Pfizer vaccine vs period

SomethingToldTheWildGeese · 26/07/2021 14:12

Has anyone had strange periods since their vaccine?

My period is normally like clockwork, yet (perhaps coincidentally?) since I had my first pfizer, it's been getting later each month.
Just curious if anyone else has had the same experience?

Yes, tens of thousands of women have reported changes to their periods after getting vaccinated. All of the 3 main jabs used in the UK cause these side effects.

You should report it here.

Blankspace4 · 26/07/2021 18:53

I had AZ and my period was 12 days late last month. This months is 2 days late and counting.

fed up with it.

Why are women’s bodies ignored???

SomethingToldTheWildGeese · 28/07/2021 14:40

I will do that @BringBackThinEyebrows - thanks!

I know @Blankspace4 - why wasn't I made aware of this? It's not insignificant - I felt really really really shit on the days it was supposed to be due.

Vaccines cause an immune response so its natural that your period would be delayed whilst this is happening. It would be the same if you were ill fighting an infection. the vast majority of people have reported this being short term and not lasting more and 1 people 2 periods. there's quite a few reports available to read and video explanations from doctors.

Roundearth · 28/07/2021 14:47

not lasting more than 1-2 periods.

asparagusspears · 28/07/2021 14:52

Yes, I've had weird out of cycle bleeding, two instances of flooding (both times meaning I had to rush home and change my clothes) and on and off cramps since my Moderna.

I have recorded this with the yellow card scheme.

To be honest it's put me off having the second shot.

SomethingToldTheWildGeese · 28/07/2021 15:01

That's all very well @Roundearth, but where was this listed in the side effects?

I was affected hormonally and emotionally by the delayed period. Had I known about this effect of the vaccine, I could have mentally prepared myself - but no. No. Women-specific health is STILL considered not important enough to warrant proper awareness.

OP posts:
Roundearth · 28/07/2021 15:21

you don't list side effects listed until they're been reported to be statistically linked and proven in number. otherwise you would have to list anything and everything as a possible side effect whether if showed up in the trials or not.

SeeYaBeYa · 28/07/2021 15:23

It wasn't tested for in the trials which is why it didn't show up on them.

MakeCrisps · 28/07/2021 15:25

Mine was 2 weeks early in the week after my 2nd Pfizer jab, but has been back to normal since

SeeYaBeYa · 28/07/2021 15:27

In fact not just periods but female hormones in general weren't accounted for. Post-menopausal women and women with coils have reported bleeding. And ofc any hormonal disruption has a systemic effect on women because our hormones are an important part of how our bodies function.

So yes report it but it's pretty fucking annoying that we're having to do so.

Clarice99 · 28/07/2021 15:34

I'm post menopausal, and haven't had a period for around 5 years.

A few days after the 2nd AZ dose, I started bleeding and had a 'full blown' period that lasted 8 days which was the length of time my 'normal' period was (I had even worse side effects from the 1st dose, not period related)

I'm certain the period was due to the vaccine as I had a hysteroscopy recently for an unrelated matter and had the all clear from that.

I find it quite worrying that women aren't being heard about this issue despite it being pretty widespread.

And yes, I made the yellow card report.

What kinds of infection causes agonising menstrual cramps, massive clots, and post-menopausal bleeding? These are just some abnormal experiences women are having after being vaccinated.

There are doctors who claimed that the vaccines have NO effect on menstrual cycles, it's just "stress caused by the pandemic". I'll wait for the results of the ongoing studies which are specifically investigating the issues instead of listening to doctors fobbing women off.

What do you mean women aren't being heard? Details of side effects are being requested and recorded. None of these issues are a reason not to give women the vaccines.
MakeCrisps · 28/07/2021 15:50

What action is dad proposing? A text exchange surely can't be the end of it?

MakeCrisps · 28/07/2021 15:50

Sorry, wrong thread.

BeHereNowx32 · 28/07/2021 15:51

@SomethingToldTheWildGeese my period was on time. But only lasted a day, and I was getting a lot of hot flushes! Worried the menopause could have been coming early, but makes sense it was the vaccine!
Hope it all settled down for everyone

Clarice99 · 28/07/2021 15:54

@MakeCrisps

What do you mean women aren't being heard?

Every single medical professional I have mentioned my post meno bleeding to have dismissed my concerns about it possibly being linked to the vaccine. And I've read the same from many other women. Hence, not being heard.

HannahBanana926 · 28/07/2021 15:59

I'm on the pill and usually only have a period every 2-3 months, had my vaccine 2 weeks ago and I've had 2 mini periods in that time, which would have been unheard of before. I don't know if it's related, it just seems strangely coincidental

Precisely. Women's reproductive health was not studied at trial stages for any of the vaccines. As it's not a recognised side effect, women are being told it can't be caused by the jab when they seek medical advice. The media is printing opinions from 'experts' who say there's no link to the vaccine.

I'm so sorry for all the women and girls going through this.

SeeYaBeYa · 28/07/2021 16:08

I'm also interested in how an "immune response" disrupts periods.

Care to elaborate @Roundearth?

Guineapigbridge · 28/07/2021 16:11

I had an early, VERY heavy period. Normally light and like clockwork.

Roundearth · 28/07/2021 16:11

lol you're being willfully ignorant now

SeeYaBeYa · 28/07/2021 16:25

So educate me.

How does an immune response affect female hormones?

BringBackThinEyebrows · 28/07/2021 16:27

@Roundearth

lol you're being willfully ignorant now
?

Did you just mean one late period after the vaccine is comparable to the body fighting an illness? It's known that periods can be delayed when stressed or ill. Women and girls are having all kinds of side effects though, not necessarily a delayed period.
