Had a fairly mild dose of Covid around the 2nd September and I'm really surprised how much its still effecting me.

I'm exhausted, headaches and often breathless. Had none of this before and I'm wondering how normal it is. (I've got an appointment with the GP tomorrow) Can't tell if some of it is because I'm anxious so I get more anxious and it's a bit of a vicious circle.

I caught it after I'd had my second jab at the end of June. I has a week off work and was completely wiped out by it.

I'm still really tired, constant sore throat and headaches. Take paracetamol or ibuprofen most days. Have had blood tests for glandular fever ect but nothing detected so all attributed to covid.

Recycledblonde · 14/09/2021 17:30

I have sinus type headaches still, thinking back I had exactly the same issues post a proper dose of flu 25 years ago. That lasted about eighteen months so it’s obviously how I react to nasty viral illnesses.

ConnectedToSandsview · 14/09/2021 17:31

Positive PCR on 24 june

I still wake up coughing 3 times a night.

I’m still exhausted. I can now do a big shop without needing a nap, but it took 2 months.

I am grateful for this thread but sorry everyone is still suffering Flowers

I had it in August, just like a bad cold, carried on working, but it has been hard to shake off. Shaky feeling and weak legs carried on for a week or so, then sore throat and cough came back. I still feel tired, as others say, I think about going to Sainsburys and want to cry, yet other days I am fine. It comes and goes. From time to time I can't taste much.

@QuestionableMouse

I was due my second vaccine tomorrow but I've pushed it back until October. I feel crap enough that I didn't think it was sensible to get it.
I believe they ask you to wait 28 days from diagnosis before you get the vaccine so that is the right thing to do but you might be interested to know that a study shows if you still have symptoms by the time of your second vaccination then the vaccination is more likely to improve your symptoms (57% cases) than worsen them (19%).

Fatigue is one of the main symptoms of Covid.

Apart from fatigue, I had the cough and a bit of diarrhoea, and a somewhat raised temperature for a few hours, that’s all. No headache, body aches, taste or smell issues. But the fatigue didn’t start to improve for a full two weeks, then took another 3 to fully resolve.

Don’t rush it, OP. Take it easy, take loads of rest. Push it too hard too soon and you could set yourself back.

Days 1-3 days very mild symptoms - tickle in my throat and slightly chesty, productive cough. +ve LFT at the end of the first day.

Days 4-6 Felt worse. The kind of cold symptoms I’d have worked from home in more normal times - did some work through the headache but slept most of the afternoons. Very sleepy, blinding headache, diarrhea for a few hours, horribly weak wobbly legs one day, lost sense of smell, dizziness.

Day 7 - Felt pretty human again (still headaches but not weak) thought I was on the mend

Day 8-9 - High fever for two days. Symptoms all returned. Sense of smell started coming back.

Day 10 - 14 Temperature back to normal. Still headache and dizziness and fatigue but feeling better and symptoms reduced over the days. Had one afternoon completely symptom free! Left the house for very short walks (3-500m).

Day 15 Feeling as though I am definitely over the worse. Headaches and dizziness only with more exertion. I think it will still take another week or two to get back to work fully - part of my job is very physical.

I have been pretty cautious as I suffered badly from CFS when I was younger.

I would say that if you have a case that is more towards moderate than mild to watch out for symptoms continuing / getting a bit worse in the second week (I read somewhere here that docs say days 7-10 can be the worse). And that 10 days is the isolation period, it does not mean that you will be ready to go back to work then. To me it felt more like flu but without the delirium!

Double jabbed jan/April.
First sign of covid was feeling chilly one night so went to bed early.
Fine next day, but tired.
Day 3 woke up with cold and exhausted. Positive LFT followed by positive PCR.
Day 4 felt dreadful. Banging headache, runny nose, sweating, breathless, painful sinuses. Slept all day.
Days 5-7 bit better. Nose no longer runny, ears blocked, headache kept at bay with paracetamol. Managed to get dressed but had to have a lie down afterwards. WFH but had to keep taking breaks away from screen.
Day 8 (today) rough. Awful headache again which paracetamol not touching. Sore eyes, very sleepy.

artquejtion · 15/09/2021 12:18

I had it last October 2020, the fatigue has been ongoing, some days I would have to lay down on the bed after walking upstairs. I was finally able to return to the gym two weeks ago, had a few failed attempts prior, and feel I am almost back to normal.

However, I have ongoing brain fog and memory issues which I do wonder if that is from covid.

It really took its toll!

Stasiland · 15/09/2021 13:25

Caught covid end of nov. Off work for 12 weeks but first 6 were awful. Pretty much lived on the sofa, up the stairs to the loo a couple of times a day was pretty much it. Resumed work (NHS frontline) and then big relapse from the jab/ long covid and currently off again. My sats were never an issue and even fluey symptoms weren't that bad, just seemed to affect my asthma and heart rate.

QuestionableMouse · 15/09/2021 13:53

Thank you all for sharing. Just had another nap. I'm meant to be back at work this weekend but I honestly don't feel up to it at all.

Also just realised that my hair is falling out - not sure if it's stress or related to the Covid. Bit of both I think!

Your body will be fighting hard, so rest if you need to.

Should have said that I am double jabbed and mid-40s.

Janaih · 15/09/2021 14:27

I had it in July, not too ill just like a bad cold for a week or so.
The fatigue and brain fog lasted all of August but I'm starting to feel sharper now. (It is possible that school holidays contributed to fatigue though!)

bonbonours · 15/09/2021 14:29

I had at the end of the summer. My cough has so far lasted 10 days after the end of my isolation period. Otherwise I'm fine

QuestionableMouse · 15/09/2021 15:54

Honestly thinking about putting a sick note in for the weekend. I've done nothing more taxing than the school run today and I'm so exhausted I genuinely feel like crying.

I had it last month. Was fully recovered after a week apart from having no smell or taste. I never really felt tired. A month on and my smell is back but taste still a bit iffy, food tastes different than it used to.
