Have you had Covid after being double jabbed?

I know of a couple of people who have, and am wondering how common it is.

If you have had it, how bad was it?

How recently were you jabbed?

Not me, but two colleagues got it separately about 4 weeks ago.
We worked through Covid all that time, then they got it.

Robostripes · 05/09/2021 07:41

Not me but my parents have recently had it. DF - a mild cold. DM - more like flu, properly wiped her out for nearly 3 weeks.

TheWindow · 05/09/2021 07:43

Yes. I had my jabs in March & June, and got covid at the end of July.

I had flu symptoms and was in bed for about 10 days, then much better but very tired for a couple of weeks after that. No lasting symptoms so far.

Okbutnotgreat · 05/09/2021 07:44

We’ve been ok so far but friends have had it. One was like a cold, just felt off colour and a bit meh for a week, the other was floored and spent a week in bed but both fine a few weeks on. Their kids also got it and barely noticed.

Ninjawannabee · 05/09/2021 07:45

Someone I manage at work (v conscientious worker so I know he wasn't lying) caught it about 2 months after his second jab

He's a very fit 26 Yr old man, cycles 100 hilly miles at the weekend for fun

He was wiped out for a few days and ill for about two weeks, all back to normal now though thankfully

caughtinanet · 05/09/2021 07:48

Not me but I know several people who have. It's very common and becoming more common every day as more people are jabbed.

I know we won't get to 100% jabbed but suppose we did then everyone who got it would be

As Prof JVT said that's just the maths of any vaccine that doesn't stop all transmission

AbstractEim · 05/09/2021 08:02

Anecdotally it seems very common but according to data from the Zoe app it’s currently only 0.2% of double jabbed that have subsequently tested positive. I imagine this will rise.

Mummyme87 · 05/09/2021 08:06

Not me but I know a fair few that have. Mainly all HCPs

whatswithtodaytoday · 05/09/2021 08:08

I know a few people who have now. Illness has ranged from a week feeling really rough like flu, to very mild cold-like symptoms and loss of smell. All are now absolutely fine, bar one who still can't smell or taste much two months later.

I don't know anyone over the age of 50 who's had it though.

PenOrPencil · 05/09/2021 08:11

Secondary teacher here. 4 of my colleagues and I got it at the end of summer term / beginning of summer holidays. All double jabbed, ranging in age from late 20s to late 60s. All mild cases like a flu, although the 2 days I spent vomiting didn’t feel mild at the time.

WellJuhnelle · 05/09/2021 08:12

Yep. Had my vaccinations in February and April and then caught Covid at the beginning of July. I only realised because I took a LFT. I had a runny nose and a slight headache which I assumed was hay fever but then did lose my smell and taste for a couple of weeks.

Zampa · 05/09/2021 08:12

DH and I had our jabs in Feb/April and caught Covid in early July. We both had the equivalent of bad colds. The worst part was losing taste/smell.

I think we would have suffered greatly without the vaccine, especially DH who is asthmatic.

TweeterandtheMonkeyman · 05/09/2021 08:13

Yes me, I’m suffering at the moment & feel quite put out that the jabs haven’t protected me! Had me second AZ mid July and tested positive along with my DC last week. DH , double jabbed with Phizer, has not caught it from us so far.
The kids are fine- had mild cold symptoms for a couple of days.
I have had 4 days so far of nasty chesty cough and very high temps . Not nice … but perhaps I would have been worse without the vaccine - scary thought!

FusionChefGeoff · 05/09/2021 08:17

DH had jabs in June (?) and is currently on Day 6 of feeling pretty crap with it but no worse than a heavy cold / flu so vaccine has definitely done its job. He has asthma, is overweight and not in great medical condition generally so I would have been terrified if it weren't for the jabs.

Kittyswhiskers · 05/09/2021 08:21

I know a lot of people who have (all nurses) who worked through the pandemic then caught covid after vaccination. None were poorly enough to need hospital, most had headaches, colds, aches etc. One nurse who didn’t have the vaccine (20s) needed the paramedics to come out and is still breathless weeks later. She avoided hospital though thankfully.

Bubbublish · 05/09/2021 08:42

My second jab was in June. I have no underlying health conditions. I ended up in hospital for 10 nights. On admission my temperature was 39.3, oxygen level was 86% and my CRP level was 492, this is written on my discharge papers. I was very poorly and put on a CPAP machine. Luckily I avoided ICU but it was touch and go for a while. Very scary times. The medical team said the jabs probably saved my life! I was given a concoction of drugs including dexamethasone, remdisivir and tocilizumab and thanks to the amazing NHS I pulled through.

I have no idea why covid affected me so badly.

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/09/2021 09:13

Friends grandparents both got it after double jags. Both in hospital (in their late 80s) but recovered

coffeepleeease · 05/09/2021 09:16

Yes DH and I, both mild. DH had a bad cough (he is asthmatic), felt shivery, and fatigue. I had nausea and fatigue. Both recovered quickly.

spartanthehorse · 05/09/2021 09:24

Not that I know of but several family members and friends. It's started with one member of the family and then quickly spread to everyone else. Children have all been asymptomatic, adults varying degrees of feeling quite ill.

MrsWooster · 05/09/2021 09:34

Yes.. Pfizer jabs in Feb and May and just finishing my isolation from a mild case-cold with loss of some smell/taste.
I also had it in March 2020 (undiagnosed) and have had long covid ever since.

Siameasy · 05/09/2021 09:42

I was quite affected by it. Last jab in July; caught it a month later. Days 1-10 it was fairly mild but when I came out of isolation I had a relapse. Crushing fatigue and the famous burning lungs which was horrible. I stayed in bed for two days and did not hardly move I was so scared. Then there was dizziness, really unsettling. I’m now day 18 post +ve, still full of snot, sore throat and I’m out of breath washing my hair in the shower Sad cannot do anything strenuous eg changing bed linen but I’ve been on some walks and that’s been ok
No idea why it affected me, I’m slim and physically fit (3x a week gym goer, regular 5k runner) but I am in my 40s

Newpuppymummy · 05/09/2021 09:47

Double jabbed and currently have covid. One of my good friends is the sane. Both caught it from teenage children.

CluelessAt50 · 05/09/2021 09:54

I worked on the front line all through the pandemic & had my jabs in Jan/April. I got covid a couple of weeks ago & wouldn't have even known if I didn't routinely test 3 times a week for work. I needed to take a couple of Lemsips on 1 day but that's as bad as it got & my tests were coming back negative after 6 days. I'm over 50 & a smoker so I'm quite surprised at what a walk in the park it was, I've had more troublesome paper cuts.

thetesdybears · 05/09/2021 10:21

Yip, I'm starting to know more and more ppl that have it and all have been double jabbed.

At the moment, there's 4 ppl I know that have it and all been double jabbed for months.

No one has had a stay in hospital with it. Although a friends husband that has it and he was told to shield in the early days. He had a trip to hospital to get checked out as he was struggling with his breathing. Oxygen levels weren't great but gd enough for him to be sent home.

Hels20 · 05/09/2021 10:34

I have it currently. Cold, strange taste in mouth, a bit headachy. Day 2 felt shivery. Tired. But overall not bad and if it wasn’t Covid I would just be going about my day but taking things easy. Was jabbed in April and June.
