Concerts

Decisions decisions.

Would you go to a concert at an indoor venue, a big arena in Birmingham if that makes any difference in the next month or so?

We have tickets for a concert that was rescheduled from June 2020 and now the date is getting near, not sure we want to be in close proximity to that many people.

Both adults are double jabbed but some minor health issues and 2 teens, 16 yr old has had 1 vaccination and 13 yr old none.

I know the chances of being really ill are lower now the adults are vaccinated but is it worth the risk of being ill/ isolating.

Any thoughts welcome

@Badabingbadabum

Restinblue don't whatever you do then think that you can book some tickets for the Foo Fighters next year! You'll need a while to get over the price. I was surprised even before I realised I was looking at the price of one ticket, not two!
We've booked Foo Fighters tickets for DSs Christmas present(just DH and him). Spent an hour in an online queue on release day.

He's going to go mental Grin

I think I might have tickets for the same concert.

I'm pretty nervous but we are going to go.

I'm double jabbed and we all had Covid in January. I'm hoping that gives us a pretty good protection level.

I will be wearing my mask though and avoiding getting squashed into a big crowd while waiting to go in or getting to and from our seats.

I do feel we have to carry on now. I wouldn't be booking any new concerts right now but as this is already booked and paid for (and cost a bloody fortune) I'm going to go and hope for the best.

Yes, I’d go. Been to the theatre today, was amazing 🙌🏼 I have missed it immensely.

Scarby9 · 11/09/2021 22:07

I've just turned down an invitation to the theatre for the reasons you state.
Yet I have been in classrooms with no social distancing.
It just feels wrong to opt in non-work time to be in such close proximity indoors.

Thanks for all your responses.

I’m going to think about it as still have time. I know we can’t avoid it forever but it just seems a strange thing to do when it’s not a must & not once in a lifetime thing, however nice it would be to go.

My DD has just started yr12 so wants to avoid missing anymore school if possible after the last 2 school years, I know she could pick it up at school but seeing as education is non negotiable we have to accept that risk.

Don’t get me wrong we have been going to places/ doing things indoors and out so not adverse to getting back out there but obviously not with thousands of other people at one time.

I was surprised to read that vaccine passports won’t be going ahead in England this morning and thought about this thread. I’m unvaccinated and would feel very irresponsible going to the concerts I’ve got tickets to without being tested. But apparently I can.

I wouldn't go to an mass indoor event at the moment even iif I had deferred, non-refundable tickets but I don't have children in school.

If I had kids inb school then I feel its far more likely they would pick it up there and bring it home, so don't think going to a gig is going to make a massive difference to my overall household's exposure to covid.
