Tested positive. I’m double vaxxed.

I’m 36 and have a BMI of 41 😣

Please don’t be unkind about my size. I’m working on it.

How likely am I to become seriously ill. I don’t want to end up in hospital.

Nobody knows what your individual reaction will be. What are your symptoms so far?

RhodesianRidgeback · 11/08/2021 19:20

If you’re double-jabbed then the chances of you getting seriously ill are much much lower. Try not to worry. Do you have somebody with you who can help take care of you?

Orf1abc · 11/08/2021 19:20

The vast majority of people do not end up in hospital. Your BMI puts you at a higher risk but that risk is still low. How are you feeling now?

DismantledKing · 11/08/2021 19:21

That double vaccination will give you a lot of protection.

ButterflyBitch · 11/08/2021 19:21

How do you feel now? If you’re double vaxxed then try not to worry. There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason to who does and doesn’t get really poorly. Most people I know who have been jabbed and had it have been asymptomatic or feel mildly unwell. My uncle was in hospital but he is in his 70s so age not on his side.

My husband.

Double vaxed is a massive plus. None of the really sick patients in my experience is double jabbed.
Likely you will be grand.

Like I have a heavy cold at the minute also run down and achy.

There's no way of predicting how your body will respond to the illness but it's very unlikely that you will be hospitalised.

Try not to panic

SequinsandStiIettos · 11/08/2021 19:22

No judgement here - I am bigger than you I think. Hope you are not too poorly with it. Handhold here if needed. Brew

PopcornMuncher · 11/08/2021 19:43

I have a higher BMI than you and had covid before vaccines were available. I felt awful but I didn't end up in hospital. Hope you are OK. Come back and update us when you've recovered

lljkk · 11/08/2021 19:43

there are stories all over internet of very obese people who have a mild time with covid.

Being age 36 is hugely protective.

CornishTiger · 11/08/2021 19:46

I am older, much higher BMI. Had Covid early last year. Was very ill, at one point considered an ambulance as breathing scared me, luckily I didn’t need one . Just lost 5 days instead.

UpstreamSwimmer · 11/08/2021 19:47

Nobody can predict, but I wouldn't be too worried about it.

TheTallOakTrees · 11/08/2021 20:33

Good luck. I hope it is easy on you. Fluids and rest up and take your time.

PinkDaffodil2 · 11/08/2021 20:36

Age and vaccination status are much bigger factors in severity than BMI so I expect you will be alright. Maybe get a pulse oximeter if you are worried so you can keep an eye on your oxygen levels?

Winemewhynot · 11/08/2021 20:38

Even though you’re obese being double jabbed should prevent you becoming ill enough to require hospital admission.

samyeagar · 11/08/2021 20:38

If it is any reassurance, even high risk, unvaxxed people who caught any of the variants are statistically unlikely to end up in the hospital.

XenoBitch · 11/08/2021 20:40

No one can answer this for you. People larger than yourself, with multiple underlying conditions, have had a mild time with Covid... and then you get fit young people on oxygen.

I know it is easier said than done, but just think of it as a nasty cold. Would you normally worry so much about those? Lemsips, fluids, and plenty of rest. Worrying causes your body stress which will affect how it fights off any infection.

LakeShoreD · 11/08/2021 20:40

My aunt has about the same BMI but is in her early 60s, also vaccinated but tested positive about a month ago. Heavy cold symptoms for about a week but nothing more, now feeling right as rain. According to the CDC in the US, more 99.99% of fully vaccinated Americans have not had a breakthrough case resulting in hospitalisation or death. So based on that statistic the chances of you ending up in the hospital are slim to none.

Wishing you all the best for a quick recovery.

Welshiefluff · 11/08/2021 20:57

No idea but get your weight down and not only because of covid.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/08/2021 20:58

For how many days have you been feeling unwell?

Farevalah · 11/08/2021 21:05

Rest up, take your normal cold remedies.

I've been taking very high strength Vit D and K since finding out I was deficient last year which also helps boost the immune system.
Zinc and Vit C, and Immunace too.

Im double jabbed but have similar BMI and I understand your fear op regarding hospital but if you're jabbed then you should be able to avoid getting seriously ill.

Redcrayons · 11/08/2021 21:07

Your weight is a risk factor, but you’re young and double jabbed which are hugely in your favour.

I know an asthmatic who sailed through it, only picked up with LFT test. I know an ultra runner who was hospitalised for a couple of weeks.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Good job OP is working on losing weight then isn't it? Maybe you could consider working on a) reading comprehension and b) empathy.
