I was wondering this too

Formaldeheidi · 23/08/2021 11:42

I honestly think it’ll be around the same time as the flu jab, so October onwards.

DoubleShotEspresso · 23/08/2021 11:50

Our GP said that they've been led to expect these to be released in age /risk categories between mid October and Christmas....
Heard nothing from anywhere else!

Mindymomo · 23/08/2021 13:42

They haven’t decided yet when they are going to start the boosters.

LadyFannyButton · 23/08/2021 13:45

We are expecting supplies at the end of September/beginning of October to do joint flu/Covid booster clinics.
Doesn’t mean that will actually happen mind you.

Abraxan · 23/08/2021 13:47

I already have my flu jab booked in for mid September. No mention of Covid boosters.
Wellbythebloodyhell · 23/08/2021 13:54

Supposedly from Sept onwards but its more likely to be given out in care homes first before inviting people to attend vaccine sites similarly to initial roll out back

FourTeaFallOut · 23/08/2021 14:01

My gp surgery is getting the flu jabs in super early and I'm booked in for early September. But I'm also cev and not sure when the booster jab will be and hoping it doesn't muck up whatever plan is with the covid schedule.

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 23/08/2021 14:12

My surgery has put a Facebook post out saying boosters will not be given until a least 180 days after the 2nd doses were given. They are hoping to start flu jabs in Sept which will be too soon for most people's booster Covid so these will be done separately.

Abraxan · 23/08/2021 14:29

180 days would take me til the 9 November I think.

nordica · 23/08/2021 14:30

The latest news yesterday seemed to suggest they may initially only give a booster to the most vulnerable (CEV and the older groups) and not everyone over 50 as was initially planned.

Exhaustedyetstillgoing · 23/08/2021 14:40

As far as we know the JCVI are yet to make their decision. We all think it will be go ahead over 70's first along with shielding folk. But dates and timescale still tbc
We're Scotland but I imagine that won't make a difference.

Seeline · 23/08/2021 14:44

I had a message last week from my surgery saying that they were expecting flu/covid booster vaccines and would contact me shortly. I'm over 50, but no other conditions.

Palavah · 23/08/2021 14:44

There are pilots/trials happening just now. A relative in their 80s had one.

Watsername · 23/08/2021 15:31

I get an annual flu jab and often get it done through the pharmacy….should I wait and have both done at same time through GP?

Whiskers4 · 23/08/2021 15:40

It's not been confirmed as definite that they'll be boosters yet. Even if there are, rumours are it could be over 50s only, or top four groups to include health and social care workers. Personally, I've made the decision to have flu jab, and won't be delaying it until another jab that may/may not happen.

egglette · 23/08/2021 21:32

DMIL volunteers in a vaccine centre and I think they were told to expect boosters from September.

ChickpeaCrunch · 23/08/2021 21:34

They need to get a move on if they want people booked in before winter

Palavah · 23/08/2021 21:35

They won't need to give everyone the boosters yet, presumably, just the people for whom 2nd jab immunity is wearing off because they were first to have the initial jabs?
Iliketeaagain · 23/08/2021 21:40

I don't think anything has been confirmed yet. The NHS is planning for boosters so there is a plan for when / if the powers that be decide that it's definitely going to happen.
And yes, apparently 180 days post 2nd vaccine. Think it's still to be confirmed as well what vaccine will be used for the booster and who will get it (although that's just what I've heard, there are probably other people who are far more in the know than me).

Theworldisfullofgs · 23/08/2021 21:44

No plan yet, if at all.

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 23/08/2021 21:47

Will they be a booster of the same jab, or will it be an updated version tweaked to the Delta variant?

hashbrownsandwich · 23/08/2021 21:53

@LadyFannyButton

Having the flu jab within 14 days of covid vaccination is a contraindication currently so I'm suprised at this comment.

Formaldeheidi · 23/08/2021 22:08

@hashbrownsandwich they’ll stagger them for each patient. They’ll just use the same clinics.

Kingstonmumof1 · 23/08/2021 22:28

There is no vaccine tweaked for Delta. It would be the same vaccines given the first time around. I'm not sure where az have got to with the version geared towards Beta?
