Have you had Covid after being double jabbed?

I know of a couple of people who have, and am wondering how common it is.

If you have had it, how bad was it?

How recently were you jabbed?

My adult child's spouse who is double jabbed did have it in July 2021.

Mazig · 05/09/2021 10:37

DH and I currently have it. Both double jabbed. I’ve been ill for 10 days, all the respiratory symptoms, felt like a bad virus but no worse and hopefully turning corner now. DH’s symptoms milder - more like a head cold. Ds13 had it too, for him it lasted about 6 hours and he’s fine again.

Iamsodonewith2020 · 05/09/2021 10:38

Brother and all work colleagues had it 2 weeks ago after schools went back in Scotland. All double jabbed and all had covid before. Brother said it was like bad flu with horrendous headache. Colleagues all said really bad headache was worst symptom, literally bedridden with it. All colleagues families now have it too.

AvaCallanach · 05/09/2021 10:40

Yes, jabbed in Feb/May with Pfizer
Got it from dd.
Like a very heavy long lasting cold. No chest involvement. 10 days off work.

Itsallabouttea · 05/09/2021 10:41

5 double jabbed members of a band I'm friends with recently caught it, none got too ill but did pass it on to family. Really struggling to understand why they're bringing in vaccine only condition of entry to places when this is the case!

clary · 05/09/2021 10:43

Yes, second jab was in April, had covid this week. Caught off son who got it from sports activity (he is only single jabbed).

Was ok - one day I felt pretty yukky, been fine for 2-3 days now. Two worst things, not being able to run or swim and bloody invasive calls from NHS T&T.

Knittingupastorm · 05/09/2021 10:46

A friend of mine did. He spent a day in bed feeling shivery and achy and generally crap, and then a bit rubbish and tired for a couple of days as he got better.

PurplePumpkinDream · 05/09/2021 10:51

Yes I’m on my third week. Feeling fluey on and off, dry cough subsided after first 2 weeks, still queasy stomach but I get that occasionally in any case. Was shocked to catch it in the first place, but then you realise you’ve got to be grateful that we’ve had jabs.

joyam · 05/09/2021 10:52

My second jab was end of July. Me, DH and two DC currently have it. The DC (young so unjabbed) have zero symptoms, DH like a bad cold, me like a very mild cold, feel a bit rough but haven't had to go to bed or take any medication. Very grateful as assume without the vaccine it would have been much worse!

NellyTimes · 05/09/2021 11:12

Me, I had my second jab in late March and had covid mid July. Just had mild cold symptoms and loss of taste and smell.

Vaccines don't stop you from catching it but should stop you from having severe symptoms, but I'm sure you know that. The reason people are still catching it is because all the restrictions were lifted so the numbers have obviously risen again. It's not hard to understand.

Smartiepants79 · 05/09/2021 11:16

I have. Felt a bit coldy for a week. Could have easily carried on with all my daily life. Barely noticed I’d got it.

ItWorriesMeThisKindofThing · 05/09/2021 11:21

Yes. Unpleasant - three days of flu like symptoms. Slight cough after, took a couple of weeks to go.

Maverickess · 05/09/2021 11:31

Yes, I know 14 people who are double vaccinated and have tested positive around 3 months after vaccination.
All caught up in the same outbreak.
Some are CV, some CEV (elderly) and therefore symptoms and severity have ranged from heavy cold like symptoms to finding it really hard to fight off and unable to do anything independently.
I think the vaccine has reduced symptoms, but not transmission or infection.

QueenStromba · 05/09/2021 11:59

@AbstractEim

Anecdotally it seems very common but according to data from the Zoe app it’s currently only 0.2% of double jabbed that have subsequently tested positive. I imagine this will rise.
What's the original source for this?
Xenia · 05/09/2021 12:19

Also some will have chosen not to take a test so statistics may not be quite as correct as thought.

BewilderedBee · 05/09/2021 15:18

I have had covid after being double vaccinated. I had mild symptoms but it completely wiped me out and all week feeling I have no energy and needing a lot of sleep - napping daily. Does anyone know that if double vaccinated, is it more likely a repeat PCR would come back negative sooner?

I'm being retested by Nhs for medical treatment on the 13th sept. My first PCR was 28th august.

CatAlice · 05/09/2021 16:41

Yes.
Jabs January and April. Just recovering from a bad dose of covid and was hospitalised. I am immunosuppressed and CEV though and told by doctors it would have been worse without vaccine.

LeoTimmyandVi · 05/09/2021 16:59

Yes, me. Double jabbed with Pfizer in Dec and March. Had to go for a PCR test to go back to work after someone tested positive in my workplace (healthcare), positive result received this morning.

I feel fine and would not have tested ordinarily.

Nevergiveuponyourdreams · 06/09/2021 22:09

My niece double jabbed with Pfizer caught Covid about six weeks ago. Unwell after her jabs and when she caught Covid she had sinusitis, headache and fever for about 48hrs
DH and I both double vaccinated March/May with AZ have just tested positive. Got tested as DH lost his sense of smell yesterday. We both have colds and sore throats. No fever.
Managed to avoid getting Covid for 18 months.

noblegreenk · 06/09/2021 22:22

Not me but but friend of mine did about 4 weeks ago. It absolutely floored her. Her husband is classed as CEV, he caught it first, he wasn't too ill and recovered quickly. My friends symptoms started 2 days after his and she could barely get out of bed, she couldn't breathe and symptoms lasted for approx 3 weeks. She couldn't believe how unwell she was considering she was double jabbed.

Torvi · 06/09/2021 22:27

I had it about 5 weeks ago. Felt really rough for a few days with cold and respiratory symptoms but the worst thing was the fatigue which lingered. I've had worse flu but this went on for longer.

peachpearplum01 · 06/09/2021 22:39

Yes, have been ill for a couple of weeks now. I was surprised how wiped out I was and still not better (but much better than I was) am normally pretty fit and healthy and don’t tend to get colds / flu very badly but this was something else, I couldn’t work trough it even from home.

REignbow · 06/09/2021 22:49

Both DH and l have it now and both had our second vaccines in May.

I have no fever nor chills and have not lost my sense of taste. I do feel more tired than normal and have an intermittent headache. A side from the first couple of days, I have just carried on a normal (although resting more).

DH on the other hand has all the above and has so far has not left the bed. He is far worse than l am.

I am glad I am vaccinated. We both caught it from our DC who primary aged. They were really unwell and developed pneumonia and have not really left the sofa/bed for three weeks now.

It is a horrible virus!

Snaffletrousers · 06/09/2021 22:54

Me and DH had it, both double jabbed. I had my second in April and he had it in June.

Both had mild cold symptoms and a cough. Lost our taste and smell too. All back to normal a week after apart from DH who has a bit of a cough. Pre Covid I would have carried on life as normal.

Elieza · 06/09/2021 22:56

My friend was double jabbed and has been in bed for a week so far with covid. It’s ongoing.

People seem to think if you’re double jabbed you won’t get it or will have a mild form.

My friend is proof that it’s not necessarily the case.
