Has anyone been to an indoor gig since reopening

I'm listening to some music tonight and I realised it's been too long since I was at a gig last. Its been far too long. I never got around to going to a gig in 2019 and also 2018. I was just too busy. I never anticipated a pandemic with widespread closures to happen for 2020. The last gig I was at was 2017.

One of my favourite singers is playing in a few more weeks. It's a gig that as rescheduled from the Spring of 2020. There's still some tickets available.

I'm under 40. I am double jabbed with pfizer. My health is not 100%.

I'm thinking, would it be safe to go to an indoor gig? For people becoming infected with the virus after vaccinations are the symptoms serious or mild?

Just wondering if I should take the risk of a gig?

My partner went to an indoor gig on Monday, it was cancelled and rescheduled due to covid. He had to present proof of being double vaxed to enter the building, at time of ticket issuing they had to reserve seating due to covid restrictions at the specific time but when he got there that had all been scrapped and it was a free for all.

Usualsundayblues · 22/09/2021 22:27

Last week and it was absolutely fantastic I felt quite emotional just being out and back in that sort of environment

Dghgcotcitc · 22/09/2021 23:06

Yes was incredible!! I know I did miss live music but I didn't realise how much until I was there 5000 people singing dancing and celebrating just being alive it was so amazing I tingle just thinking about it!

Bobholll · 22/09/2021 23:08

Yea. It was ace. I’m 33, jabbed & mild asthma.

middleager · 22/09/2021 23:12

I've been to several gigs. I am in my 40s and double vaccinated.

I was at a gig on Saturday, shoulder to shoulder. Then my son tested positive for Covid and I did on Tuesday.
I've been really rough with it and God knows if I infected other gig goers

This is the risk we take. Gigs are sweaty, packed with no facemasks.
I knew my son would bring Covid back from school though, so I decided that I'd enjoy a few gigs as Covid was inevitable.

HighHighHopes · 22/09/2021 23:18

Yes. I've been to three over the last 6 weeks. Great fun and I've been fine.

50, double Pfizer.

mrsfollowill · 22/09/2021 23:19

I've got 3 lined up but for next year- hoping cases have reduced by 2022. I have missed live music so much- double jabbed and old enough to have been offered a booster soon. Cannot wait to be there - have taken the stance that the vaccines work so I'm getting on with things. Appreciate not everyone feels this way but I'm sick of WFH and going nowhere and willing to chance it!

Evenstar · 22/09/2021 23:19

We went last week, the only sign anything was different was staff wearing visors and hand sanitiser. Very few people wearing masks and full capacity and singing. We had a really good evening.

Evenstar · 22/09/2021 23:20

Both double jabbed.

tedsletterofthelaw · 22/09/2021 23:31

I have one in November.

Not a sit down one either. Think lots of sweaty metal heads crammed into a building and mosh-pits galore.

I CAN NOT wait!

Had covid mid 30s and doubled jabbed with Pfizer. Though I would be going regardless of any of that.

stormyweather274 · 22/09/2021 23:37

Does a school assembly with 400 kids count?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/09/2021 05:22

Not yet but I'm going in November.

whatswithtodaytoday · 23/09/2021 05:34

My partner's played three pub gigs now, small audiences (less than 100) but very busy venues and people crammed together. He hasn't got Covid yet (late 30s, double vaxxed). I'm going to one this weekend - first gig since the pandemic.

We've decided as we have a child in nursery we're going to get it at some point, so we may as well do the things that make life worth living. We're still wearing masks in shops to protect others.

Mylittlesandwich · 23/09/2021 05:42

Yes, one a few weeks ago but I'm up in Scotland so people were still wearing masks for the most part. It was great and we didn't get covid.

GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 23/09/2021 06:09

Yes, I've been to a few now. Hadn't been to one since Christmas 2020 and usually go to three or four a month. Missing live music was one of the hardest parts of lockdowns for me! First one I went to was very emotional - it was the band's first show since pre-covid and even the singer got a little teary at one point! Going to shows again has been beyond brilliant.

I'm 49, double jabbed and CV. OP, if you get the opportunity to go to a show you'd love to see, do it. If the past year and a half has shown me anything, it's shown me not to take anything for granted or miss out on experiences when you've got the chance.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 23/09/2021 08:27

Your risk is yours to determine -- only you know your health condition(s) and what is and isn't a good idea.

I was at an indoor gig earlier this week. Nick Cave! It was brilliant. Like pp I'm a real live music fan. I last went to a gig in February 2020 and I think this is the longest I've gone without seeing live music since I was 14.

The venue was relatively cautious and I'm in Scotland so some rules are different here we had to show proof of vaccination and a negative LFT taken within 24 hours of the start of the show. They asked the audience to wear masks throughout the performance; most people (around two-thirds) stuck to this I would say.

Dghgcotcitc · 23/09/2021 08:36

School assembly with 400 kids doesn’t count no a) a lot less that the 5000 that fill Brixton academy, b) kids used to sit still in assembly not move around a room dancing and jumping etc…although accept that could have changed.

Yes I know everyone here likes to pretend schools are uniquely the only places “back to normal” with poor teachers out there while everyone else is living like it’s March 2020 but they it isn’t actually true in fact my kid still has to wear a mask in school there was no mask wearing at the gig at all! Basically teachers moan more than those working in hospitality but there is significant covid risks in both sectors.

22WR · 23/09/2021 08:41

I went to an arena gig at the weekend, 20,000 people. It was amazing! My husband and I have missed live music so much. People just seemed so happy to finally be able to enjoy it again.

ChristmasCurry · 23/09/2021 09:17

Yes a couple of weeks ago - 35000 people.

Was fantastic.

ChristmasCurry · 23/09/2021 09:27

Oops - thought you said outdoors !

Going to an indoor gig in November.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 23/09/2021 09:35

not gigs, but two sold out classical concerts and sold out theatre at venues between 2000 - 5000 seats. One venue asked for proof of vaccination or LFT, plus masks, the others were come as you are. It was so thrilling to be back hearing live music, and none of us were infected. However I work in the NHS so for me I feel that I've been mixing throughout, so wasn't worried when I booked.

alloalloallo · 23/09/2021 09:48

I’ve been to a music festival - outdoors mostly, but inside large tents and marquees.

It was brilliant - felt a bit weird at first but it felt so good and normal

We all had to show a vaccine passport or take a LFT before entry - and they were strictly sticking to it

Babdoc · 23/09/2021 09:56

I am booked for an indoor, full capacity, masked, seated concert in November.
I am 65, and have struggled with Long Covid for 18 months since being hospitalised with acute Covid, but I want my life back. I have already been attending church and bridge club, masked, for three weeks.
You just have to weigh up your own feelings, OP. Having a life, versus infection risk. I live alone, and the past year has been an endurance test.

TheGrumpyGoat · 23/09/2021 09:58

Yes I have, it was wonderful. Venue didn’t have any vaccination/test requirements. I didn’t catch Covid. Got home and booked a few more!

SirB0bby · 23/09/2021 23:20

Yes, a couple of weeks ago. It was great fun. Didn't catch anything. We had to show proof of vaccination.
