TenFlix · 06/10/2021 22:06

Our school was supposed to administer in two weeks but we've been informed that the NHS is rung behind with the vaccine programme.

Anyone else in ether same boat? Had any schools completed theirs?

DS had his done on Monday with the rest of the school. North Hampshire.

Silkieschickens · 07/10/2021 05:13

Ours was cancelled for whole school but DD also caught covid before it so wouldn't have been eligible. New date has appeared but now refusing to accept her as she will be 16 then.

Silkieschickens · 07/10/2021 05:15

DSs school has just offered a November date.

TenFlix · 07/10/2021 06:15

Some countries are now pausing the vaccine for youngsters. I wondered if something like this was happening but hadn't been communicated yet.

Dd had hers three weeks ago.
We got a letter with attached consent on the first Friday back at school, jabbed they following Wednesday.
I was really impressed with the speed at which the school seemed to work.
Everyone who wanted it had it, all on one day.

Cet73 · 07/10/2021 06:23

Ours due next week but they were going to also receive the flu vac (nasal) at the same time, and we informed yesterday that they not going to give the flu at same time (no explanation why) and now flu approx to be rolled out in Nov.

ColettesEarrings · 07/10/2021 07:12

Both my boys in different schools have been done. But in both cases the vaccination team were at half the numbers the school had been told would come, and one and a half year groups weren't jabbed in each case as a result. Second mop-up visits are to be arranged but no one knows the likely timing yet. Could be months.

NightmareLoon · 07/10/2021 07:17

They are only pausing the Moderna vaccine, and continuing with Pfizer. Here we only use Pfizer for that age group.

UpsyDaisysarmpit · 08/10/2021 00:31

Ours was last Wednesday. They got all 12-15 year olds that had consent forms all at once.

Djifunrsn · 08/10/2021 00:33

I have two 12-15 year olds. Both done at school last week.

3asAbird · 08/10/2021 03:22

Not many Bristol schools have dates.
No idea when my teens have theirs.
Wish we could go vaccination centre.
Not sure i agree covid and flu same time.
Sirona written and said they delaying primary flu nasal spray to focus on senior school and covid 19 yet I know if very few schools who seen them or got a firm date.

Justrealised · 08/10/2021 07:28

My 14 year old had his on Wednesday.

PixieDreams · 08/10/2021 07:32

I'm involved in delivering this. Different school in our area every day. Some larger schools over two days. High uptake so far which has really surprised me. We are due to finish end of Nov. Anyone who tested positive in last 28 days is being offered a catch up clinic.

Yepnothatfeeling · 08/10/2021 07:36

On Scotland - I haven't heard anything about school vaccination yet, but drop in clinics are up and running, so my DC went there.

Bobbobbobbing · 08/10/2021 07:46

Ours were due last thursday, same day as the flu vaccine. Everyone got the flu one, but only years 7-9 got the covid one. Years 10 and 11 were told there wasn't enough vaccine and they'll come back at an unspecified date.

I'm relieved my clinically vulnerable 12 year old got it, but my 14 year old unfortunately didn't.

buckleten · 08/10/2021 07:50

Mine got both the covid and flu vaccine at school last Tuesday

ittakes2 · 08/10/2021 08:04

We were just told yesterday the yr10s and year 11s cancelled yr8s and yr 9s going ahead. The year 10s and yr 11s are doing GCSEs and I thought the whole point was to help children avoid missing out at school so really surprised with this decision.

PlinkPlankPlunk · 08/10/2021 08:09

@TenFlix

So, have any 12-16 kids received their Pfizer as part of the school vaccine rollout?
Yes, our school did them last week so DD is nearly at the 12 day “good protection” date. Which I’m thankful for, as she says many teenagers are in school when their siblings have tested positive ( I know that’s the guidance, but really…)
Wellbythebloodyhell · 08/10/2021 08:13

Not heard anything about them from DS school, although he doesn't want it so it's not really an issue for us.

Wakemeuuuup · 08/10/2021 08:22

We've heard nothing yet. I'm very surprised that younger kids are being jabbed while leaving the older ones out

TrainforSpeed · 08/10/2021 08:54

We're on three sites. 2 have already had them, but struggling to get the third scheduled.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/10/2021 09:50

In Wales we have to take them to vaccination centres.
Ds1 had his this week.
They did nasal flu vaccines in school this week. Not sure why they couldn’t have done both at the same time!

Karma1981 · 08/10/2021 09:57

Flu spray done in my sons school, was supposed to do covid vaccine 2 weeks ago but was cancelled 2 days before.
Not heard anything else about when they could be doing it now.

inferiorCatSlave · 08/10/2021 09:57

I did think it odd that they were sending DS to vaccination center but it's easy to get to and the appointments are all weekends or evenings for teh school kids..

We've just had letters about flu vaccination which is being done in school in about two weeks - so perhaps it was too much to organise both.

Still waiting for 12 year old's appointment - supposed to arrive before end of the month or we have to chase up.

Karma1981 · 08/10/2021 09:58

And just now have an email to say they will be in for my girls school (my son goes to a sen school) on Wednesday.
