Pfizer vaccine vs period

Has anyone had strange periods since their vaccine?

My period is normally like clockwork, yet (perhaps coincidentally?) since I had my first pfizer, it's been getting later each month.
Just curious if anyone else has had the same experience?

I haven't had a proper period Since my jab in March I haven't had the second for this reason. I don't actually think I am ovulating anymore. I feel so stupid for having the vaccine.

Please could you link some of those reports @Roundearth? I would like to know more about the vaccine's effect on hormones - as all I've found so far, are vague news articles with few (if any) facts/stats/evidence.

Also - thanks for all the replies, I hope you're all okay. In one way, I'm glad I'm not alone but it's only made me more annoyed that this issue isn't generating greater attention

I had period problems after my vaccines (front line health worker) I am now pregnant because I misjudged my dates due to them being so unpredictable (unexpected but very happy) however I probably wouldn't have the vaccine if I wanted children as I don't believe we know enough about the effects on fertility.

I reported my side effects on the yellow card online system.

I have a question - I take the pill back to back and rarely have the break. This means I don't really have periods.

However, 2 weeks after my second Pfizer jab I started bleeding, despite taking the pill as normal.

Could this be related? Everyone else seems to be not having periods rather than having them so perhaps it's a coincidence.

I am glad to have stumbled upon this thread. I had the Pfizer vaccine back in April and started a period 5 days later and this was very early, so I reported it via the yellow card. I haven’t had another period since, but I am 52 years old so could be menopause related.

I have daughters who have the contraceptive implant so don’t have periods anyway, so at the moment they’d have no idea if any fertility issues have been caused by their Pfizer vaccinations.

@obeabdabother congratulations!

@garlictwist there's a few different side effects being experienced, it's not just delayed periods. For example, I've experienced stop/start bleeding with extremely painful cramping and clots. Some women have reported heavy bleeding lasting weeks after getting vaccinated.

Regarding the pill, it's possible you're experiencing a side effect from getting vaccinated. A good way to consider this is the impact on women with hormonal IUDs e.g. the mirena coil which can stop periods and has similar hormones to the pill. Many women with the mirena have reported abnormal bleeding since getting jabbed.

One example reported is here. "When Katy Fyksen got a heavy period a few days after she received her second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, she didn’t consider there might be a link.

The 43-year-old Plainfield woman hadn’t had a period in over a year and a half because of her Mirena IUD, so the sudden red flow was a surprise. But she didn’t think about the timing in relation to when she received her vaccine until she saw a Twitter thread."

In a Zoe article shared on here recently, Professor. Emma Duncan was dismissive about side effects reported by women on the pill. "Those taking oral contraceptives, a typically good indicator and regulator of the menstrual cycle, have also reported irregular bleeding. Emma explains “that the most common reason for women on oral contraceptives to have breakthrough bleeding is unreliable absorption of the pill (from forgetting to take it to diarrhoea to antibiotic use). Given that about 1% of women fall pregnant on the pill every year, this is not unusual.”

You know what's normal for your body- if there have been no other changes that would affect the pill, it's probably the vaccine and worth reporting.
