So are they preparing schools for LFTs for close contacts?

It's been said that U18 and the double jabbed won't have to isolate if they are a close contact from 16 August.

This has been taken at face value.

This new report from Oxford says testing for close contacts is a successful way to avoid isolation and that

Prof Paul Hunter, from the University of East Anglia, said schools would probably still need some controls on their return

"At least daily testing... will have less harm on children's education than the current exclusion policy, whether or not it has real benefit in controlling the epidemic,"

So what is the plan, close contacts of primary get tested daily?
Senior school children get tested daily but if they don't agree/can't will they still need to isolate (and therefore will teachers still need to be prepared with online work?)

Why tout the idea of normal school in September when this is not possible?

Honestly I do give up now. You do whatever you want.

Of course you can comment all you like. You can freely give your opinion and share your experiences. That's what a free forum is all about.

I just stand up against anyone speaking out for school staff and disregarding their experiences when they haven't experienced it themselves.

It's arrogant and offensive.

This whole forum is full to the brim of people disregarding others experiences that they haven't experienced themselves putting their two penny worth in being arrogant and offensive on a whole range of circumstances and scenarios.

@Wellbythebloodyhell So to concur, we should all only comment on things we have experienced ourselves - be it workplaces, having had covid, vaccine status etc? Genuine question, trying to work out the rules of this discussion forum.

Right, got you. So if an anonymous person on here says they work in a school and there are 30 positive cases in one class - I shouldnt comment as I dont work in a school right? Genuine question - I should only comment if this environment was a dental laboratory?

Tbh I think the rule is commenting on anything is fair game as long as it not about schools or teachers 🤷‍♀️

@Wellbythebloodyhell Cool. Gotcha.

I think school threads should come with a side note only teachers allowed to comment just to avoid any confusion

Wellbythebloodyhell · 24/07/2021 21:01

@palacegirl77 I'm not a teacher either just a meagre parent and NHS worker

Ah, there you are @palacegirl77. I have enjoyed catching up on your posts after I’ve come back from - how did you phrase it? - having a life. Have you been having a few cheeky merlots too? So you know, that was quite a bitchy remark. I’m not certain you know when you’re doing it!

The key to posting unpleasant comments on a forum where you disregard people’s safety is to suck it up when you are treated in the same way. You and @Wellbythebloodyhell can give it out but can’t take it when comments are made in the same vein.

So here comes my thoughts on your jobs. I am vey qualified to comment of course. Dentists and dental technicians didn’t work for months. Patients were given painkillers and some resorted to knocking out their own teeth. Additionally, not all dental technicians work directly with patients. Ditto NHS staff. Plenty work in offices (from home) or are still not seeing patients. An NHS accountant, working from home wasn’t putting themselves at risk. Many GPS are still not seeing patients. I’m sure you aren’t doing this though so please, don’t refer to yourself as ‘meagre’. Self esteem is so important.

Now, I think you might have been ‘poking fun’ but I really hope you do keep commenting on school threads . I’m happy to keep going as long as you want. One of the advantages of the school holidays means I have time to post and continue a robust discussion.

@BustopherPonsonbyJones not sure why you feel I'm in any way offended by any posts because I'm really not, I'm able to take all comments on MN with a pinch of salt , you should try it. FWIW I work in the vaccine hubs and also in the hospital out patient clinics, seeing patients day in day out no wfh luxury for me.

I see what you've done there, you've written nonsense about my work so I leap on and say that's nonsense and you say this is why I shouldn't comment about schools! But yes you completely nailed it! Well done, seems you can understand someone else's workplace. Have a lovely day.
