When did fatigue pass for you?

Hi,

I'm in desperate need of reassurance really. Tested positive ten days ago. Thankfully all symptoms have gone apart from crippling fatigue which is literally killing me. I can't function. I can't do anything and I have 2 toddlers. Please tell me this will pass soon!! If anybody has experienced fatigue since coronavirus when did it start getting better??

@nutgrabber are you vaccinated? I was lucky to not have many other symptoms.
I have lost my smell and taste also though.

@PuzzledObserver I really hope I start improving after 2 weeks. I'm on day 10 now. My taste and smell are still completely gone. Lucky I never got a cough.
Just the fatigue.

For me three months

For rest of the family just over two weeks they felt heaps better

So sorry you are going through this xx

Queenie6655 · 01/08/2021 19:29

@Mucky1

It took me a fair few weeks to get back to normal and my husband is still suffering with long covid. Just rest as much as you can, bare minimum house work, easy cook food, no strenuous trips out and go easy on yourself and let your body heal. In the long run a messy house and extra screen time for the DC won't matter but your health does. Blush I hope you feel better soon it will pass I promise.
Yes To all of this 🙌🙌👌🏻

Was around day 8 after testing positive you have my sympathy op I have 3 dc including a 1 Yr old was terrible hope you feel better soon Flowers

misssunshine4040 · 01/08/2021 19:32

I'm tested positive 14th July and was really unwell for 6 days and then improved on day 7.
The fatigue has been debilitating until 2 days ago where it has lifted slightly.
I have a 3 year old and starting a new job on Tuesday. I'm dreading how I'm going to cope

nutgrabber · 01/08/2021 19:33

I wasn't at the time - I succumbed to Covid on a skiing holiday in Italy in March 2020. It took five days to fully take hold of me and then another 3 weeks to come out of the other side.

I was fully recovered after four weeks (five weeks in total) but YMMV.

I'm fully vaccinated now thankfully but felt a bit ropey after the first jab for about half a day. No issues after the second dose of the AZ vaccine Smile

I had Covid in January, it’s now August and I’m still struggling with extreme fatigue and muscle aches. It’s shit. I was like this for about 15 months after I had Swine Flu so I sort of expected it.

Heyhohi · 01/08/2021 19:48

Sorry about your symptoms and long covid, only asking as I’m struggling with a fatigue due to being aneamic. Did you have any blood tests?

courtney251 · 01/08/2021 19:53

@misssunshine4040 I tested positive on the 20th so not far behind you. The fatigue is awful. My partner is going back to work on Wednesday and I don't know how I'm going to cope with both of the kids. They are toddlers too so need my full attention at all times. I'm really hoping and partying it starts to lift soon.

Hoping and praying definitely not partying lol

8 months - not sure you want to know that.

lightand · 01/08/2021 20:05

After covid, after 6 weeks I realised I was going nowhere. I was like a hamster going around and around and around a wheel.
Took myself off somewhere, where I could get complete rest. I stayed there 3 months. Only then did I turn a corner.
I had various symptoms, and afterwards had various symptoms too.
8 months until everything had gone.
I still eat and drink a couple of things to keep the fatigue at bay.

lightand · 01/08/2021 20:08

I think it was on the long covid support thread, that several of us realised that we had had glandular fever in our teens.
Not sure that is relevant to anything!

Sweetbabyrays · 01/08/2021 20:10

My role entails me dealing with long Covid pt’s, some have been the same for over a year with no sign of improvement. There’s been lots of long Covid studies and support groups set up but quite frankly seeing it first hand scares the shit out of me. Some people can’t work and are losing homes etc, it’s very upsetting. Not saying this will be you but take the time and rest you feel your body needs and don’t push yourself, it’ll just set you back.

Tootsey11 · 01/08/2021 22:28

I'm 17 months in. I'm working 50%, that's all I can manage. If I push myself to do too much then I'm back to square one. On my 2 early finishes from work I come home and go straight to bed at 2pm so that I can get through the rest of the week.

I pushed myself at the start to get everything done, which was a big mistake, but I am a single parent and had no option. You have help so just take it easy.

Tinpotspectator · 01/08/2021 22:33

6 weeks. Rest as much as possible and definitely don't exercise much at all until you have felt well for a while. The house work can wait.

Webbedlife · 01/08/2021 23:07

4 months or so where it was really bad. I don't work any more so I didn't have to worry about getting sacked but I didn't do well taking exercise and a lot of jobs around the house/garden got offloaded onto DH or didn't get done at all. Also I am leaning a couple of musical instruments and brain fog meant that I lost months of progress.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 01/08/2021 23:23

I had COVID at the end of October and still not feel back to where I was. I'd advise taking it slowly. I hope you feel better soon OP.

Beachcomber · 02/08/2021 08:09

I started to feel ill on 3rd July. Tested positive on 5th with an antigen test, confirmed by a pcr on 6th July.
Felt properly in bed ill for 2 weeks. 3rd week I was exhausted and lightheaded but not as ill. 4th week started to feel a lot better.
I'm just about back to normal now. Able to work and enjoy life but being careful and taking things slowly.
No sport, lots of nourishing food, taking vitamins and resting when I can.
Taste and smell started to come back in week 3. Not back to normal totally yet but much improved.

I hope you feel better soon. I was worried in week 3 as I felt better but still pretty awful and so tired.
My doctor said not to worry about feeling tired as could easily last for 4 weeks.

Good luck and take care of yourself. Don't push things.

courtney251 · 02/08/2021 08:49

@Beachcomber so glad to hear you're feeling better! The nausea has finally passed and today was the first time I open my body lotion and could smell it! Not properly but definitely more then yesterday. The brain fog is what scares me The most and just the exhaustion. Will be two weeks on Thursday so hoping I soon start to see some kind of improvement x

Are people reporting things that seem to help them, apart from rest?
Guineapigbridge · 03/08/2021 09:50

This thread is scary.

Pacing, mindfulness, gentle yoga.

I know several young professionals who have had to stop work. It is devastating for them.
