Do I have to isolate two months after I’ve had it if I’ve been contacted?

Had covid at the end of may, was very sick from it for weeks. I’m only just recovering now.

I have just had a message off my beautician who has tested positive for covid, she is aware I had it initially two month ago so wasn’t sure to pass my details on to track and trace - she contacted me directly.

I’m confused about immunity here, do I still have to isolate even though I’ve only recently recovered from it?

Yes you do if contacted by T&T

SW1amp · 21/07/2021 14:18

Yes if you’re contacted by track and trace, but if she doesn’t pass your details on, you don’t

The chances of you getting it again after 2 months is as close to zero as it’s possible to get

Themadcatparade · 21/07/2021 14:18

Just to add, I was with her for about an hour two days ago and she was doing my eyelashes!

Thank you, I wasn’t contacted To track and trace no.

We are due on holiday next weekend and I’ve recently started working in the office with a colleague who has not yet had it. I’m unsure whether to work at home for the rest of the week or not, just in case?

I would ask her not to name you. If you can get covid again so soon after having it we are completely screwed and you not isolating won't make much difference!

QueenStromba · 21/07/2021 16:17

You can definitely get it again this quickly and the variant you had in May was probably not delta. You need to isolate.

Lakeshore6 · 21/07/2021 16:19

You can get it again, and test and trace only let you off in these circumstances if you were a contact within 4 days after your 10 day isolation.

As far as they are concerned, you can pick up a different variant.

Lakeshore6 · 21/07/2021 16:19

^ I say this with experience btw

Largethighsbadeyes · 21/07/2021 17:00

A child in my DS class caught covid, isolated for 10 days, recovered, had been back at school for 1 day and another child tested positive so they had to isolate for another 10 days. Madness!

Ponoka7 · 21/07/2021 17:30

@QueenStromba
"You can definitely get it again this quickly"

The scientists say that you are protected for at least six months and having had Covid in the last six months or being double jabbed was going to be enough for isolation not to happen. Where did you get your information from?

OP, I wouldn't isolate, testing is enough.

Ponoka7 · 21/07/2021 17:31

It doesn't matter if the it was a different variant. The core of the virus doesn't change, which is why the vaccine still works.

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 21/07/2021 17:33

Yes you should isolate…please

Twickerhun · 21/07/2021 17:34

What if it’s a different variant? Your immunity might not be as good against a different variant?

Twickerhun · 21/07/2021 17:35

My neighbours have both had covid twice now so it can happen just bloody unlucky I guess

DufferMum · 21/07/2021 17:37

I wouldn’t miss my holiday I am afraid.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 21/07/2021 17:42

did she not wear a mask?

MrsPsmalls · 21/07/2021 17:42

Yes you definitely do. I had it, my 10 days were up then after probably 4 days I was contacted by test and trace and had to isolate again. Nearly a month from beginning to end.

SummerHouse · 21/07/2021 17:46

I would. I know many people double jabbed who have it. Not sure about catching it if you have already had it but not a risk I would take.

Lottie4 · 21/07/2021 17:47

Legally you don't have to isolate unless contact by T&T, but it's a case of doing the right thing as hard as this may be.

rosieday · 21/07/2021 17:56

Even if you "can't get it" so soon after having it (smh) you can still, carry it/pass jt on. Isolation is just about the individual.
She should pass on your details to TT and then you can explain your circumstances and they can decide. I know it's hugely frustrating but it's the risk we're all taking getting out and about and making plans.

rosieday · 21/07/2021 17:56

Meant to say isolation "isn't" just about the individual

Imnothereforthedrama · 21/07/2021 18:08

@AbsolutelyPatsy

did she not wear a mask?
It doesn’t matter , a mask isn’t fool proof you know . If your close contact your close contact . Op I’d isolate that’s the guidance but I don’t think you can get a pcr test 90 days after testing.
AbsolutelyPatsy · 21/07/2021 18:24

no a mask certainly does matter. it is PPE, otherwise why do people wear them at work/in shops?

rosieday · 21/07/2021 18:29

Seriously.....🤦🏼‍♀️
AbsolutelyPatsy · 21/07/2021 18:31

in hospitals/carers, all wear masks
