Had a fairly mild dose of Covid around the 2nd September and I'm really surprised how much its still effecting me.

I'm exhausted, headaches and often breathless. Had none of this before and I'm wondering how normal it is. (I've got an appointment with the GP tomorrow) Can't tell if some of it is because I'm anxious so I get more anxious and it's a bit of a vicious circle.

I had it mildly in august. I have an ongoing cough / snotty nose, fatigue. I can't figure out if it is new colds since the kids have been back at school or if it the effects of covid.

BoPeepCantFindHerFucks · 14/09/2021 12:52

I couldn't Hoover the house without taking a couple of breaks for about a month or so after. Climbing the stairs was hard.
My sense of smell wasn't right for maybe a month too
Was really tired too
Then all side effects seemed to disappear

QuestionableMouse · 14/09/2021 12:54

Thanks! Walking back from the school today felt like climbing Mount Everest. Can't believe it's had such an effect when I only had a mild infection.

Was off work 2 weeks, then took another 2-3 weeks to feel back to normal. I remember my dh taking me for my first short walk after I felt a little better. We went about 15m from the car towards the beach and I burst into tears and said I can’t go any further.

LaMariposa · 14/09/2021 12:57

I really struggled for 6-8 months. I then had my first vaccine back in May and after a week of headaches and feeling off improved substantially.

Foghead · 14/09/2021 12:58

I was ill for 3 days then exhausted for about 5 weeks.

RunningStrong · 14/09/2021 12:59

I was ill with what I'd describe as "nasty bug" level of illness for about 2 weeks and it took a month after that for me to feel properly well.

QuestionableMouse · 14/09/2021 13:08

I'm honestly thinking about driving to the school. It's less than half a mile away. The thought of walking is making me want to cry which is ridiculous because before Covid I walked at least five miles a day, if not more.

Absolutely drive, Mouse. You need to take your recovery slowly and build up to what you were doing before. Look after yourself.

Suchluck · 14/09/2021 13:11

I had it when I was 32 weeks pregnant and was very sick. I didn’t leave my bed for two weeks. Another 2 weeks after that before I went back to work. The fatigue was very bad

petshihtzu · 14/09/2021 13:35

Im 21, so my recovery was ok. I got it this June. I didn't have smell or taste for a while and then afterwards it was just weak smell or taste. It's pretty much come back now although still not 100%. My symptoms were mainly the cough. I never got a fever.

I hope you feel better soon X

QuestionableMouse · 14/09/2021 13:37

Thank you! Honestly I didn't feel this bad after the flu and I was really ill with that!

Take it easy, OP.
It was just a cough really for me, except I woke at about half three every morning for the next three months. That cleared up as soon as I made a GP appointment so it probably was anxiety. After eight months, the cough still flares up every month in the luteal phase.
Get well soon.

QuestionableMouse · 14/09/2021 15:18

Ended up walking to the school and back (could see that there was no parking) I'd had a nap before (unintentionally!) and managed okay.

I had it nearly 4 months ago - I ended up in hospital, on O2 for a few days, and now I have Long Covid. I’m still very tired, even though I am doing next to nothing, and doing anything (like going to knitting group for 2 hours yesterday) leaves me exhausted - and I get breathless just walking to the downstairs loo.

I lost my sense of taste and smell, and my sense of taste seems to be back, but I don’t think my sense of smell is fully back yet - but that’s not a major problem.

SecretWitch · 14/09/2021 15:51

Very ill with cough and sore throat for about a week. Sense of taste took about a month to return. Fatigue last also for a month.

QuestionableMouse · 14/09/2021 15:51

I'm sorry. That's so tough. Such an awful virus!

I'm on day 12 still have sinus pain, headache and general fuzzy head feeling, like I have a permanent hangover.

Todaythiscouldbe · 14/09/2021 16:06

I had covid back in january and still feel like I have a permanent hangover. I wake up exhausted, nap on and off all day and can't drive anywhere on my own as it doesn't feel safe. I actually had covid fairly mildly and managed to wfh full time while I had it, I've got worse since I had the vaccine

QuestionableMouse · 14/09/2021 16:54

I was due my second vaccine tomorrow but I've pushed it back until October. I feel crap enough that I didn't think it was sensible to get it.

I had it mid-August. We were locked down at my work (care home) as the residents had it and passed it to me so I had to work through it.

Still feeling pretty rough. Weak, fatigued, headaches.

Have taken two weeks off with stress as I wasn’t being given time to recover. Spent most of this week asleep.

Still no smell, minimal taste and hideous headaches. Wheezing, too.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 14/09/2021 17:05

I was actually due to get my second jab the day I tested positive.

Beesmakehoney · 14/09/2021 17:12

We had covid here mid August, spent a few days in bed with general flu like symptoms. Wheezy chest, cough and mild fatigue hasn't gone. It's really hard at work and I am fed up with it.

Themadcatparade · 14/09/2021 17:24

Just as I was getting over the ‘covid’ part, I had an ear infection and a sinus infection which had me off work for another ten days and took me ages to be able to eat properly again. Breathless, chest pains, on and off tiredness where I had to sleep. My immune system hasn’t been great I’ve been picking everything up since, I’ve had a cold, a cough, tonsilitis, a UTI and multiple cold sores since. My migranes have come back too.

I caught covid end of may, now I’m losing my hair. My taste and smell came back somewhat but then disappeared again about 6 week ago. Everything smells and tastes like bananas 😭

QuestionableMouse · 14/09/2021 17:24

I've never had a cough which is the weird thing. Just feeling a bit breathless now and then and so tired I could cry at times. The stress isn't helping I don't think.
