he got his text it was made very clear that it did not classify as a booster whereas my text invited me for a booster.
I have also had a flu jab done at work in the usual way.

Silvercatowner · 18/10/2021 08:07

The booster programme is separate from the third dose

Separate programme with a different name, could be exactly the same vaccine in the syringe.

I struggle to think a GP has this wrong...

Skade · 18/10/2021 08:33

I had mine and a flu jab on Saturday morning. Felt crap by about 8pm, like I did after the first (but not the second weirdly) - shivery, feverish and breathless and had a rough night, but felt better by Sunday morning. Pfizer arm still sore but flu jab arm is fine!
