I’m struggling to get mine to have it.

Booked at the GPs for next week. He got a text from them. Did have to update his records at GPs as just turned 16 and previously had my contact details

Fuckwits?? Shock
I think that's us, should we be offended? 🤣
Oblomov21 · 14/08/2021 12:35

Not yet. Dh wants to think about it.

My 16 year old had hers a week ago. She has an autoimmune disease that her consultant felt would not increase her risk with Covid, but she has been run down and struggling for a while, and she was getting more worried that if she did get Covid she might be even more tired for crucial months of school. I have a condition that does increase my risk, so that was a factor for her too.
She was ok afterwards, a bit tired, a bit off colour in the evening and tired the next day, I made her rest up and take things gently and she was fine the day after that.

ineedaholidaynow · 14/08/2021 12:53

DS is working in the evening after his, I hope he doesn’t get any side effects

Geamhradh · 14/08/2021 12:59

Two weeks ago first dose Moderna, second booked for 9th Sept but govt here (Italy) apparently approving reduction of time between to 21 days so there'll be pop ups hopefully before back to school. Smile

I’m not sure I can be arsed Grin

Konyeshno · 14/08/2021 14:35

You make it sound like taking them to the vet to get them spayed OP.

17yo DD got her Pfizer jab last week, as soon as the GP texted to say 16+ were now eligible. It's her body and therefore 100% her decision. Neither I nor DH would interfere with her decision. COVID went through her school like wildfire. She had it in November, and several of her peers were recently reinfected with Delta. She wanted to avoid that, and add to crowd immunity.

Benjispruce5 · 16/08/2021 21:01

I rang GP and got DD booked in for next week.

dementedpixie · 16/08/2021 21:05

I'm in Scotland and dd (17) got hers on Saturday. Hasn't complained of any side effects

Darbs76 · 16/08/2021 21:11

My son hasn’t been called yet. He’s having it. His choice, I am glad he is. He’s just had Covid a few weeks back (we all did) and it knocked him for 6 despite him being super fit

Lougle · 16/08/2021 21:15

I had a call today about my 15 year old. I've booked her in for Thursday. She'd been flagged as vulnerable.

implantsandaDyson · 16/08/2021 21:36

I'm in NI and my 16 year old had hers yesterday. Most of her friends had theirs this week. So far, so good with her, the needle site is a bit sore but certainly no more painful that when she had her HPV vaccination.

Thisisconfusing · 16/08/2021 21:57

My 17 yo twins both double jabbed with Pfizer. One is CV (asthma) and the other picked up a spare. Both mine were mid exams when they had theirs - in fact DD had her jab and then went straight to an exam and then went to a training session. DS had 5,5 hours of exams the next day . I say this to illustrate that neither had any side effects for first or second jab except for a sore arm which went after a day or so. My friends DD also double jabbed - she has severe needle Phobia. Friend mentioned it to jab centre and they allowed her in as well and handled it really well.

Lemons1571 · 16/08/2021 22:03

My 16yo would like it, but there’s no walk in clinics round here. Our ccg website for the whole county also says there are no walk in clinics running at the moment. For a county in southern England I find this surprising. Guess our rates may be low? Can’t book online either as he’s not near enough to being 18. No GP’s in our actual town are giving the vaccines any more. So I don’t know, suppose we just wait and see if clinics are set up in schools in Sept?

BarefootHippieChick · 18/08/2021 10:02

lemons similar here. Dd got given an appointment we couldn't make as we weren't here. No other appointments available and nearest walk in clinic for her age is 15 miles away. All her friends have been done. Looks like travelling is our only option. Its kind of annoyed me that the government have spouted on about how great it is over 16s can now be jabbed, when in reality they've made it rather difficult.

feelingdizzy · 18/08/2021 10:12

My ds 17 had it done last week , bit of a sore arm but that's it . We are in Scotland so he's off to uni and wanted to get in done . Sadly he lost his Dad to Covid so knows the impact Covid can have .

JulesJules · 18/08/2021 10:25

I'm so sorry to hear that @feelingdizzy Flowers

My 16yo and her friends were very keen to get vaccinated. We were waiting for a text from the GP, but then a number of vaccination centres started offering drop ins for 16+ (previously 18+) and there are also new pop ups, and a vaccine bus which stops at the university and shopping centres. She went last week, and lots of them made a day of getting GCSE results, then getting jabbed, then going for ice creams etc

D1 has just finished her first year at university, and they've been told they should aim to be fully vaccinated before returning in October.

Anon778833 · 18/08/2021 10:47

My daughter wants hers done. She's 17 (will be 18 in December). She's having it this week. I have left it up to her to make her own decision.

ZittiEBuoni · 18/08/2021 10:49

17 y.o. had her first jab (Pfizer) on Sunday - quick and easy, she had to sit in a room with a bunch of other 17y.o.s (and their mums Grin) for 15 mins afterwards to make sure she was OK - I don't remember getting the same treatment myself!

Sore arm, bit of a headache for a day or so afterwards, all good. No word on whether she'll get a second though.

raspberrytart · 18/08/2021 10:56

My ds (15) ASD had his yesterday. Feeling normal today
