CEV and I just had Covid

Strangely, it felt like a relief!

Here's my story, in case it helps those who have been feeling anxious for a long time (as I had been):

Double jabbed and started feeling really rough on a Wed. Tired, aching hips, really sore head, blurred vision. Crawled into bed. Felt like this for 3 days or so then had a hunch and booked PCRs for the whole family. By this point, DH also feeling very tired, and the same weird body aches.

Sunday afternoon, we all test +. By Monday the kids have sniffles, one has a tummy upset.

By day 7, I was feeling brighter, but still very tired. DD2 developed a cough (nobody else got a cough at all) and DD1 and DH sneezing a lot.

I now have my period (on day 17, unheard of for me).

I'm on 2 immunosuppressives plus pred so am in the shielding / CEV category.
Interestingly it was no worse for me than DH.

Not to say you'll all be fine, but curiously, I feel like I've "faced my foe".

I'm CV (about to be CEV because I'm starting new medication) so I know what you mean about it being a relief - in some ways I wish I'd hurry up and catch it to get it over with! I'm so glad you're feeling better and that it was mild. Thank you for posting, it really is reassuring.

boon · 19/08/2021 09:19

I'm sorry you had covid but glad it was all ok. Do you mind me asking, do you have a lung condition?

Bobholll · 19/08/2021 10:00

That’s fab to hear OP. I can understand the relief, it must be nice when vulnerable to have had it & been OK! Sounds like your immense system did it’s job despite the meds! 💪🏻💪🏻

rainraingogo · 19/08/2021 14:10

Thank you all 😀
@GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr yes, relief is the right word, I was dreading it and, well, now it's done (touch wood!)

@boon no lung condition but various autoimmune conditions.

I had no respiratory symptoms at all, and only one of my kids did. None of the 4 of us had fever. DH and I both had weird aches (properly sore), utter utter exhaustion and loss of smell that only came at the end.

When did you have your vaccinations OP?

namechangeandNC · 19/08/2021 19:18

Likewise OP but I had covid when I wasn't vaccinated. Like you 2x immunosuppressants and pred. I had covid milder than my DH! And for both of us it was just like a cold.

Marni83 · 19/08/2021 19:19

Were you vaccinated?

rainraingogo · 19/08/2021 20:10

@ToomuchHeat

When did you have your vaccinations OP?
Feb (vac 1) and March (vac 2). I had AZ.

Glad you had a "good" run too. My DH certainly complained about his symptoms more than me ... but I think we actually suffered about the same ;-)

@Marni83

Were you vaccinated?
Me or OP ? I wasn't vaccinated when I had covid. And had it super mildly. I'm still not fully vaccinated.
PutneyHill · 19/08/2021 20:28

That's reassuring to here. May I ask has anyone with severe asthma had the Delta variant on this thread?

Senso21 · 19/08/2021 20:45

Brilliant thread! For someone like me, who is also immune suppressed (azathioprine for IBD) and CEV vaxxed with AZ, this is really good to hear.
Glad you are all ok and can tick Covid off the list nowSmile

I take it he hasn't been jabbed?

Marni83 · 19/08/2021 21:12

Op - we’re you vaccinated?

Marni83 · 19/08/2021 21:12

Ah sorry you were

stirling · 19/08/2021 21:38

Thanks for sharing this experience OP, really helpful as I'm one of those super cautious, forever worried ones

ToomuchHeat · 19/08/2021 22:08

Good to hear that the vaccine has worked so well OP

rainraingogo · 19/08/2021 23:13

@GreyhoundG1rl

No, both of us double jabbed, DH had his in May and June.

Kids not vaccinated (too young).

@Senso21

Thank you. Fingers crossed the vaccines work for other CEVs, even though we're told there's no guarantee.

CimCardashian · 19/08/2021 23:30

Thanks OP,this is really reassuring to read. I know everyone is affected differently but DP is CEV and on immune suppressant drugs.
I just assume it could easily be a death sentence for him if he catches it.

Oh, right. That's encouraging, isn't it? Very positive.

ElephantandGrasshopper · 19/08/2021 23:34

@PutneyHill I'm a moderate asthmatic (I take seretide and sometimes Montelukast). I've got covid and my main symptoms are headache and fatigue. My breathing isn't actually bad at all and I don't have a cough. I'm a little short of breath but no more than a cold. I hope that is reassuring?

croon979 · 19/08/2021 23:37

@PutneyHill yes I am a severe asthmatic and currently have Covid (Delta) variant. My doctor speedily prescribed me with prednisolone which helped support my chest and breathing. I am not going to lie, it wasn’t nice - I felt really rough for the first 5 days but am coming out the other side and have been left just knackered with no taste or smell. I too feel strangely relieved to have had it now - I have been utterly terrified for 18 months. Fingers crossed I continue to improve.

TattyDevine · 19/08/2021 23:41

Only read first post, really pleased to hear this 👍🏻

So the actual treatments are improving also? That's really good to know.
Hope you're better soon 🤞
