Why are some people refusing the booster?

I had mine today and I told a couple of people at work (nhs) and they both said they arent having it but didnt really say why. They happily had the first two. Turns out alot of people at work arent having the booster. I personally couldnt wait but now Im wondering if I needed it?

I too dont get if you had it the first time around, why not carry on having it?

The risk of complications is mostly independent of number of booster shots you've had, but the added protection from each booster goes down.

My best friend is NHS and she isn’t getting the booster as she was incapacitated for 2 days after her first 2 injections, to the extent that she had to phone her mum to come and take her 3 children away as she couldn’t look after them. She was having hallucinations and had a temp of 41 both times. She’s also caught Covid since having her first 2 and had very mild symptoms (runny nose and a cough for a couple of days),

Erm...
(although it is like having a booster so may well not need another one).

Cookerhood · 28/09/2021 14:21

I think people also need to understand that this is all new. The scientists are learning as they go along, not making it up as they go along.
We should all be grateful that the jabs have averted an even greater disaster. Now whether everyone really NEEDS another booster is a valid point.

BertieBotts · 28/09/2021 19:01

I would rather not have a jab once a year so I probably won't have a booster. I don't mind having something if it's merited, but I'm not going to keep having injections which I find very stressful just for the sake of it.

Erm… what? That was her point. She’s had 2 vaccinations and an infection so likely very little need for a booster.

Who wants to look like a pin cushion. They should make their minds up instead of messing people around 1, 2, 3 and 4 jabs now in Israel.

GoodnightGrandma · 28/09/2021 20:21

I’m wavering over a booster.
I was told by a practice nurse friend that noticeable numbers of people are getting side effects with the booster, they’re literally wiped out for 48 hours.

TheHouseILiveIn · 28/09/2021 20:34

I'm not keen on a booster

speakingofart · 28/09/2021 20:37

Honestly? Because I had my jab primarily to protect vulnerable people and to get out of lockdown rather than being concerned about my risk. Both jabs made me very ill for a few days and I’m really reluctant to put myself through that again when 1 and 2 are not the motivating factors.

Horst · 28/09/2021 20:37

Because they don’t believe it was worth it if they keep having to have more jabs. They now don’t believe in the benefit of it with how they live their lives, they see minimal people, their shopping is all delivered they live like hermits.

Sweettea1 · 28/09/2021 20:52

1st it was one jab then 2 now a booster what will be next a double booster? No thanks I'll stick to the 2 I've had and the new antibodies I will now have from having covid at the minute.

Cookerhood · 28/09/2021 21:45

It was never one jab

Cookerhood · 28/09/2021 21:47

Erm… what?

Quite possibly. The point was that she probably had mild disease because of vaccination. It sounded like "I didn't need the vaccination - I only got mild symptoms when I did"

Sylvvie · 28/09/2021 21:52

I don't see the point of a booster within months of being double vaccinated. I know it will be like the flu vaccine and we will need it once a year, but it hasn't been a year yet for anyone!

TheGrumpyGoat · 28/09/2021 21:53

Well that’s not the case, and not what I said. She doesn’t want the booster as she had to take 4 days off work with extremely bad side effects from the first 2, and has also had Covid, so with 2 vaccinations plus infection she likely has a strong degree of protection 🤷🏻‍♀️. Nothing to do with thinking she didn’t need the first 2.

EachandEveryone · 29/09/2021 06:45

Well I had it on Monday and i was in bed at 730 last night. It definately wasnt like this the first time around. I must admit when my 75. Year old neighbour tells me shes not having it I wont be encouraging her itsreally wiped me out.
