This woman is a reporter for the Daily Telegraph.

She's suffered from myocarditis since having the Pfizer jab. She's young

And she's still urging people to be jabbed.

This has made my mind up.

As she points out herself on the twitter account you linked, the benefits outweigh the potential risks.

She's also not a child so not to relevant to the conversation regarding 12-15 year olds surely? They have a different benefit/risk profile to adults.

So I’m in hospital after developing rare heart inflammation linked to Pfizer. And even with this side effect, I would get the jab again. Side effects can be treated, dying from Covid-19 can’t. The benefits far outweigh the risks. 💉 🦠 #pfizer #getvaxxed #sydneystrong

GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 23/09/2021 14:55

She makes a good point.

And no, it wouldn't change my mind - just as hearing of other rare side effects to other vaccines didn't change my mind about getting my child vaccinated.

Thiswayorthatway · 23/09/2021 14:58

No it wouldn’t change my mind.

m0therofdragons · 23/09/2021 15:01

Nope, my dc will be vaccinated. I will also support dd if she wants to go on the pill when she’s older, despite the risks.

pontypridd · 23/09/2021 15:02

Ok - that's good. I posted it for those who'd like to know this sort of stuff - and hear it first hand from the person who's been damaged.

I've had Pfizer too and been unwell ever since. I wish I'd had AZ but who knows if that would have been any better.

Our kids will be getting Pfizer. This worries me. That's all.

Your teenagers (12-15 year olds) don't have to be vaccinated if you don't want them to. Right now it is not being offered to children so not even something you need to make a decision on.

Hope you feel a lot better soon.

ollyollyoxenfree · 23/09/2021 15:08

..and hear it first hand from the person who's been damaged.

I mean in her own words, she would have it again if offered, was only in hospital for a day, and will make a full recovery. I think the term "damaged" is a little excessive.

I was discharged this morning and the pain and fever is beginning to ease with medication. As you can see, pericarditis from #pfizer is easily treated and in most cases doesn’t leave lasting damage. The risks of Covid are much worse. Thank you
@NSWHealth
for your incredible care.

wasthataburp · 23/09/2021 15:09

But she is not a 12-15 year old so irrelevant.

However JCVI have already said that the benefits do not outweigh the risks for 12-15 year olds. End of.

lljkk · 23/09/2021 16:05

Not changed how I feel because it's just her opinions how she wants to weigh up risks.

She doesn't decide for others.
Not whether they smoke or get a jab or ride a bike... she doesn't decide.

Porfre · 23/09/2021 16:07

No.
Both my kids are younger than 10, and I think they've both had it already.

I wouldn't give them the vaccine. There really is no benefit to them. They've already had it.

Mindymomo · 23/09/2021 16:12

No, not changed my mind, benefits outweigh the risks.

Narutocrazyfox · 23/09/2021 16:50

Nope. Won't change my mind. There's no reason good enough to vaccinate healthy children.

Bells3032 · 23/09/2021 16:53

I mean she was in hospital for a day that's very mild pericarditis so not too drastic a side affect. My sister had pericarditis ten years ago (at 23) and was in hospital for nearly ten days

Lostinacloud · 23/09/2021 16:58

The thing is though, if she hadn’t been vaccinated then she wouldn’t have ended up in hospital with myocarditis. If she had caught covid naturally then she wouldn’t have been likely to have ended up in hospital with that either, let alone died from it.
Personally I think it’s madness that she is talking about getting the second dose when she reacted that badly to the first one and don’t consider her story or youthful optimism reassuring at all!

Lostinacloud · 23/09/2021 16:59

Pericarditis not myocarditis

SweetBabyCheeses99 · 23/09/2021 17:00

She says that “the side effects can be treated” though which is v misleading…

For starters, they don’t even have any covid treatments so don’t know how they’re supposed to have found some covid jab treatments!

Myocarditis can be “treated” with rest and ibuprofen. Any damage to your heart muscle is permanent though. We simply aren’t born with the ability for it to repair itself. Ask anyone who’s had a heart attack/failure/bypass/angina etc how they’re recovering now that their heart has miraculously got better!

Explosivefarts · 23/09/2021 17:02

If she isn’t under 16 her experience is irrelevant. I will still be following advice from the JCVI

NannyOggsward · 23/09/2021 17:04

No because she’s wrong, at her age the benefits actually don’t outweigh the risks, the risk of death for Covid or even complications for children are minute.

She’s a reporter not a scientist why would her opinion change mine? Science says 12-15 shouldn’t be jabbed. It’s a political decision.

So no, my 3 kids are just out of isolation for positive Covid tests, as am I, varying degrees of symptom, none serious, Covid not worth the (also small) risk of the jab.

Explosivefarts · 23/09/2021 17:05

Isn’t she 29 a world of difference from a just turned 12 year old .

PurpleDaisies · 23/09/2021 17:08

Science says 12-15 shouldn’t be jabbed.

SOME science says that. Not all. Anyone that says there’s such a thing as “the science” saying pretty much anything hasn’t really understood science.

AGreenerShadeofKale · 23/09/2021 17:16

No.
The risk profile in covid is very much age related.
Having said that my child wants the vaccine.

pontypridd · 23/09/2021 17:21

Isn’t she 29 a world of difference from a just turned 12 year old

Risk outweighs benefit even more for a 12 year old.

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 23/09/2021 17:23

Risk outweighs benefit even more for a 12 year old.

Does it? I thought the JCVI said that benefits outweighed the risks but not by enough to recommend a nationwide booster programme solely on that measure.

PurpleDaisies · 23/09/2021 17:25

@pontypridd

Isn’t she 29 a world of difference from a just turned 12 year old

Risk outweighs benefit even more for a 12 year old.

From the JCVI:

The assessment by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) is that the health benefits from vaccination are marginally greater than the potential known harms. However, the margin of benefit is considered too small to support universal vaccination of healthy 12 to 15 year olds at this time.

Please do not post misinformation.

pontypridd · 23/09/2021 17:25

*Science says 12-15 shouldn’t be jabbed.

SOME science says that. Not all*

Once upon a time it was those worried about these vaccines who were named ‘anti vaxxers’ ‘tin foil hatters’ and other such names. They were attacked for choosing which science to believe.

They once did seem like conspiracy theorists. It’s true. But now it’s starting to feel the other way round. I watch the video of this woman speaking. She sounds mad as a hatter to me. Yet so many of you think it’s all fine.
